It was an amazing experience, the respect that Nancy has for the products used you can feel it in every bite. Undoubtedly one of the better places to enjoy Italian kitchen
Service used to be very good here, but not anymore. An amuse bouche is no longer offered, our water glasses were never refilled, wine bottle had first glass poured and then was left on the table for us to pour for ourselves during the entire meal. Well prior to entree delivery, bread plates were removed without offering additional service. Also the dining room is consistently very smoky. Management really should address the kitchen ventilation issue. Food quality is good, but certainly not a Michelin 1 star experience overall.
A wonderful experience.
Very good. Seated on time. Service really good. Quail was exceptional-not dried out as some places. Sangiovese blend was very good. A bit noisy but can still be heard without yelling.
Try the egg raviolo. My fav, hands down. So good, I ordered another one for my dessert!
Gets our vote for best restaurant in LA!!!
The server, a young lady from Chicago, was the best server I've encountered in a long time. Here knowledge regarding the wine a food was the highlight of the meal. She's a star employee and a real asset to Mozza. My apologies for not remembering her name.
Everything was very good, the only thing i can complain about is i found the food to be very salty. It was tasty but just a little too much salt.
Food was delicious. Staff was excellent. Very helpful dealing with allergies.
Can’t wait to go back and eat some more!
Food was good as always but restaurant was overly bright and food was woefully slow; they ended up paying for our last course it was so late.
Came here for my girlfriend's birthday and it was phenomenal. The service was impeccable and the food was perfectly presented and seasoned. Definitely recommend Nancy's Caesar and the pastas.
Worth the visit if you're in LA, the Michelin star is well deserved!
Had the best meal! Did the pasta tasting menu and it was amazing
Amazing as always!
Our waiter was a bit pushy and some dishes were good and some not so good.
My wife and friends were a little disappointed. We had an 8:15 reservation and arrived at 7:30 - and were asked to wait at the bar. We had two rounds of cocktails and at 8:40 we started looking around trying to figure out what was going on with our table. We asked the hostess twice and were told to continue to wait even though we could see at least 2 four tops tables open. We finally got seated - with apologies at 8:45 to one of the open tables. With Nancy being so renowned for her bread-making we were disappointed right from the get-go when they brought bread to the table. The bread was served cold (or maybe room temperature) - we couldn't appreciate the crust as it was soggy and lacked any dimension. This could have been any "ME TOO" bread and lacked any of the distinction that I know she worked hard to achieve.
We started with a smoked mozzarella and parma ham appetizer. The parma ham could not have been more delicious - and was sliced perfectly. The mozzarella had delicate hints of smoke but wasn't overpowering. We also had the Brussell sprouts which arrived shaved and were delightfully delicate yet simple in their preparation. Our pasta dishes were all excellent with the rabbit ragu being the standout! The noise level is pretty loud which made conversations some times difficult without leaning in. Our server was knowledgable and attentive without being overbearing.
At this level - and with Nancy's reputation for perfection - the bread and the long wait were the real disappointments. Would we go back - yes. Would I recommend the place - yes - but I would say skip the bread and save room for other delicious treats.
It’s always a pleasure to go to a place where they make you feel special, with excellent food and service. It was our anniversary and we had a great night!
The food was good but too long wait between the starters and main dishes.
The atmosphere is wonderful! It’s lively and romantic. I enjoyed the drinks and the service. The pasta and Ragu dish was wonderful but the main course which we got was the crispy duck leg , which was recommended, was overly salty and not crispy... I didn’t understand the hype.... anyway we went next door to the pizzeria afterward and had a wonderful pizza! All in all nice restaurant, just disappointed with the duck leg.
I came here for my fiancé’s birthday. The restaurant staff failed to acknowledge her special day. We flew from the Bay Area just to have dinner at this restaurant and while the food was excellent, this was a massive failure. In addition, we weren’t seated for 30 minutes, even though I made reservations 2 weeks prior. This is not a big deal as I understand how busy it was there. But, that doesn’t help that not only were they late, but failed to address her birthday. Also, I had not only mentioned it was for a birthday on the open table app, but I also called in the morning to confirm that they recognized this. That is completely unacceptable.
Great food, fantastic service!
The appetizers were excelent! But the pasta not so much. We order tagliatelle with oxtail ragu, the pasta was very nice but the sauce was acid and had a lot of parsley , too much and very invasive , and caccio e Pepe, that tasted like dry pasta with pepper , no creaminess from the pecorino and cooking water , only pepper and regular pasta . We expected more, a lot more from a Michelin star place. Too much hype, but the service was very good , but it doesn’t compensate to pay that much for this dinner
Everything was perfect. My brother, a friend and I took my mom for her 87th birthday. They gave us a quiet table in the corner and provided excellent guidance on ordering. We had three appetizers, two pastas and one entree and it was perfect for us to share. We shared two desserts and had a wonderful bottle of red recommebyvthe sommelier. We were there for hours!!!! It was flawless.
Had a little issue with heat on steak, both server and manager took care of it and served an extra dessert-
Thanks for a nice evening
The food was very tasty and the ambiance was comfortable, but the service was a tad bit shaky. We may have had a new waiter who was confused, but other than that we enjoyed our pasta tasting menu. My wife even tried the dish made with duck liver. Glad we were able to dine there.
I haven’t been here a while but they didn’t disappoint me.
Delicious food, excellent service and decent price.
There's a reason Osteria Mozza is one of the highest-rated restaurants in Los Angeles. Despite its status, the staff treats everyone very well, and the food is unbeatable. Our waiter, John P, was helpful, friendly and efficient. Dishes arrived when they were supposed to, and it seemed our needs were anticipated. The mozzarella de Bufata sampler was delicious, and the garlic bread which came with it was the best I've ever had, so tasty and buttery. Nancy's Caesar salad was inventive and flavorful; the anchovy which came with it did not overwhelm the rest of the salad. The goat cheese ravioli was tender and flavorful. The gluten-free pasta in the oxtail ragu was good as far as g-f can go, and the ragu was great. Bombolini, the dessert berry compote and lemon mascarpone, had a nice mix of textures and flavors and was light enough after the meal. Finally, the Mozza version of a Manhattan was better than the original. Overall, a great meal at a great venue.
This is the third time in recent months where I have dined here and the service has been abysmal. We’ve been shoved in the back room and the place is understaffed and we end up waiting for 30-40 mins just to order. Used to be a top choice but there are just so many other options out there now and it feels like it’s resting on its laurels.
It was absolutely delicious
We just returned from a week long Italian Cooking School and were reluctant to visit an Italian restaurant. We are so glad we did. Our meal was outstanding. We started with the Burrata and Bacon appetizer and Nancy's caesar salad. Both were full of flavor and tasty. The salad was deconstructed and presented in a unique fashion. Wow! We had the Garganelli and Linguine Prawn. The pasta was incredibly prepared and presented. Yummy!!! We only had room for Espresso after dinner. Thanks for a wonderful meal and evening.
The food was very delicious, very attentive service, somewhat crowded but nonetheless okay. The grilled figs were delicious, I love figs, the tomato salad was very fresh and very tasty. Great presentation. My husband tried the orrechiete which he loved, lots of flavor, I had the parpadelle with rabbit - very good, hearty. We had the chocolate sesame tart and the torta della nonna (I have made this at home, honey crust and lemon custard kind of difficult, can be messy when you sieve the custard mixture) This one had honey but I could not taste the lemon, very light not too sweet which I love because it goes perfect with coffee and they toasted the pine nuts and added some powdered sugar on top which looked perfect, it was very good although was hoping for a taste of lemon. Had an airy taste to it which made it seem lighter. There were several things I wanted to try, will definitely have to come back.
loved the mozza bar. esp buretta. slightly noisy, but loved atmosphere. Pasta was slightly salty for me maybe bcoz of the goat cheese. oveeall perfect dinner for our anniversary
Standard Italian fare.
We felt that the food was delicious, but for those prices, you should be getting bigger portions.
Great food and service. Loved it. Will definitely return
This was a pilgrimage for me as I’m from Edmonton, Alberta in Canada. I was seated at the mozzarella bar and it was a top 5 all-time dining experience. LOVED IT!
Wonderful, we love everyone who works there and the food is amazing!
Great food and a wonderful sommelier who picked excellent wines for us from their extensive list
The mozzarella was amazing but the cacio e Pepe could’ve been better. It was chewy and had way too much pepper.
Always great food and service with a terrific soundtrack in the background.
Prior to discovering Osteria on Chef's Table, I had already dined at Pizzeria Mozza so I already knew the experience was going to be just as good and we were not disappointed. I love the ambiance of Osteria and even though every single table was taken, it was still on the quiet side and my gf and I really appreciated being able to hear each other across the table. For drinks, we had the prosecco rose, Il Postino, Gordon's cup...all were very refreshing.
For our meal, we shared the following....
Burricotta & spiced walnuts...very good and creamy
Grilled octopus...the best ever!
Cacio e pepe...so rich & delicious
We tried all three of the bread offerings dipped in olive oil and they were all amazing, particularly the sesame bread.
