Osteria Morini - New York Ratings and Reviews
We dined here on Monday night for their weekly pasta night, when all of the pastas are price at $12. Its well worth the value, and it is some of the best pasta in the city! The food is phenomenal. I've dined here dozens of times. This place is definitely worth a try if you have a palate that's craving pasta or just some really good mixed Italian drinks and other delectable hearty Italian dishes. Their menu goes beyond pasta night with plenty of good selections. Definitely drop in and give this pasta Mecca a try! Happy holidays
The bartender was friendly and helped us get our Manhattans quickly. It was snowing and we were beaten down by the cold, so this was appreciated! The staff quickly seated us and we were given time to relax and look at the menu. I recommend the veal and the mushrooms. Really enjoyed the ambiance. Will return next time we're in NYC!
This was my 2nd visit to this restaurant. I have also been to the DC location. The food is always excellent. The pasta is to die for; my favorite is the cappelletti. The service is outstanding and I will definitely be returning when I come to NY again. The pasta is so fresh and just melts in your mouth. I can't say enough good things; just go you won't regret it.
Very hit or miss, but the hits are excellent and the miss isn't terrible. Just need to know what to order. The Polpettine are just ok, the Cappelletti is incredible, the Lasagna ok, the steaks great, the brussels sprouts undercooked in a 1970's sort of way, the budino delicious. More importantly, when a customer says we'd like the antipasti, then the salad, then the pasta, then the entrees, that should mean sequentially, not the antipasti with the salad and the pasta with the entrees. After it is delivered, it is too late. Unacceptable, especially in an Italian restaurant.
This was a fantastic restaurant experience. We had a late dinner reservation but we were starving by 6pm. We stopped by the restaurant to see if they could seat us any earlier. They were very accommodating and offered to seat us at the chef’s table. This was better than we could have imagined. We were seated in front of Finn(I’m sorry if I’m getting his name incorrectly) who was just amazing to watch. He was so meticulous with everything he did and his attention to detail was just so fun to watch. My husband and I are both in healthcare and very conscious of cleanliness. Finn probably went through an entire box of gloves while we watched him cook. So many people in the restaurant business think that if they put on gloves they are fine to touch anything and everything and never change their gloves. Fin changed gloves after everything he touched. He would make a salad - which was an absolutely amazing process to watch - touch for instance, the refrigerator handle, then change his gloves to come back to finishing the plate. The attention to detail was just unbelievable. The food was fantastic. They had many gluten free options (I have celiac disease) and the service was awesome. Great experience. I will definitely return!
We were very dissapointed with our meal once the check arrived and we saw that we were charged $75 for the special pasta although the waiter didn’t mention the price when we put our order, and it wasn’t in the menu or on the board. We think this is SO no right to treat the customer in a way that will give him such a bad taste by the end of the meal. We don’t mind paying such price, if we were told in advance and certainly not to hear him saying ti the couple in the table next to us ‘glad that you were not ‘high maintenance ‘ pointing at us.
Ceryainly we paid the vheck and more but we will never return and won’t recommend !
Went here for my "carbo-loading" (special) dinner the night before the NYC marathon. I randomly chose something on the board -- I asked the server about it; really wanted something flavorful. She said it was. Holy mackerel that was an amazing dish...flavorful it was, one of my favorite dishes this year. It's called a spinosini, with squid ink pasta, shrimp, seafood with a subtle crunch. Superb and delightful! The service also was top-notch; always attentive, even for someone who'd come solo!
Well I don’t want to get in trouble with my friends at the DC Morini, but the NY flagship has got it going on. They do fish so incredibly well here it’s hard to pass it up. The Branzino tonight was done to perfection. My friend had the Grimigna pasta, one of my all time favorites. If you’re looking for an amazing meal with some Northern Italian panache you’ve got to stop by.
I went to this restaurant a few years ago and it was a wonderful, elegant dining experience. This time it was pretty much a completely different place- not at all elegant, kind of loud, way more casual, generally not what we were looking for in a special dinner, so we ended up just having drinks and going somewhere else. The service was very nice though, and if I was looking for something less fancy I think it’s still a decent restaurant for good Italian food.
