Osteria Morini - New Jersey
While my friend and I planned to be seated; seating was available at the bar so we dined there. Our bartender, Veronica, was on top of her game and made the evening all the more fun.
The food was very good the service was horrible the noise level even only having 3 other tables was so Lou did you could not have a conversation I would only recommend to some one in the are Not worth the drive for me
Great food and design!
Trouble-free: Good service, good ambiance, menu straightforward, food was well proportioned, wine list a bit pricey but can BYO as an option.
Thank God the food was good otherwise there would be no point in stopping in. The service is non -existent and painfully slow. We were celebrating a special occasion and while I made mention of it in my reservation, absolutely NOTHING was done regarding it during our visit. Not even a mention. This wasn't the first time this has happened either. Why ask if you don't plan on acknowledging why your customers are visiting your restaurant. What used to be an excellent restaurant has gone down drastically due to their exceptionally poor service and changing menu which happened to take off any of the items that were actually a hit (Petroniana). At a certain point the price of the meal is no longer worth it when the service is utterly atrocious. We will not be rushing back anytime soon and either should you. Consider other options as there are plenty in the area.
This is the second time we’ve been and the food is beyond amazing! And you can’t beat the $12 Sunday pasta special. My almost 2 year old eats the entire bowl of pasta and still wants some of mine. Servers are wonderful, ambiance is beautiful and the prices you can’t beat. For food that rivals some of the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever been to you have to try this place!
This was a disappointing visit to one of our favorite places. It took over 20 minutes for our drink orders to be taken and delivered to the table. We placed our appetizer order when the drinks came, but weren't asked for entrée orders until after we finished the appetizer. We were never asked if everything was satisfactory with our meal and on top of this, the hostess had to come over to help our server multiple times. The food was outstanding as always despite the poor service.
A great find for dining with friends. Food was fantastic in taste and presentation. Want to try it all. Service was perfect. Can't wait to go back.
Food was fair at best. Shrimp and lobster spaghetti was poor due to a thin unseasoned sauce that reminded us of canned tomato sauce. My second dish was better but just OK. Excellent waitress- very good service. Italian restaurant running out of angel hair pasta?
Delicious rustic Italian bread. Enjoyed the flavorful arugula salad with strawberries, and the fresh sea scallops entree.
Look forward to returning to try different dishes and watching the kitchen team in action.
I can't say much more than: the food was fantastic.
Perfect evening. Great service by Joe, who was attentive when required and left us to chat and visit as desired. We were unaware of the pasta Sunday night special... we would return for that alone! $12 for the best choices anywhere. We shared a pasta and meatballs to start. Dinners were a grilled chicken, scallops on a bed of grains, and 2 chose the special cod. All were excellent! We indulged in ricotta donuts for dessert...so light and delicious.
Friendly, efficient service. The food is Outstanding! Our new favorite place!
I came with 4 people on 5/16, and dinner was fine because we had their last good server, Alex. We came again on 5/24 with 8 people, and while the food was generally good, the charcuterie was horrendous and the service was worse. Had to ask for water twice, for the table to be cleared. Never asked for refill of the alcoholic drinks. Server with no personality and too many tables. Longtime customer that will not be back unless they get better servers.
I had a great experience first time I was here a few months ago so decided to book a mother's day dinner. I felt weird being shuffled through a narrow side corridor, past some staff closet into what looked like a make shift dining room. NOW I realize we were seated in the rear dining room of Nicoletta Pizza next door. I had made a reservation at Osteria Morini for its food AND rustic ambience, not the pizzeria. This room felt dingy with scuffed walls. The tables were bare laminate without any placemats or candles, just a paper napkin with a fork and knife. Just wanting to make the best of it, we ordered our food and waited. And waited. The waitress was friendly and tried her best, but the poor girl seemed like she was given too much to do. It took about 40 minutes just for our bread. The half size pasta, though tasty, came out in a small kid's soup bowl. The waiter who brought the food out didn't even ask if we wanted fresh parmesan (at an Italian restaurant!?!)! When we asked, he brought it out in a disposable plastic sauce cup. The bass smelled fishy and not fresh. Everything else was fine but we felt extremely disappointed overall. And most aggravating part was everyone in the room had to wait over an hour an half to get the main course.
Ultimately I think they opened up Nicoletta Pizza's dining room to book more tables on Mother's day night and they were short staffed. If the atmosphere and service matched the main dining room of Osteria Morini and everything was seamless, I wouldn't be writing this review. Whoever decided to open up the crappy dining area to pack in more customers made patrons feel cheated, especially when they chose the restaurant on a special night. It's a real shame.
Food is standard but their service needs more care like cleaning the table in each course of meal when dirty.
The food was a little uneven, from good to excellent. The Cappelletti was one of the very best pastas that I have ever had, but the Gramigna was only so-so compared to past visits here (good but not great). The service was poor at times. We had to request water on three occasions and utensils on two — utensils were taken away after each course, new courses were brought, but no new utensils were brought. This was unacceptable and frustrating, especially when it happened twice, for any restaurant, particularly one of this caliber. But, there is enough standout food that I will return.
Delicious food and great service! Never disappointed.
Good food and service. Waiter changed my beer order from a draft to a bottle without complaint.
Resturaunt has lost its luster over past few years from a management level (table not ready despite Rez, apps didn’t come out same time, etc). Had a fantastic waiter who made up for it
Always a great experience at Osteria Morini. We live a distance and don’t mind driving for a great experience from start to finish. The food is always delicious as is the service.
Food and service were great for dinner. Bar and bartender not so much.
Well we were there last Friday and it was great ! Then we went again the next Sunday and it was completely disorganized.
The manager was not very friendly and the waiter whom we had to ask for everything made us feel as if we were inconveniencing him.
Consistent amazing food :-)
Our favorite restaurant. Amazing food. Consistent cook. Just love it!!!
Very good food and service. Authentic Italian dishes with creative twist. Nice wine list.
Can always expect great food and great service
Pasta was phenomenal! We loved everything about this place!
We received a gift certificate from our daughters and Osteria Morini was the closest one to our home. We're so glad we chose it. The food was so delicious and the wine selection was great too. It's our new favorite local restaurant!
Birthday dinner with the family
Tasteless italian food from a Michael White restaurant.
The Osteria imagined as a homage to his mentor in Italy.
A bottle of Prosecco comparable to Mineral water....
The only positives... the crusty bread and hummus.
Samantha was an exceptional hostess as well our server,
Morgan... very animated.
The restaurant had exceptional food when known as Due Terre...
As a chain of Michael White....AVOID‼️
It is worth noting that the pasta is homemade which is rare to find these days. IMO no good Italian restaurant should make pasta from the box. You can tell the difference and that is where Osteria Morini sets itself apart. All of the food is good, but the apps/salads and the pasta are exceptional. Other entrees are good, but wont necessarily leave you wit the same feeling as the pasta. All desserts are exceptional as well.
I was there on a Monday night, only ones in the restaurant (not a busy night in Bernardsville). Started at 8 PM, by the time we were eating entree's the restaurant was all cleaned up and ready to close, but I get it. Note that this did not hinder service. Great beers, I am sure the wine list is good too.
Its not cheap, but it won't break the bank. The food is priced appropriately for the quality. There are more expensive restaurants in the area with worse quality food.
Ambiance: The bar feels just right, its got that good old European tap, wooden ceilings, open kitchen. Everything looks right. But the music is a bit off. Classic Rock.... odd choice for this restaurant.
Definitely worth coming here a few times to taste a few items. Their pasta's come in half and full sizes, so you can order more to taste.
Good as always. Service was a bit slow especially since it was a weeknight and not very crowded. We will be back. Pastas all yummy and fresh.
It was excellent.
We live in the neighborhood and like this restaurant a lot but it’s a little over priced . Cocktails are ridiculously expensive and portions are relatively small , but the quality of the food is very good . The homemade pastas are really good , even the gluten free😉 we had a nice dinner but the service was very poor and the bill was around $400 for 6 people
Still love this place but wish they would make a few changes
Great food, ambience, sort of an open kitchen concept. The service is good, nothing extraordinary but the food was well presented, tasty and the price was right. I found the price on their wine list expensive for my taste. Paid 16 Dollars for a rather mediocre glass of wine. Other than that I recommend this place for Italian food
best italian restaurant in nj. homemade pasta
wonderful quality of ingredients and preparations.
comfortable hip ambience
Had not been yet, but wanted to give it a try for a casual week night dinner. Food was just OK...and pricey for what it was. I don't think I would go back.
We really loved our dinner here- the food was excellent and our service was outstanding, even on a busy Saturday night. A little pricey but that's normal for the area. Pastas were particularly excellent. Would definitely return!
