About Osteria Morini - New Jersey
Osteria Morini, first introduced in 2010 to New York’s Soho neighborhood, was conceived from Chef Michael White’s dream to bring the same soulful cuisine and convivial spirit of Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region to the United States. After making our original home in Soho, in downtown Manhattan we thought it was time to share the love with the Garden State. Chef Michael White and the Altamarea Group have always made a commitment to bring top quality food from New York to New Jersey. That commitment has been reaffirmed by bringing the highly acclaimed Soho restaurant, Osteria Morini, to Bernardsville, New Jersey.

Osteria Morini - New Jersey Ratings and Reviews
It is worth noting that the pasta is homemade which is rare to find these days. IMO no good Italian restaurant should make pasta from the box. You can tell the difference and that is where Osteria Morini sets itself apart. All of the food is good, but the apps/salads and the pasta are exceptional. Other entrees are good, but wont necessarily leave you wit the same feeling as the pasta. All desserts are exceptional as well.
I was there on a Monday night, only ones in the restaurant (not a busy night in Bernardsville). Started at 8 PM, by the time we were eating entree's the restaurant was all cleaned up and ready to close, but I get it. Note that this did not hinder service. Great beers, I am sure the wine list is good too.
Its not cheap, but it won't break the bank. The food is priced appropriately for the quality. There are more expensive restaurants in the area with worse quality food.
Ambiance: The bar feels just right, its got that good old European tap, wooden ceilings, open kitchen. Everything looks right. But the music is a bit off. Classic Rock.... odd choice for this restaurant.
Definitely worth coming here a few times to taste a few items. Their pasta's come in half and full sizes, so you can order more to taste.
We live in the neighborhood and like this restaurant a lot but it’s a little over priced . Cocktails are ridiculously expensive and portions are relatively small , but the quality of the food is very good . The homemade pastas are really good , even the gluten free😉 we had a nice dinner but the service was very poor and the bill was around $400 for 6 people
Still love this place but wish they would make a few changes
Great food, ambience, sort of an open kitchen concept. The service is good, nothing extraordinary but the food was well presented, tasty and the price was right. I found the price on their wine list expensive for my taste. Paid 16 Dollars for a rather mediocre glass of wine. Other than that I recommend this place for Italian food
Great Food as always. Just horrible service as always. Drinks from bar take forever to get to table. The waitstaff is clueless about service. Plates and glasses literally dropped on the table in a haphazard fashion.
The kitchen was very slow. A long wait between appetizers and the main course. But the food is delicious. What can you do.
Had a reservation for 8pm for 8 people. Didn’t have the table ready and then they tried to seat us at a table meant for 4 with expandle pop up sections which only expands to a table for 6. You would think for a reservation for 8 they would have better prepared themselves. Obviously not.
We celebrated Christmas Eve there. The service was very slow and in-attentive.
It was a fix price menu and we felt it was way too pricey for what it was.
There were a few people roaming around the room all the time, which we assumed were management, but we couldn’t figure out why it took so many of them to do nothing for Service .
Another winner from Chef Micheal White. Casual but cozy setting. Gluten free pasta is made in house and was delicious. Pastas are available in full and half orders. Good wine by the glass selections. We enjoyed the chocolate flourless cake - if you are GF - ask them to leave out the cookie crumbs and the affogato.
We will definitely go back the next time we're in the area.
We were sad and disappointed. We have been loyal customers since this restaurant opened and have watched the food quality decline. The food was overly salty and cheesy overcoming the fresh pasta. The wait staff is young and sweet but untrained. In a nearly empty restaurant we were seated next to a large multi generational party. The children were largely unsupervised and playing with various noisy toys throughout the meal.
If the food was up to its original standards we might have overlooked the rude party but the total experience made us not want to return. We are truly sad as this was our "go to" fresh pasta and cheese and meat board restaurant. We won't be returning
The food was outstanding, some of the best we’ve had. The ingredients were fresh. Unfortunately, three dishes arrived cold and rather than reheat them as requested the kitchen remade them and it was over a half hour until everyone at the table had their food. We were told the delay was because the oven broke.
When the dishes finally came back out one had a melted piece of what appeared to be plastic in it.
The management apologized and removed those meals from the bill but unfortunately, it was too late to correct the errors at that point. Half of our party went home unfed.
We’ve been here several times before and loved it each time. This time was way way off. The waiter was awful - couldn’t recommend a pasta or choices for the charcuterie, told us they were out of the cocktail that we ordered that was on the menu - 10 minutes later the bartender brought it over??? And when questioned to be sure he had to run back to double check and make sure it was actually for our table? Every other time we’ve had great service and great food - this time the food was good but service and overall vibe (1/3 empty at 8pm on a Saturday night?) was not something I would choose to return for
Went to dinner with a friend who had a gift card she had received as a gift. The food was great. The wine was wonderful. The service from our waiter was terrible and put a dent in the evening. He was unhappy with the lack of help in the restaurant which he vocalized to us.
Definitely not the caliber of staff this restaurant should be employing.
We went two times in one week. The first time was this past Friday. The restaurant was very full. Our friends arrived before us, and were seated and had their drinks. When our server came over and took the drink order, we expected ours to arrive in a few minutes. NOPE. we waited and waited and the drinks were wrong. Again another long wait. That experience ruined the rest of the dinner. My appetite was gone. We decided to try again last night. Restaurant not nearly as crowded, but still the same slow service. Long wait for drinks, and the meal took forever to come to the table. I wanted the chicken but the restaurant didn’t have chicken last night. Settled for mixed grill and it was just okay. I will not go back. As Due Terre, this restaurant was great. Not anymore. Sorry for the bad review but I can’t think of anything nice to put down here.
I've been here three times now and each time was outstanding. Consistency is key with me and I know I can have the same dish prepared the same way and never be disappointed. Everything is good -- the buratta appetizer with figs & prosciutto is amazing, and we always get the Zuppa de Pesce -- but where they really excel is their pastas. Each one is prepared thoughtfully with the freshest ingredients and homemade pasta and they are better than anything I've ever had in the area. I also love the bustling open kitchen and general positive vibe. Go!
We had a wonderful evening. The food was excellent and recommendations by the server were spot on. I had the roasted mushroom pasta and it was delicious, tasty and sophisticated. REally happy . Our friends had the Bronzino and said it was the best they have ever had, it can often be tasteless and plain. Very impressed, we will definitely go back again. It was even better than when we were there a year ago.
The food is really delicious (Garganelli pasta is our favorite, and the Monday night pasta special for $10 can't be beat). Still, the service is usually terrible. We've had a few instances where it was good, but that seems to be waiter specific. They did a better job this time of filling our water glasses (still can't understand why they don't give bigger glasses), but they forgot our bread. We saw a table next to us get a second basket, so we wondered if they got our bread by mistake? We even asked the waiter for break, but they never brought it out. This seems par for the course (on a previous night, they brought the bread as we were getting ready to pay - really?). I don't understand how the service is so terrible, but the food is so delicious. It's worth it, but it's annoying, too.
Sadly a disappointment. Food and ambiance was a shade of it's former life as Due Terra. No change in sound lever, perhaps worst. It's very noisy and could not hold a reasonable conversation. Had planned on bringing another couple but decided to check it out first. A wise decision.
The food has become dull and lacking the creativity of old. Waiter staff was competent but seemed rushed and distracted. It was a Friday and busy, so perhaps they were just at their limit.
The place seemed busy and I can only hope that carries through for the entire week, but for me, with so many good restaurants around what's the point?
