Osteria Morini DC
Osteria Morini pays homage to the casual and rustic cuisine and ambiance of the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. Osteria Morini is a casual Italian restaurant from Chef Michael White. In Italian, “osteria” means a place where the owner “hosts” guests, and at Osteria Morini, Chef White continues this tradition of hospitality, transforming his first Washington, D.C. restaurant into an authentic, old-world osteria with soulful food from the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy.

We attentive and informative, knew when to intervene and knew when we needed something, our tip reflect this higher level of knowledge and patience.
Very good food!
Outdoor dining in a warmer time of year would be even better, the interior spaces were a bit too noisy.
Osteria Morini has been on my list to try, and my expectations were completely exceeded! It was my mom's birthday, which they acknowledged when we arrived and throughout the evening. The restaurant is gorgeous with waterfront location and nice outdoor seating with heaters. The waiter was very professional and gave us spectacular suggestions. EVERY BITE WAS DELICIOUS and beautifully presented. The uovo al tartufo appetizer with fonduta was creative, creamy and dreamy. The duck and veal chop were delicious, and the pasta with red sauce and fennel I ordered was perfect. I was sad that I let the birthday girl take home my leftovers...Creme Brulee was light as air and a perfect ending to the evening. "Alex C" was our server and really represented well-- obviously enjoying his job, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food, and very attentive. Will recommend and happily return!
We joined a family member who lives in DC at his recommendation. I dad a wonderful Brandon filet, perfectly grilled and moist, my husband a veal filet, which he destroyed, and my cousin the duck breast. We selected an orangy Pinot Gris..with Obvioso, as part of its name. As our waitress assured us, it went nicely with everyone’s meal.
Despite the size of the restaurant, out table felt quiet and conversation was easy. Service was excellent. I’d happily recommend this restaurant to other diners.
Great food, great staff. Know their wine and pasta. Wine menu is pricey.
The food was okay, but not worth the price in my opinion. The cheese platter was really good. Our waitress was very rude to my boyfriend (his first language is spanish) and she was clearly getting impatient with his questions in trying to clarify the menu. Overall not bad, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Nothing like Morini in NY. Decent water front location , but food was above average. Maybe Michael White has finally spread himself too thin.
I had the Cappelletti and it was quite good, but it lists "proscuitto" in the description and there was barely one little scrap of meat in the dish, not even sure if I would consider it a garnish. Portion could be a bit bigger as I was still hungry when I got home. We shared the Cacio e Pepe salad and it was very good too. I asked for some Parmesan on my pasta and was a bit horrified when they brought me the dehydrated powder from a can, and not shaved Parmesan.
Very tasty, especially dessert! Need more veggie options.
As a regular customer I was disappointed in the usually good service
Not expecting this review request. But will be honest. The pasta dish was not cooked enough! The pasta was tough! Not cooked enough. Should have not returned , but thought the first few bites were not what the test would be! Bottom line, the chef must make sure the past is not undercooked! I know, I should have returned the Dish after the second bite, but it never should have come to me like this. Not at these prices! Wine was overpriced! Not much you can do about taxes, but really , DC is pushing people to VA!
My granddaughter and I had a lovely time on the deck with Prosecco cheese bread and fun
Very good food served fresh - and warm - from the kitchen. Very pleasant view of the water and near a river walk by the Navy Yard. You'll like it.
We are foodies and when I tell you that the capelletti pasta was probably one of the best things I have ever eaten, I am not exaggerating. The butter and truffle sauce was so decadent. My husband joked, "do you think we could get a couple of orders to go!" Definitely have to have that again and again!
Was in D.C. for a few days and this came highly recommended. Being an outpost of a NY original we wanted to try, certainly didnt disappoint glad we can continue enjoying as we head back home to NY. Service, food, location all top notch. Had a wonderful evening!! Definitely recommend.
Osteria Morini DC is a dining establishment that keeps you coming back for more! We've been to this restaurant at least five times; their meatballs are the real deal!
This was a first class establishment from fin start to finish. The waiting staff were prompt and attentive without being smothering. The sommelier was extremely helpful, and selected a an amazing bottle of wine for us. The food was top tier, and some of the best we’ve ever eaten. My sea bass was perfectly cooked, and my wife’s pork chop was expertly prepare. We order two sides (fried fingerling potatoes and arugula salad) both were perfect. Even the bread was memorable! The dining rooms was clean and modern, with clean lines and huge windows, but it still managed to come off as warm and cozy. We had a great time at O Morini’s and can’t wait to come back.
The food was excellent however the service was a bit slow. Staff very nice but not that attentive to our needs. Did not check in with us as often as they should have. Didn't even realize that our food had been served by someone else because the server did not come by until after we were done eating and plates cleaned away.
We met a friend here for lunch on Monday. The food and service were both great - salads were tasty and generous; the frittata was also very good. It was not noisy but I realize we were here on a slow day (!). I have heard it can be quite loud in the evenings.
Every time the menu is better and better. Consistent high quality and professional courteous service. the staff is knowledgeable and seems to love their work.
Osteria Morini is our favorite restaurant. We've eaten there quite a few times and even hosted a dinner for 20 of our friends at the restaurant. The staff is always personable and attentive. The food is consistently excellent and unique. The wine list and cocktails are interesting. We highly recommend Osteria Morini for special occasions, an impromptu meal a the bar (see what interesting drinks the bartenders may have to offer), or anything in between.
Always nice to stop here before a Nats game. Excellent food and service. We had 2 pasta dishes and the ensalata mista which were very delicious. Aperol crush great.
Wonderful food that always excells. I'm only sorry that I can never stay for dessert. Overall, great experience!
Always happy with the food, and service. My daughter loves cappelletti. I tried a crab and pasta dish and it was wonderful. Drinks are innovative. I was especially grateful to bar tender for making a chocolate shake for my husband
I've had better. I've had better at Osteria Morini. Service by waiter was excellent. Insalata Mista and crispy potatoes good. Support staff wears way too much fragrance, which was nauseating and may have affected the taste of my dish. The crab mafaldine with citrus sauce was a complete miss. Orange citrus overpowered crab, and did not taste good with pasta. First batch of focaccia was stale and disappointing but second batch was fresh and delicious, as it has been in the past. Only one party in resto when we arrived but we were seated by patio door. Great seat for people watching, horrible seat because staff kept going in and out of the door causing hot, humid air to constantly hit us as we sat in cool A/C. Very uncomfortable and off-putting.
While the food here is quite good, the ambiance suffers greatly because the bar area is unduly noisy.
Love this place!!! Never lets us down!
Every entrée and dish was impeccable. We were served quickly, and our waiter was knowledgeable and advised us on good options from their amazing menu.
Loved the food, everything had the perfect balance of taste.
I love the neighborhood this is in (especially in the summer). The food is a little expensive, but it’s always delicious. Service was attentive without ever being overbearing. One of my favorite spots for a summer date night.
Great pasta dishes and awesome fish. Server was knowledgeable and attentive.
Pasta was amazing, everything else was okay...
Brought friends from out of town before a Nats game. Each of us had a different pasta and they were all great. We’ll be back!
My husband and I did the fixed price brunch, which was a great deal. The food was delicious. Our waiter recommended the salted caramel gelato, and it did not disappoint.
The food was wonderful but the prices were much too high in our opinion.
We sat outside on the patio facing the lawn. No breeze so it became a bit uncomfortable.
The food tasted very good, although there was little pork sausage in the Graminga.
The food was exquisite. Both pasta dishes were perfectly prepared. The branzino was delicious.
Thought the setting was nice and the food was very good. However, it was a bit pricey for the amount of food you get.
I can't recommend the duck enough, it was seriously one of the best plates I've ever had.
You won't find better Italian food. The service, as always, is a little unconcerned.
