Awesome! Loved the outdoor seating by the water.
I went here for brunch and what a great decision! Delicious food. Great service, and I was able to sit outside.
We took a dear friend from Japan with a hearing problem to dinner, and she loved the food. However, it was very noisy. The waitstaff and the hostess and manager were all very kind about allowing us to move out to the patio for dessert so we could escape the noise. We had a lovely time, as always.
Food was delicious as always - had burger for first time- while it was delicious, it was too salty
It’s one of my favorites in Dc. I came more than 6 times in the last 3 months I recommended to all my friends.
Grabbed dinner outside. Good food. Nice ambiance. A bit pricey.
Excellent food plus large portions. Service is good, waiters checking in regularly, filling glasses, bringing extra bread, etc. I'd certainly recommend going for brunch, as they have a wide array of options that allow for most dietary needs as well as any cravings one may have for pasta, fish, other meats, etc. Also, they make a very tasty Bloody Mary! Will be back with family and friends!
Best rigatoni around!!! Also, if you go for brunch the pancakes are to die for! We were really excited that their desserts didn’t contain nut ingredients and that we were able to enjoy dessert out for a change (great place for others with nut allergies)!! Everything is delicious and the staff is incredibly friendly!
We had an incredible meal of blue crab & an amazing chocolate Carmel dessert.
Outstanding service and quality!
The ricotta pancakes were absolutely delightful. We also had the romaine and fried capers salad, the prosciutto di parma, parmigiano and soppressata with grilled bread, tagliatelle, and lemon basil shortcake, mascarpone cream and strawberries and blueberry sorbet for dessert. All were excellent. Service was great. We will definitely return to dine here again.
Great experience! The food was delicious!
Great find, wonderful food. Three couples each of us got a different entree and each one was excellent. The octopus appetizer was delightful. Our waiter was very helpful. Would definitely return.
Excellent meal in a fabulous location. Never would have known about it except for Open Table
Absolutely amazing. Jamie and Rob are fabulous
Nice space, fresh food, you can sit outside with a view of the water in nice weather. Accommodating service. We had the Ceaesar and mixed salads - both very fresh and generous size. Crab pasta was also good but the Gramigna pasta was a bit too heavy. Also, it's frustrating they do not offer half-portions as is so common in Italy. Overall, it was a pretty good meal, but seems just a notch too expensive for what it is, which prevents this from being a regular place for us.
Absolutely incredible. Have been suggesting the restaurant to everyone in my circles since we ate there.
FRANKLIN IS THE MAN!!!
Table was by door, not best location, would've preferred different table since it was a bit cramped (yes others available). Food was good
The food was very good however the server was less than spectacular. I think she was either bothered to be working or bothered by our presence. Part of the dining experience is the ambiance and service, and this is why I wouldn’t recommend a visit.
For the price to food ratio and the service I would probably not go here again, but it was worth a shot.
Another point: The server had 7 meals on the bill and clearly there were 6 people at the table. Needless to say the Mothers Day guests all gave me “the Look”for selecting this restaurant.
Excellent food. Will be on top of my list going forward.
Morini is my favorite restaurant in the Navy Yard, on a typical day. But, for the special occasions, I don't think I'd choose Morini again. The food is normally spectacular and reliably good. On Mother's Day though, the food was cold and even not cooked all the way (our potatoes seemed under cooked). Same for the service, normally spectacular and reliable, but on Mother's Day, the waitress wasn't friendly, wasn't around all that much, and even seemed snarky at one point. None of these issues have ever happened to us in all the times we've been. This was our first time trying a Special Occasion, fixed family style offering and we were disappointed.
Our server Jackie made the evening special. Food is fair, fresh, a little too noisy inside but outside is nice.
We always love Osteria Morini. My one complaint is that you cannot make a reservation for the patio. If you make a reservation (at least through open table), you will be seated indoors as their patio is "first come first serve". It was a beautiful night, so we were disappointed that it was not an option.
Food is always good. No complaints. Wait staff is attentive and even noticed that they had given us the wrong cheese and quickly remedied it.
Incredibly overpriced for such small portions. $30 for a bowl of soup with some small pieces of seafood in it. Same for tiny bowl of pasta. Food was good though, shame there wasn’t more of it.
The food was mediocre and definitely not worth the $60 I spent on lunch for myself. In that $60 was two glasses of overpriced wine.
Very nice location at Navy Yard.
Our waitress Maya was excellent!
Ordered a very tasty branzino and a wonderful rigatoni.
The cheese cake with rhubarb dessert was amazing.
Will definitely return.
I have been to Osteria many times - and have always been thrilled. This time - not so much. I chose to take my niece here for a birthday dinner. The octopus app was tough and the blend of other parts of the dish were off balance. The 2 pasta mains were wonderful, completely up to expectations. The strawberry dessert...”meh” would have been a generous description. It was flat, seemingly almost stale. The outdoor ambiance is fabulous. I hope this was just a one off, I would hate to take this favorite DC restaurant out of rotation.
Excellent and prompt service. Our server was unsure regarding our asks about the wine list and promptly brought the sommelier to the table. We learned a lot about the particular choices of Italian wines on the list and his recommendation was spot on.
Both the server and the sommelier never seemed rushed and attended to us even if a relatively busy evening.
The outdoor seating facing the Anacostia River gives a lovely ambience.
We enjoyed our meal choices and all were prepared well with appetizing presentations.
Waitress was very inattentive, forgot an appetizer order. Picked up our own drink at the bar after waiting far too long. Food was good in spite of service.
I took friends from out of town who like Italian and they enjoyed it. Food is good as expected and it was a lovely evening to sit outside!
Food was delicious but the service was so slow and SURLY we would never go back or recommend it. Do not order the broccoli, beans and olive side dish...it's all beans and olives!
My mom and I went to Osteria Morini for a girls' night out and absolutely loved it. We shared a pasta to start and then an entree and a side but each got our own desserts. It was a perfect way to make a three course meal! The tagliatelle was incredibly tasty and the fresh bread was a perfect addition. For dessert, our server suggested the lavender ice cream which my mom was really skeptical of, but it ended up being amazing. Wine was okay, but we had just come from enjoying a glass of wine next door at District Winery, so it just didn't quite compare. Overall a great experience! We will definitely come here again!
Outstanding service!! Food was delicious! Tortino for dessert is highly recommended!!
Food was ok, but seemed over priced. Several of us got pasta dishes that were underwhelming. The octopus appetizer was good. The desserts were similarly ok, but nothing to brag about.
The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, although as to be expected it was very loud. It was very hard to hear the person next to you, but that’s typical of DC restaurants. Our waiter was wonderful, he offered up some great recommendations and was extremely helpful. The food as hands down incredible. My one complaint, was the busser. She kept hovering over our table and asking if she could remove items even when we were still clearly eating them. I think she stopped at our table 5 times will we were having our first course, every time asking if we were done, even though food was on our plate. By the last time we just were so annoyed and let her take the plate, even though we still had burrata sitting on. I appreciate them wanting to clear tables, but this was a bit much. Other than that, I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a great Italian meal.
The pasta sauces were watery wet, the duck in the duck ragu tasted like it had all the life boiled out of it. Very disappointing.
I’ve been here severall times after Nats games but location is it’s best asset ... octopus first course so tough almost required a steak knife, the branzino was very small portion and dry...
Prices comp with other wharf area restaurants so no a good value
I visited Osteria Morini's for lunch before a Washington Nationals game last week. I ordered from their lunch special menu. An app and entree for $27. Great value and both dishes met my expectation. My Insalata Mista was lightly dressed and had crisp, crunchy asparagus. My Cappelletti was cooked al dente with a fantastic butter sauce. Cocktails are extremely well made and I was so tempted to order a second Morini Classic. I can't wait to go back and try their dinner menu! I must try if you are in the Navy Yard area.
Some dishes were very good (polpo), other much less. For ex., the brodetto was too watery and not with the original types of fishes that the recipe calls for. Our server was very nice, don't know her name...
