Osteria Morini DC
Osteria Morini pays homage to the casual and rustic cuisine and ambiance of the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. Osteria Morini is a casual Italian restaurant from Chef Michael White. In Italian, “osteria” means a place where the owner “hosts” guests, and at Osteria Morini, Chef White continues this tradition of hospitality, transforming his first Washington, D.C. restaurant into an authentic, old-world osteria with soulful food from the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy.

Ordered food to go. Was only given half of our $100 dinner
When we arrived, 5 workers were standing around the front not really working. Sat at the bar for a drink and it felt like I was inconveniencing the bartender by ordering a drink. When we got to the table, we let the server,Maya, know we would have three not four guest and she was clearly disturbed by that information. One of our guest was not that hungry and asked if she could have a child mac and cheese and Maya said, "No.". She then said we could have one but it would be at a full menu price. $20 for a bowl of mac and cheese! When our food came out, it was quite tasty but we never saw Maya again. She was hanging at the bar chilling with the bartender. When we left, the same five workers were hanging out at the counter. So many other choices of restaurants in the dc area where you feel welcomed.
A wonderful combination of Italian warmth and cutting edge Waterfront ambiance. The homemade pastas are all terrific. Service was splendid, as was the view from the wall of windows looking out at the river. Casual but upscale atmosphere.
Really lively atmosphere, and the food is delicious. We shared meatballs and cleaned the plate, and the seafood stew-soup was really outstanding. Pasta dishes were excellent. Chicken was probably the weakest entree but still tasty. Love the waterfront and convenient to walk to Arena Stage and the Wharf so this is a great choice for a fun evening out.
Amazing food and service. Our server, Maya, was terrific and we had a great conversation with Midal. Good wine and lovely white truffles.
Great from start to finish.
Great food and service
Maybe the best ribeye steak I've ever had. Excellent wine selection.
The food is excellent and creative. This was my third trip to the restaurant. I have dined at the bar and at a table. Both are delightful. The wine list has good choices and the server was helpful in selecting an appropriate wine. This place is now one of my favorites.
Great meal....best food I have had in awhile in DC!
Delicious food and great atmosphere
My dining group got three homemade pasta dishes (one veggie and two meat), three vegetable side dishes, one dessert, and wine. Everything we ordered was delightful. The Riso dessert was one of the best and most decadent desserts I have ever had. Service was great. After one visit, this restaurant has risen to one of my favorite in DC. I can't wait to return!
The cheese and meat board was a great start, the pastas were delicious, and dessert was a nice and light way to end the night. Service was also great, will definitely return.
Thank you Osteria for a wonderful and memorable dinner last night! My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary and the staff treated us like VIP. Gave us great recommendations, served us complimentary Prosecco, and served us a few additional drinks on the house.
The customer service there is like no other in the city which is why we keep coming back.
Love it every time we go!
The food at Osteria Morini never fails to disappoint. A lot of sound and fury signifying not a good meal. And at these price points--a terrible value
Great bargain with their 2- or 3-course lunch specia , and the choices on the menu were authentic and delicious. Give this place a try!
The food was excellent. Well prepared and nicely presented. Service was also excellent with personal attention by both the bartender and the general manager. Ambiance was very pleasant and one could speak at a normal volume without problems.
The food was fabulous.
Best Focaccia this side of the Atlantic :))
Lived in Italy for many years, this is authentic.
Bartender forgot about us. Dinner took forever.
The service was truly outstanding and our dinner was VERY tasty, great place on the newly developing SW Waterfront.
We attentive and informative, knew when to intervene and knew when we needed something, our tip reflect this higher level of knowledge and patience.
Very good food!
Outdoor dining in a warmer time of year would be even better, the interior spaces were a bit too noisy.
Osteria Morini has been on my list to try, and my expectations were completely exceeded! It was my mom's birthday, which they acknowledged when we arrived and throughout the evening. The restaurant is gorgeous with waterfront location and nice outdoor seating with heaters. The waiter was very professional and gave us spectacular suggestions. EVERY BITE WAS DELICIOUS and beautifully presented. The uovo al tartufo appetizer with fonduta was creative, creamy and dreamy. The duck and veal chop were delicious, and the pasta with red sauce and fennel I ordered was perfect. I was sad that I let the birthday girl take home my leftovers...Creme Brulee was light as air and a perfect ending to the evening. "Alex C" was our server and really represented well-- obviously enjoying his job, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food, and very attentive. Will recommend and happily return!
We joined a family member who lives in DC at his recommendation. I dad a wonderful Brandon filet, perfectly grilled and moist, my husband a veal filet, which he destroyed, and my cousin the duck breast. We selected an orangy Pinot Gris..with Obvioso, as part of its name. As our waitress assured us, it went nicely with everyone’s meal.
Despite the size of the restaurant, out table felt quiet and conversation was easy. Service was excellent. I’d happily recommend this restaurant to other diners.
Great food, great staff. Know their wine and pasta. Wine menu is pricey.
The food was okay, but not worth the price in my opinion. The cheese platter was really good. Our waitress was very rude to my boyfriend (his first language is spanish) and she was clearly getting impatient with his questions in trying to clarify the menu. Overall not bad, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Nothing like Morini in NY. Decent water front location , but food was above average. Maybe Michael White has finally spread himself too thin.
I had the Cappelletti and it was quite good, but it lists "proscuitto" in the description and there was barely one little scrap of meat in the dish, not even sure if I would consider it a garnish. Portion could be a bit bigger as I was still hungry when I got home. We shared the Cacio e Pepe salad and it was very good too. I asked for some Parmesan on my pasta and was a bit horrified when they brought me the dehydrated powder from a can, and not shaved Parmesan.
Very tasty, especially dessert! Need more veggie options.
As a regular customer I was disappointed in the usually good service
Not expecting this review request. But will be honest. The pasta dish was not cooked enough! The pasta was tough! Not cooked enough. Should have not returned , but thought the first few bites were not what the test would be! Bottom line, the chef must make sure the past is not undercooked! I know, I should have returned the Dish after the second bite, but it never should have come to me like this. Not at these prices! Wine was overpriced! Not much you can do about taxes, but really , DC is pushing people to VA!
My granddaughter and I had a lovely time on the deck with Prosecco cheese bread and fun
Very good food served fresh - and warm - from the kitchen. Very pleasant view of the water and near a river walk by the Navy Yard. You'll like it.
We are foodies and when I tell you that the capelletti pasta was probably one of the best things I have ever eaten, I am not exaggerating. The butter and truffle sauce was so decadent. My husband joked, "do you think we could get a couple of orders to go!" Definitely have to have that again and again!
Was in D.C. for a few days and this came highly recommended. Being an outpost of a NY original we wanted to try, certainly didnt disappoint glad we can continue enjoying as we head back home to NY. Service, food, location all top notch. Had a wonderful evening!! Definitely recommend.
Osteria Morini DC is a dining establishment that keeps you coming back for more! We've been to this restaurant at least five times; their meatballs are the real deal!
The food was excellent however the service was a bit slow. Staff very nice but not that attentive to our needs. Did not check in with us as often as they should have. Didn't even realize that our food had been served by someone else because the server did not come by until after we were done eating and plates cleaned away.
This was a first class establishment from fin start to finish. The waiting staff were prompt and attentive without being smothering. The sommelier was extremely helpful, and selected a an amazing bottle of wine for us. The food was top tier, and some of the best we’ve ever eaten. My sea bass was perfectly cooked, and my wife’s pork chop was expertly prepare. We order two sides (fried fingerling potatoes and arugula salad) both were perfect. Even the bread was memorable! The dining rooms was clean and modern, with clean lines and huge windows, but it still managed to come off as warm and cozy. We had a great time at O Morini’s and can’t wait to come back.
