I love this place! The yummiest pasta and really great service.
Great ambiance and local food in Italian cuisine choices. Would highly recommend to try for drink and appetizer outside and dinner and wine/beer inside. Cuisine choices and service outstanding. Views relaxing and engaging. On drawback, inside noisy during busy peak hours- hard to keep up a shared conversation.
Osteria Morini is a perfect brunch destination! The location at the Navy Yard offers great views of the Anacostia and makes for great people watching. The views are only part of the experience, though. The food is easily some of the best in the DC metro area. I've been here several times and the menu never fails to impress! You can't go wrong if you get the panini, pasta, or the meatballs (GET THE MEATBALLS!). What's really takes the Osteria to the next level is the bar program. Tasty Bloody Marys, a great wine list, and a Prosecco special that you have to see to believe! Love this place!
We had a birthday celebration with a friend. The occasion was wonderful, but it was noisy. Food was wonderful
It is so loud in the dining room and the bar area is somewhat small. Still, very cool vibe and amazing pasta. Would have liked to see a more expansive wine list but our chosen bottle was still delish.
I've been to this restaurant several times and love the food. But it is too noisy, even this time at an earlier time in the evening, which we thought would make it better. It didn't really make much difference.
Osteria Morini has been a favorite since it opened. We stop by on impulse and eat at the bar. We plan ahead for a special evening with friends. We've even hosted a dinner for 20 there.
Food, service, drinks, and wine are always top notch!!
This visit was wonderful as always!!
Once again, Osteria Morini has delivered a delicious meal! My friend and I got the spinach lasagna and the ricotta ravioli in butter sauce and split it and everything was just scrumptious! Wonderful dinner, great service!
Service was inconsistent. The food, however, was as wonderful as always. We started with two appetizers: polpettini and burrata, both excellent. One of us had bronzino, which he enjoyed, and the other two had pasta dishes that were superb. Desserts always stand out here.
Osteria Morini is consistently one of the best restaurants in DC. They emphasize quality ingredients and want to make sure you have a fantastic meal. The service is perfect: warm, cordial and attentive but not overbearing or annoying. There are few restaurants that get it right as often as Osteria Morini.
The only downside was the valet was not yet set up when we arrived at 5pm. And there was only one staffer at valet, meaning he had to run to get the cars he’s parking. Very slow. Should be a two person operation.
My husband and I came here for the first time for his birthday lunch. It was a lovely experience! I told the restaurant ahead of time that it was his birthday and they held a window table with a waterfront view for us! They also let us pick a free dessert, which was really thoughtful.
The service was a bit slow (eventually had to walk to the front desk to ask for the check) but was very charming and helpful. The food was delicious and well portioned. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely-- big windows made it bright and sunny and the waterfront view was beautiful. It was a pretty place with good food and willingness to accommodate our special occasion. We'll be back.
For appetizer I had the tortellini broth, which was very tasty. For the entree I got the squid ink pasta. The pasta was good, but there was one pepper in the dish I didn’t expect. Because there was a sauce, all I could see was that it was red. I ate it and It was VERY spicy. I don’t mind some heat, especially distributed in the meal. But this was one bite that burned my tongue and made the rest of the dish less enjoyable.
As always, Osteria Morini was great - great food, attentive waiters who did not rush us at all, great ambiance, and a good value compared to other upscale Italian restaurants that charge near $50 per entree. My companion adored the pasta, and I had the short rib - one of their best! My only comment is that I would like to see some new entrees, especially seafood entrees. I eat at Osteria Morini ofter enough that I look forward to new plates on the menu.
Great place. Great service. Only issue is the very loud noise
First time there and food and ambience is very nice
Excellent food and good experience. Will definitely go back. Early in the evening and bad weather so it was quiet. Food was excellent with homemade pasta with duck ragu. Cheese plate was good. Wine was ok and would recommend they get stem wine glasses. I personally don’t like the stemless glasses as they cheapen the experience in the wine. Have the glasses match the food experience.
Because of the weather we needed flexibility as one of our party was stuck on Amtrak coming from New York. Everyone was very accommodating.
I love the food!!! Amazing!
There should be more 2-top tables that are not all along the bar. The seating options are the weakest thing about the restaurant. Waiter stations right next to the tables? NO!!!
It was my first visit to Osteria Morini. The food was delicious and the service was great. I will definitely be returning soon.
I greatly appreciate being seated immediately and not having to wait until my guest arrived - more and more DC restaurants are stopping that practice and it is outright annoying and inconvenient, especially having made a reservation.
Our server was friendly and very helpful in terms of the questions we had about the menu. The house made pastas were absolutely delicious and I look forward to returning to Osteria Morini very soon.
Incredible experience. Food was top notch, service was polite and attentive, will be back again.
Great food and cocktails. Very nice wine selection. Waiter was very helpful and just attentive enough to not be intrusive. The noise level is a little high for soft dinner conversation. I will definitely go back when I am in the area next.
Contemporary Italian food with good wine selection. It is a very energetic restaurant though, so if you are looking for a quiet traditional Italian restaurant, this is not the place.
Everything was outstanding! Our 6yo birthday boy and his 3yo little brother loved all the pastas! We loved every bit of all the foods we ordered.
Great server! Food ok. Need more vegetarian options. Nice beet salad. Server made it so pleasant.
Enjoyed the the Morini Monday special.
Second time back in four days. This time brought the rest of the family. Everyone enjoyed their meal. But I liked the special menu better on Valentines day. Dinner was still very good and I would highly recommend.
I have been to Morini plenty of times but for V Day I made a reservation for my younger twin sisters who are teenagers and myself. I was a little concerned that they wouldn't be willing to try anything but they both loved the ravioli!!! Thanks for the great experience!!!!
Great food, great drink, beautiful views, great value. You can have a traditional multi-course Italian meal like I have at my in-laws if you want, or choose from a few courses.
Waitress was fine but manager tried to push us out the door. Delivered check unasked for before dessert was even on table. Plates not removed at same time for entrees as is appropriate.
The food and service are absolutely amazing. I recommend having dessert too. Thet are decedent!
Pastas are yummy! Willing to accommodate various request!
Valentines Day dinner with a 4 course price fix meal. The food was delicious and inventive with generous portions. Service was attentive and prompt as our waitress checked on us regularly even though it was a very busy night.
The prices here are simply criminal. You would expect Michelin-star quality food here for what you pay, and it doesn’t even come close. Little imagination in the food, a could-be-anywhere-in-the exurbs ambience - just the absolute worst example of price gouging in the city’s restaurant scene.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself; the wait staff was professional, attentive and friendly. The food was outstanding as well as the wine selections which went well with each meal. I enjoyed myself so much that I have told several of my friends that they must visit O.M. The scenery was beautiful and romantic; not to loud or dark. If one needs to utilize the restroom just know that it too was clean and easy to use, unlike some restaurant where you wish you never entered the restroom. Lastly, feel free to drive because parking was close and cheap. Park in Lot Q for only $2.00 an hour, you can't beat that in DC.
I don’t know what it is about Valentine’s Day that makes DC restaurants phone it in. What a missed opportunity to attract customers with such a crowded, subpar, grotesque excuse of a dining experience.
The prix fixed menu was bland, uninspired, and an overall waste of calories and time. The vellutata and the panna cotta dessert were the best items. The oysters were drenched in a butter sauce, which kills the flavor of the oyster, but fret not...they top it with cheap caviar to reinsert that lost brininess. What an amateur move from a well-established restaurant. And how can Osteria Morini serve a bland pasta?! The duck ragu barely had flavor and the uni cream sauce tasted like bechamel.
Now the service...horrible.
I was bumped all night long by the servers and busers without ever hearing an apology. Not even when they knocked my elbow as I was drinking my wine. How about an apology when when they knocked over the beer from the table right next to us? Nope. No one gets service on Valentine’s Day. Our server stepped on my foot every time she walked by our table. No exaggeration. No apology, she just kept shooting me a “move your foot” look. How about giving me my wine pairing with each course? Nope, we had to flag her down and remind her each time that we didn’t have our wine.
Osteria Morini used to be my solid go-to restaurant whenever we couldn’t decide where to go for dinner, and I recommended it to everyone. Now, I’m never going back.
Food was excellent and our server was polite and professional. I recommend this restaurant especially since it is near the water.
TASTY FOOD & YET FEEL RIPPED OFF.
Overall the experience was fine, especially the smooth, integrated way we were served by no fewer than 4 different staff, BUTwhat we'll remember is that we got tricked into paying an EXTRA $55 per person.
We had been there before and wanted to return for a simple meal, which we knew would be <$30 per person (not counting a drink). We checked out Morini's website and then booked through Open Table. But only when we arrived were we told that the ONLY option was the Valentine's Day prix-fixe for $85/person (not counting any drinks). There had been no info re that on Open Table. On the Morini site there was no mention that on V-Day that they were serving ONLY the prix-fixe, and NOT the normal menu.
Since it was V-Day we knew all the other restaurants would be booked and that they had us trapped. Just walking would mean a long, hungry trip back home to cook for ourselves. The whole thing was unethical and could have been avoided had they simply put a notice on their home page and their open table listing. It's a popular spot and I'm sure they would still have been fully booked.
PS - like most restaurants they use too much butter, cream, salt, etc as a short cut for too many dishes. Yeah, it tastes great, but they could cut it in half w/out sacrificing flavor.
