Stay away if you want a business dinner or want to have a normal conversation. Very loud, and tables are too close.
Some dishes were good, but mine was quite bad. The Mafaldine - ostensibly a Maryland crab pasta dish - had no taste of crab and was an epic disappointment.
Loved everything we tried including the montelpuciano wine
Consistent, great food. Menu changes keep it interesting.
This was my third trip to Osteria Morini, the other 2 times for political fundraisers. It was so good, the second best Italian food I’ve consumed outside of Tuscany and Umbria (for Steelers fans, that’s in Italy, and number 1 is Porcini in downtown Philly). We ordered 3 pasta dishes and shared family style. Simply fantastic. The service was substandard and if the weather is good, eat outside - inside is really noisy. A bit pricey but worth it. Good wine list. Casual attire is mostly OK.
Environment was great, food could be better
Our server Alex was outstanding. She was on top of everything made our Anniversary so special. I would come back again just because of her service. And the food and drinks were spot on!
Went early on a Nats game night (and didn't realize they were playing), but still a pleasant experience. Parking is tough around there, but we got lucky with a spot. The service was outstanding, but also not a lot of diners there. The antipasti dishes were excellent as were the app plates-- after a few starters, we were pretty full. Cocktails very good. Will definitely go again.
I have enjoyed Osteria Moreni on several previous occasions. However, my opinion on this visit is clouded by a parking issues. (Parking in this area is never easy, especial if there is an event at Nationals Park. The distance from street to entrance is considerable if dinners are not fully ambulatory.) I was told that there would be valet parking but, after several visits to the host station (a block from the street), being repeatedly assured that the valet attendant SHOULD be arriving, and waiting 20 minutes; I finally parked in a nearby lot - and was charged $35 at the end of the evening. The host was apologetic -and said he was embarrassed- but offered no recompense, not even a complimentary drink to dull the off-putting start.
The food is quite good but the portions are small for the price and the price mounts quickly with appetizers and drinks. The menu is limited but broad enough for most tastes. Drinks are well prepared. Service is friendly and, generally, professional with frequent attention to water refills and delivery of appropriate flatware. In pleasant weather, the outdoor seating is good even though views of the river are limited and seats only marginally comfortable.
Very cute and good service
Even better than we anticipated. Excellent food from the appetizers to the entrees. The roasted duck was fantastic. Excellent wine as well. The best part however was the service. Our waiter Tim was wonderful, friendly and very knowledgeable.
I dined at Osteria Morini last weekand the place was great! The restaurant is situated in a beautiful setting near the Anacostia River and the wall-to-ceiling windows provide a wonderful view. The ambiance within the restaurant is excellent; it's energetic, but not loud; it's well-lit (particularly in the washrooms); and the servers are friendly.
The food is excellent and well-priced. I really liked the duck, the home-made pasta, and the Uovo al Tartufo. I liked the beer selection and was impressed by the wine selection. Great place!
Short ver.: A restaurant with lovely location, good service, but with fair to good food for it's price point.
The service throughout the dinner was great. Unfortunately, the food didn't match. The antipasti started good (burata and brussel sprouts with poached eggs), followed with fresh pasta, also good (rigatoni and squid ink campanelle). Last dish ordered was the sword fish. Which fell flat of my expectations - it wasn't seasoned.
The food at Osteria is always fantastic, plus the location was so pretty. Most of the staff was really good, our server seemed to be on a bad day unfortunately, but everybody else was awesome. I have been 4-5 timeas and this never happened so I do not think the feedback for this great place should go down.
Great service from Franklin. We will be back!
Everything is great, the food, the service, the view
If I was reviewing completely on the food, I would certainly give it a 5. But service is always a part of my reviews, so unfortunately, this place gets a four. We made reservations for 12:30 on a Saturday. We were quickly seated and a young man offered us a drink menu and poured water. He never said his name, strike one. He came to take our drink order and food order at the same time. Offered NO info about the menu or appetizers, strike two. Drinks came seconds before our meal. We ordered the gramigna and the cappelletti, both were outstanding!! My cappelletti had a fantastic butter sauce. When I told our nameless server that some bread would have been nice to soak up the rest of the butter, he stammered, “they didn’t bring you any bread?” Strike THRRE!
Because of the delicious food, we might return. But maybe make sure we have a better server!
we thought that the menu was very limited, the food uninspiring, and the service was less than acceptable
Great place to go after a National's game. Our cozy table for two had a wonderful view! The food is always terrific. And Maya is a fabulous, attentive, warm wait person. Always a pleasure!
Food was good, nothing special about it. But the service was the worst. We've to seat for an hour for the food to entry to arrive. And guess what? - nobody cares to apologize, which tells you the problem is from top down. There was a nice lady seating next to us by herself, who was paying her check and about to leave. She saw our gesture and told us to get used to it as she'd the same experience. And she said that she had to tip anyways, and as did we. I think she was the best part of our dinner experience. I do dine out a lot and this is my first comment on Opentable because I never had such bad service before that'd convinced me enough to leave a review. I don't want to sound harsh, and would love to give them the benefit of the doubt that that night was an exception. 😉
I hadn't been here for a while. I felt the lunch menu was rather "heavy" and although I'm somewhat adventurous foodwise (and fm), the three guys I was with had a hard time finding something they could relate to. The quality of the food continues to be outstanding, but maybe a little more variety, especially for lunch, would help. Service was great as usual.
The pasta and desserts are absolutely spectacular here! I’ve never had a bad meal or experience. It’s a bit more on the expensive side, but definitely worth it.
Easter brunch was amazing! So much delicious food.
Server was spacing out a little. I would have ordered another drink if he'd been around to ask if I wanted one. I think it was his first day, I'm sure he'll get the hang of it. I've been here several times the food is worth every penny.
the food was amazing. i loved their seafood pasta. the restaurant ambiance was average though.
Gotta love Morini Mondays!!
Food was delicious again and the wait staff went out of their way to surprise with a birthday treat! It was truly appreciated!!
Nice restaurant with a varied menu. We enjoyed our lunch/brunch options and everything was flavorful and tasty. Would return!
Food was mediocre and service was really bad. I would not recommend given the price point.
Really enjoyed dinner here. We split an appetizer and a pasta, and got our own mains. The pasta was to die for - next time I am just getting a bowl to myself. The wine list was great!
I love this place! The yummiest pasta and really great service.
Great ambiance and local food in Italian cuisine choices. Would highly recommend to try for drink and appetizer outside and dinner and wine/beer inside. Cuisine choices and service outstanding. Views relaxing and engaging. On drawback, inside noisy during busy peak hours- hard to keep up a shared conversation.
Osteria Morini is a perfect brunch destination! The location at the Navy Yard offers great views of the Anacostia and makes for great people watching. The views are only part of the experience, though. The food is easily some of the best in the DC metro area. I've been here several times and the menu never fails to impress! You can't go wrong if you get the panini, pasta, or the meatballs (GET THE MEATBALLS!). What's really takes the Osteria to the next level is the bar program. Tasty Bloody Marys, a great wine list, and a Prosecco special that you have to see to believe! Love this place!
Went there on a picture perfect day and absolutely loved the food and the location. Highly recommend.
We had a birthday celebration with a friend. The occasion was wonderful, but it was noisy. Food was wonderful
It is so loud in the dining room and the bar area is somewhat small. Still, very cool vibe and amazing pasta. Would have liked to see a more expansive wine list but our chosen bottle was still delish.
I've been to this restaurant several times and love the food. But it is too noisy, even this time at an earlier time in the evening, which we thought would make it better. It didn't really make much difference.
Osteria Morini has been a favorite since it opened. We stop by on impulse and eat at the bar. We plan ahead for a special evening with friends. We've even hosted a dinner for 20 there.
Food, service, drinks, and wine are always top notch!!
This visit was wonderful as always!!
Best pasta in DC.
Once again, Osteria Morini has delivered a delicious meal! My friend and I got the spinach lasagna and the ricotta ravioli in butter sauce and split it and everything was just scrumptious! Wonderful dinner, great service!
Service was inconsistent. The food, however, was as wonderful as always. We started with two appetizers: polpettini and burrata, both excellent. One of us had bronzino, which he enjoyed, and the other two had pasta dishes that were superb. Desserts always stand out here.
