Osteria Morini pays homage to the casual and rustic cuisine and ambiance of the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. Osteria Morini is a casual Italian restaurant from Chef Michael White. In Italian, “osteria” means a place where the owner “hosts” guests, and at Osteria Morini, Chef White continues this tradition of hospitality, transforming his first Washington, D.C. restaurant into an authentic, old-world osteria with soulful food from the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy.

Osteria Morini DC Ratings and Reviews
We are local (within blocks) of the restaurant and dine here as often as we can. We had very close friends driving in from out of town and they hit the dreaded beltway traffic. The hostess was extremely accommodating and flexible given the circumstances. Our waiter was on point throughout the entire meal. And, the food does not disappoint - duck breast, pork chop and tortelacci were the stars of the table. Always a great experience and we love that we are so close! Thanks!!!!
I would recommend with reservation... Food was OK. I had the Branzino which was very nice but the Insalata Mista was strange and although I love hazelnuts, it was overloaded with nuts and dried cherries. Pastas were just ok. Service was decent. Extremely LOUD!!
First time at this restaurant. Four of had lunch and were all impressed with the 'authenticity' of the Italian cuisine. The "two-fer" and "three-fer" lunch specials are hard to pass up. Well worth a visit if you haven't been and you want an Italian-style meal. Bravo to Osteria Morini!
We stumbled upon Osteria Morini after having a tasting at the District Winery across the way and were delighted! They have really succulent and savory options - such as their cheese plate, mushroom gnocchi special, and sliced filet mignon. Don’t forget to save room for dessert and espresso. Our server was really helpful w/ suggesting drink options so please ask for tips. We sat outdoors on their lovely patio and had an amazing view. We’ll definitely be back soon!
As others have stated, the food is fantastic. The service is what I would expect from a diner (no disrespect to diners! ) If our server had been smacking gum when she took our food order, it would completed the image. No welcome, no information on the menu, she just plopped in down asking, "What do you want? " She killed the ambiance of the meal.
Our starter was served promptly, but it took over 40 minutes to get our entree. When I inquired about the delay, the server gave us the eye roll and said she'd talk to the manager. She never came back except to give us the bill. Yes, the service is marginal, just as others have commented.
Too highly rated for plain food that is way overpriced. $90 for lunch w/o drinks. Food was so-so, not terrible, but not worth $25 for a bowl of pasta. Noise level was very high with only a few tables. One is paying for proximity to the ball park.
Excellent food, friendly service and a casual environment. Had a client diner and we all came away full and happy. Wine selection was excellent, menu provided something for everybody. It's noisy, but not crazy loud. Outdoor seating options as well. I'll be back.
Was nice, but we felt rushed and the food was good, but not great.
Our server was attentive and efficient and took care of our order. We did not feel like we were his top priority and he was a bit short when we asked questions about the drinks and the food.
Our entire party agreed that we would not come back to this location nor recommend it to friends. It could have been a bad night, but the service should have been much better.
Nice looking place, in a nice location. I had reservations a week ahead of time for a date. When I arrived we were seated next to 2 small children in a relatively empty restaurant. Then the wait for drinks.
I ordered a medium rare steak that came pre-sliced and raw (cold and purple). They took it back and re-fired, bringing me a greasy mess. My date’s branzino looked as if it came out of a package, just my impression.
As my drink sat empty another server asked if I wanted another drink but couldn’t be bothered to get it. Just bad all around.
This place has the propensity to be a good spot if it were to be staffed with professionals and not people that are supposed to look like they are Italian. (All Mexicans). Bad service and bad food, another corporate waste of my time and money.
One of our favorites - excellent service from all. Our server was very knowledgeable in all aspects of our dining experience and was extremely helpful in all our choices. Usually we are seated in the front part of the restaurant which is extremely noisy and somewhat uncomfortable but this time we were seated in the back room area which was outstanding from a noise comfort aspect....we will request this area in the future for sure. There was one glitch from our perspective - our appetizers were excellent but we felt some sort of bread, cracker, etc would have been appropriate to consume food which was very good but difficult - it was a combination of truffles, poached egg but otherwise the food was outstanding. ALL IN ALL HGHLy RECOMMEND.
Steps away from the Anacostia Riverfront, Osteria serves a mouthwatering fare. The downside - indifferent service. The servers don't look like they want to be there, and their borderline surliness made us rush through our meal. The food is fantastic and do try to grab a table outside or near the window.
Consistently some of the best Italian cuisine in D.C.
We took a good friend for her birthday and on our way to the Nationals game last Friday. The food was excellent, as always and the service was perfect.
This is a great restaurant that always delivers great quality. They also have a great wine list including some fabulous reds by the glass.
We attend many Nats games and make this a part of the ritual - although we have also made the special trip to meet friends here because of the great setting and quality.
We found this restaurant as we walked around the NEW Navy Yard. It is in a cute little setting with water view just beyond the walkway. We sat outside (in October!) and had a very nice meal. Their steak dish was delicious and pasta was very tasty. They have a good selection of cocktails, beer and wine.
Loved the food. Waiter was excellent. Have eaten there several times and find something good each visit. This time it was the Branzino. However, this was the first time being there when a game was on and a crowd was watching in the bar area. The first time someone screamed I thought someone was being hurt. The noise became commonplace and made table conversation difficult. I usually don't go to sports bars, but I did that night and did not like it.
Sat us outside table was not stable and dishes slide off table. Took waitress 15 minutes to acknowledge us and then another ten to take our drink order. Had to ask for bread. Took additional 10 minutes to take good order. Asked if we could add some protein to the pasta dish for an uncharged and the server responded no. Dinner arrived on appetizer sized plates yet the cost of each dish was close to $30 each with no salad or sides.
Server seemed annoyed at everything we asked for. Asked her to split the check and that was a problem.
Will not return
Great food! Great ambiance, Great service everyone was on time not pushy just a very cool place to go. Oh great wine selection easy convenient to walk to from the nationals stadium kitchen area is awesome to see we will be back. Italian favorites must have the cheesecake. Dessert portions are small so make sure you order your own.
Fantastic birthday meal! The truffle ricotta ravioli was one of the best dishes I've ever had. Great location in Navy Yard located right in the heart of all the bars and restaurant. Beautiful restaurant right on the water, and plenty of places to go for a drink before or after your reservation- or the bar at the restaurant is really nice.
I have been meeting to try it for a while now. My family has been once and they had a good experience. We dined on a Saturday night and the place was full. Had a drink at the bar while waiting for our table. We decided on a table outside as the weather was beautiful. I usually enjoy an energetic bar scene but the eating area was just too noisy for a regular conversation. We finally sat outside. It was dark to a point where we needed our lights from cell phone to be able to read the menu. Even the waiter couldn't read the wine menu for recommendation. This is unacceptable. Situation still the same after my husband complained last time about how dark the area is. Appetizers, we chose 3, were delicious. My husband's rabbit pasta was yummy as well. I asked for the special of the day but they were out of it by 9:(. I had the ink pasta and I was disappointed, not a memorable dish. Combining outdoor dim experience and how expensive our meal was, I don't think we will go back again. I don't mind paying for a gourmet meal but this experience was not it! I't unfortunate as the place has a lot of potential. I guess I am one of the few who feels this way as the place was pretty full!
