Osteria Morini pays homage to the casual and rustic cuisine and ambiance of the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. Osteria Morini is a casual Italian restaurant from Chef Michael White. In Italian, “osteria” means a place where the owner “hosts” guests, and at Osteria Morini, Chef White continues this tradition of hospitality, transforming his first Washington, D.C. restaurant into an authentic, old-world osteria with soulful food from the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy.

Great food-- extremely filling. We did the 3 course brunch and had to get the last 1.5 courses to go. A little warm in the sun but otherwise great looking place with a cute vibe. Nice open kitchen so you can watch the chefs work. Burrata, cappelletti, and walnut dessert were all delicious, if a bit rich. Kind of avant-garde plating-- burrata looked like a bowl of cottage cheese with pieces of lettuce and nuts sprinkled on top.

Really good brunch. If you don’t speak Italian menu, ask your waiter for recommendations. They have some truly amazing dishes (we loved the short rib, pancetta, and poached egg appetizer), but I’ve also had a mediocre experience here when I’ve order poorly. The online menu also isn’t as good/interesting as what they have in person.

Pasta is a must have here and the appetizers are great as well, but for the value/service I would recommend the lunch specials.

All good but too noisy to have a conversation without asking, " what did you day?" And the tables are way too close together, so between the noise level and tables not a good place for any type of personal or business conversation.

Osteria Morini has quickly become one of my favorite places in the city. The food is always wonderful (have been multiple times for brunch and dinner). Love the ambiance of being right on the water and taking some time away from city center. Highly recommend for date nights.

We went for New Years Eve dinner and I really appreciated that it wasn’t a Prix Fixe menu. We did a charcuterie plate as an appetizer - the pork belly super rich and parmigian gelato was to die for, creamy goodness. I had the paparadelle with duck ragú and mushrooms - you can really taste the fresh pasta and ingredients. Service was very helpful with recommendations.

I love this place. We made a meal out of charcuterie, best in DC.
Best when you can sit outside as it's in the DC SE Waterfront.

We had a table for 8 people. The service was excellent. It was our first time at the restaurant. The waiter was very good at explaining the menu and offering recommendations. Everything we had was fabulous. We enjoyed watching some of our food being cooked over a wood fire. The Pork chop came out with a smoky flavor and very moist. The Branzino was also cooked over the wood fire and was delicious. Our pasta dishes were also very good. We will go back.

We had the Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. It is $65 per person and it was not worth the cost. All the fish was over cooked while the sides were under. I also thought the combinations were strange. We definitely will not come back.

I have been to Osteria Morini at least half a dozen times now. We picked it for Christmas Eve because I have loved it in the past. A few times before i’d had a few small service issues (given the wrong drink, told I was wrong that it was the wrong drink even when I wasn’t, small waits) but Christmas Eve was an awful experience.

I’m trying to convince myself the waiter telling me “what I need to watch out for” in terms of eating there while pregnant was not mansplaining. Three cheers for knowing which cheeses were pasteurized but the rest of his advice was just dead wrong and unnecessary.

We truly enjoyed our octopus appetizer. The barata was fine. Not a favorite. We wouldn’t order it again.

Our main courses took forever. The manager apologized but offered no compensation. Not even more bread. It was nearly half an hour after finishing our appetizers before the mains arrived. Our waiter disappeared. It really ruined the night.

My husband thoroughly loved his duck when it actually arrived. My short rib was very good, but switching the noodles in the gramingna to spinach noodles was a very poor choice. Far better dish with unflavored noodles. My mother said it tasted like dirt.

The desserts also took forever, and were very poorly described. My mother hates lava cake and is Mormon. She ordered the chocolate orange cake. Turns out it was a lava cake filled with grand marnier. It’s frustrating that the menu doesn’t consistently specify if alcohol is used. She picked it because it was one of the desserts that didn’t say it contained alcohol.

It was bad dish after long wait after another with a few stellar dishes that didn’t make up for it.

I have loved this restaurant in the past but I honestly don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon.

Osteria Morini is our "go to" place for Christmas Eve. Their Feast of Seven Fishes is always inventive and delicious. It's also a great place before/after/between Nationals games. Highly recommended.

Fabulous walk in the Navy Yard to kick off a holiday weekend and had dinner at one of our faves for the Chef’s Christmas Feast of the Seven Fishes. Lots of amazing seafood....scallop crudo, incredibly tender octopus, squid ink pasta and lobster agnolotti, grilled swordfish with fennel and blood orange and incredible roasted head on shrimp with chickpeas, olives and salsa verde. Is that six courses? No, chef started us with an amuse bouche of salt cod fritter. Desserts were an incredible ginger molasses mousse with cranberry compote and a salted chocolate tart with candied chestnuts. You should head there for this menu! Happy Holidays.

I really enjoyed everything from start to finish. We had prosciutto meatballs which were really delicious as a starter. We also shared tow bottles of wine - the restaurant made a great recommendation. And we all ordered the same thing - duck ragu tagliatelle. So, a couple of things.

1. The pasta was amazing. And it's all house made daily which is a huge plus for me and definitely a reason for me to keep going back.
2. I cannot eat dairy (tricky at Italian places) and I have a strong dislike for mushrooms and eggplant. Their menu seemed to have mushrooms and cheese in everything. But they were so accommodating and modified my dish so I could enjoy it fungus and cheese free.

The ambiance was very good, it wasn't too loud inside, and it felt cozy.

My only negative is while I know they hire wait staff to clear your empty dishes from the table, they were like vultures hovering in between tables snatching barely empty dishes and plates. We were trying to slowly finish appetizers and they kept asking to take away the plates and I really really dislike this about the restaurant.

Besides that, I'd totally recommend it. Delicious food and wine, great atmosphere. And they have a brunch option (I didn't try it though).

I’ve been to Osteria Morini a couple times MJ’s and it’s been fantastic every time. The food was great and came out as expected. Our server was phenomenal; she was very pleasant and accommodating, had some great advice for us, and made sure to check on us at a good interval. This is a great place for a date, down by the water.

I was looking for a great spot to take my mother for her birthday and decided on Osteria Morini DC. Also, my mother is obsessed with Pumpkin Ravioli and luckily it was on the menu. We were greeted by a very beautiful hostess and seated immediately. Adam was our server. He was extremely helpful with the menu and making my mother’s dining experience enjoyable. I chose the Pappardelle and Stracotto Di Manzo. My mother chose the Spallina and the Bruxelles. Everything was delicious. Thank you for an amazing dining experience, we will return soon.

My friend and I love to check out DC restaurants when we have the time. We drove from College Park and it was completely worth it! The wine was excellent, and we had a hard time choosing between entrees. We got appetizers as well as dessert and everything was amazing. Definitely recommend, we will be returning!

Good food. Cool restaurant. One hitch - we arrived for our 5:30 pre-theater reservation to a nearly empty restaurant and we offered what could only objectively be considered one of the worst tables in the house. It was a very small table directly in front of the door. When we asked for another table, the hostess seemed really put out. The exchange felt insulting. We won't be rushing back.
