Italian
Since 1998, la Spiga has been renowned for its authentic, northern Italian cuisine -- a gastronomic tribute to Italy's Emilia-Romagna region. La Spiga's chef and co-founder, Sabrina Tinsley, prepares all items from scratch, using whole foods and house-made stocks. You will never find artificial or chemical food enhancers in our kitchen…ever. What you will find is the highest quality olive oil, delectable cheeses and cured meats, seasonal vegetables, flavorful sauces, handmade pastas and more. We believe in local, organic, and sustainable, and our meats are hormone and antibiotic free. We also offer several vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free items to those with dietary restrictions.

You'll love our atmosphere as much as the food! We are located in the artfully renovated Piston & Ring building; its rustic-elegant design is warm enough for family, yet cool enough for a date. We hope you'll join us soon for a tantalizing taste of Italy in our warm, inviting space.

We all had a wonderful time. Our table server was great. There was one thing we all were not too happy about. The busboy kept wanting to take away the plates that we were still working on without asking us. He was so quick to take away the plates that we wanted to keep whereas when we wanted him to take away the empty glasses away, he wouldn’t. Perhaps the restaurant needs to give him more training in this area. Thanks.

Mother’s Day Brunch menu was ehhh. Service was inconsistent, with kids meals brought out first, then mine 5 min later, then my wife’s 5 min after that. Restaurant 101- you bring all the meals out at the same time. Desserts were meh- how can an Italian restaurant not have tiramisu, or a plethora of yummy desserts? Won’t be visiting again.

Osteria La Spiga is not a good Italian restaurant, is great restaurant period. Even in Italy (and I am Italian, i would know), this would be a great find. Chef Sabrina (Iron Chef contender against Bobby Flay) is a world class culinary master, bringing handmade regional Northern Italian masterpiece cuisine chez d'oeuvres to Seattle. Pietro, Romagnolo doc, is the best host in the whole wide world. It's hard not to be delighted after a visit at La Spiga. You will come back.

For the first time I was left with an unfavorable impression. We had a party of 7, the arrival of food was spotty, one of the entrees arrived 20 minutes after the rest of the party was finished and the dishes cleared. The food quality was pretty good if not a bit overpriced for the presentation and flavor. It is a visually pleasing environment and the ambiance is quite nice. Our waiter was personable.

It was a really nice place and had a very Seattle vibe. The front of the restaurant was open air and the back was a little more secluded and covered. Food was excellent, portions were not TINY nor were they very big- just a decent amount to fill you up just enough. There was music in the background but it was not overwhelming and allowed for good conversation. Great wine menu and bar options.

We were seated in the warmest section of the restaurant. I used my menu to keep myself cool and comfortable... but it was miserable. I asked if there was anyway to move to a cooler section and that was ignored. The server said it’s just the wine making me hot! So we had our meal and I had to go because I was physically ill from the stagnant warmth in the dining area.

Osteria La Spiga
Responded on May 7, 2019

We are so sorry you left feeling ill! Your server, who immigrated from Italy, apologized for the confusion with her strong accent. When she brought you ice upon your request she thought it was for your wine. This miscommunication should have been handled by our manager and we will do better next time. Our building is a green, historic building with no air conditioning and can become warm in the summer months. I hope you're feeling better now and thank you for the feedback.

Our waitress was so kind and lovely. We had two small children with us and the waitstaff was accommodating and patient as they needed a few breaks from the table to make it through the 2 hour meal.
The food was perfect. Thanks again

I've been a big fan of La Spiga in the past as one of the better Italian restaurants in Seattle. My family's visit this weekend was a big disappointment. First, I got sick after the meal and spent the next day in bed, so something was very wrong there. Second, the service was very uneven. Our waiter was great, but we kept getting rushed to finish; our main course came literally 5 minutes after appetizers; one server kept trying to come clear our plates while we were still clearly eating...and then when our mains were done, it took ~15-20 minutes for someone to come around. The food has gone significantly downhill. It's clear they've taken the strategy to maintain pricing but reduce quality. A tagliatelle dish with braised rabbit was a plate of very nice noodles...topped with what resembled and tasted like Progresso chicken noodle soup. Other dishes were similarly uninspired. I've had things at the Olive Garden that looked and tasted better.

We are so sorry that La Spiga disappointed in big way, especially with a big fan! We haven't had any reports of food illness but will keep an ear out. Our quality remains the same as it has for 20 year (high) but we do realizes person tastes can change and that as hard as we try, we do have our off nights. It's such a shame it happened with a treasured regular. We hope you're feeling better none the less and maybe give us one more try in the future!

We waited over an hour for dinner and when it arrived the braised pork shoulder was dry, chewy and tough. My friend had scallops and they they were fine. Service was okay, waiter is not fluent in English which should be charming but it isn’t when very little effort was made to communicate clearly. We were disappointed with the meal, we were expecting to have an amazing experience. We spent $100 and it was definitely not worth it.

First I should say that the food was incredible and everything we wanted it to be. The server was polite but a little less attentive than we hoped for. It was boyfriend’s birthday, which I had made a note of on the reservation, and which I also mentioned to our server. My boyfriend didn’t receive a “happy birthday” not to mention any other special treatment. We were rather disappointed but didn’t let it ruin our whole experience. Again, would totally recommend because of the delicious food quality, but I would hope that others have a better service experience.

20 years ago we came to La Spiga and had an absolute amazing experience. The food and atmosphere was exquisite. So much so that for our son's 21st Birthday we wanted to do something extra special. Unfortunately, that did not turn out to be the case. We made reservations in advance, under special instructions even requested "if possible to sing happy birthday for one guest turning 21". Once there, it did not seem a table had been prepared, the hostess looked for where to place us, sat us in a side booth and asked if one person wanted to have a chair to sit on the end. We opted to all sit inside the booth. As for the service, we continually waited to be greeted, drinks, we learned we should have just made a nice meal at home and it would have been so much better.

We are sad to have dissapointed such a long time customer. For birthdays that our guests announce we always make sure to put a candle in the dessert you order, a small but sincere way of celebrating with our guests that come in. It seems we bungled the entire evening and for that we are sorry. We hope we didn't lose you as a guest forever and hope you return soon with notice so we can take special care of you.

We took advantage of the Seattle Restaurant Week menu. My daughter enjoyed her meal of ravioli with butter. She had been here previously with her Italian class from UW. My husband and I had the Casseruola which sounded fabulous (we are vegan) but was mushy except for the topping. I was looking forward to chunks of winter squash and parsnips that I could savor but it was all mushy. My son had the pork shank which was OK. Salad was great and the tiramisu and sorbetto excellent.

We have searched for an Italian restaurant in Seattle for five years that would provide the handmade pastas and sauces that we have learned to enjoy while visiting Italy, specific to the Piedmont, Lombardi and Veneto regions. La Spiga is it! We shared the Tagliatelle al Ragu, Cavolfiori Fritti, Erbe e Funghi along with a bottle of Barbara from the Asti. The food was spectacular as the pasta was a perfect al dente, the ragu was refined, light with a nice lingering tomato taste. The cauliflower had a bite and was not overdone-just right. The erbe e funghi was tasty and earthy and accentuated the flavors of the spinach and mushrooms. Service was attentive but not intruding and the staff was impeccably dressed in their crisp, clean attire. The one slight were the small chips in the plate and bowl of the Tartufo Bianco which we would order again but without the chipped place serving. Go to Osteria La Spiga as you will enjoy.

We came for Restaurant week. The Prosciutto starter was great and the ravioli was perfectly cooked with a great butter sage sauce and a nice hot plate. Enough attention to detail to the food to keep it 4 stars. It's a big space. We had a nice table by the back window. The service was attentive though not particularly personal and we felt slightly rushed.

It is always a pleasure to dine at La Spiga. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming particularly if one bypasses the busy bar and booth area and sits in the high ceilinged glass-walled back dining room. Service is standardly friendly, informal but attentive and professional. The wine list offers a wide variety of primarily Italian wines across a good range of price points, so matching to one's meal is a pleasant adventure. The seasonal dinner menu provides good variety while not being overly long and is supplemented by daily specials and a tasting menu option. Don't expect the run of the mill Italian restaurant food options, as Chef Sabrina Tinsley draws her culinary inspirations from the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. Two standouts at our most recent meal were a poached halibut and a chestnut tagliolini with braised wild boar ragu. The first paired well with a Fiano, a white wine from Campania, while the second was nicely complimented by a Lange Nebbiolo. The meal was nicely finished with a chef's trio of desserts, each a small but light and flavorful confection. It is always a pleasure to dine at La Spiga.

My favorite Italian restaurant in Seattle!
The wine & food is always great, and the beef tenderloin and the wild boar ragu were amazing!
This time we split a salad, primi, and secondi courses, and we loved trying the different flavors. The service was excellent and the ambience delightful.

But we had a quiet and partially hidden corner and so could talk' and the main entres and wine were good; the atmosphere cheerful and the service willing.
