We had a wonderful time at Osteria La Madia. The pizza was really good, great crust and flavor. The pasta with corn was a big hit with the group.

Good food, the service was average. Our waitress probably came to our table 3 times max, appetizers came out reasonable quickly but the food took an extremely long time after - likely because there was a group behind us

Everything was perfect except the kids choices for food. Was charged 30 dollars for an entree for my son - who is 6. Most Italian Rest have choices for kids - the staff seemed to not want kids. If someone would have told me that when I walked in with my son - I would not have been offended - I would have just left. If you don't want to serve children - then just say so!
Good food - lousy experience for my son...

Loved Osteria La Madia!. This was our first time dining here and will definitely return. They had a number of nice appetizer, entrees and pizza selections. The ambiance is very nice (we sat towards the back) and the service was great. The pizza was amazing!

We enjoyed our meal here. We were seated right at our appointed time. Our server was very friendly. The wine list had lots of Italian wines to choose from. We ordered a la carte. They also had a prix fixe menu but it was served family style and looked like it would be too much food. But if you like big meals, that would be the way to go. I had the grilled salmon, and it was overdone. My husband had a ravioli dish that he liked. They serve great bread and roasted garlic cloves in olive oil/basalmic vinegar and it was delicious!!

One problem was when we checked in we gave our name (having reserved through open table) and the next day we got an email from open table saying we were "no shows". So if you book through open table make sure that they recognize that when checking in.

This was my 5th time to visit La Madia, I try to fit it in whenever I am in Chicago. We took our son and his fiancee to dinner the night before her wedding shower. Great food!

My wife and I came here for a date night last weekend, and everything was absolutely perfect. Service was excellent. We were running 15-20 minutes late for our reservation because of a cranky baby at home, but the staff made us feel welcome without any hint of annoyance or frustration. The food was wonderful. The highlights were the heirloom tomato pizza with fresh ricotta as well as the blueberry tart. I can still taste the tart right now several days later! I also tried a glass of their recommended chianti, and it was terrific and reasonably priced.

One of our best dinner experiences in Chicago over the past five years!! Highly recommend!

I have been coming to La Madia for the last few years and it is one of my favorites in the city. Unfortunately things just seemed a little off overall on Friday night and I am not sure why. The hostess was not friendly or polite like usual, we ended up sitting at a table in the bar because the table we were offered was right by the hostess stand and entrance. The food was great as usual, but the service and ambience was not as good as it usually is based on my past experiences. I had brought my friend who just moved to River North from Washington DC. She was excited to try it, but she was equally disappointed in the overall experience aside from the food.

The four of us decided to share four items from the menu, and our server, Jeff, was spot-on with his recommendations. We ordered two 12-inch pizzas (wild mushroom/smoked mozzarella and chicken sausage/rapini), a pasta selection (orecchiette with eggplant, olives and chicken sausage) and an arugula salad with sliced apples, walnuts and shaved parmesan. The food was excellent. The service was just right, attentive but not intrusive. The only negative – the front windows were open so the temperature was a little warm as the A/C was competing with the 90+ temperature outside. There was an issue with our bill that my husband mentioned a couple of days after our dinner there. When I called the restaurant, Jeff answered and graciously apologized for any errors on the check. He said the manager would be emailing me a copy of the itemized bill which I received about an hour later. It turned out that there was some confusion on the wine we ordered; they offer a 4-ounce and a 7-ounce pour and I received the larger pour which ended up being more expensive than I thought. The manager, Brooke Walton, was great. The matter was resolved in a professional manner with no defensiveness whatsoever. She offered to comp my wine – four days after dining at the restaurant. Very refreshing. I will return again to Osteria de Madia. The staff and the food are number one.

We usually hit this restaurant when we go to Chicago. They have great pasta dishes and I love the triple pepperoni with truffle oil. Delicious! In warmer weather they open the windows in the front and it's nice to sit enjoying the fresh air. We've never been disappointed in anything we ordered here and it's reasonably priced.

We came here for a friend's birthday. They wouldn't seat us until our entire party of 7 was present. When the 7th person had to cancel last minute and we informed them it was just going to be 6 of us - they seemed visibly annoyed and put out. After apologizing to them for the inconvenience they seemed to experience, they reset the table for 6, instead of 7, and sat us. Our server took a while to acknowledge us and take our drink orders. After that initial snafu service was timely. Pastas are made fresh so they took a while to come out -- but once they did, they were easily the highlight of the meal. I would go back for the food, but that's it.

Everything we had was excellent including our appetizers which included prosciutto and salami and the Lamb and Eggplant meatballs over Polenta. ( Ask for the warm fresh baked pizza bread)

The triple pepperoni pizza was outstanding. Reminded me of pizza I had in Florence, Italy in the past. Home made dough and sauce, good cheese, brick oven baked and last but not least the truffle oil.

I will be back

We were in town for one night, and grabbed dinner here (as our hotel was just around the corner). We only split an appetizer (artichoke) and pizza. The artichoke was a bit over priced, and while it was good, I've definitely had much better. The pizza was very very good! I would recommend it to someone who is looking for very good pizza (not Chicago style). Also, the wine list was very good, as well.

Dinner plans switched to drinks, appetizers and more at a table by the open air window. Kevin our server made several great recommendations and each dish was very, very good. Fun place to go without a lot of fanfare but great flavors, refreshments and place for people watching.

Good was very good really loved the fondue and the scallops. Heard the pizza was excellent as well. Had a hard time regulating the air conditioning as it was one of the first warm days and the windows were open for a while. It never fully cooled down. Lots of people fanning themselves.

Food was fresh, flavorful authentic Italian. The Bolognese Ragu was spot on, terrific choices for Italian wines & did not break the bank. Bravo!!!!

Pizza and burrata were awesome. Wine was good too. The places seemed a little loud but luckily we were in a partially closed off area. Wine menu was large but print was really small so it was hard to read ( Normally I would say it was my eyes, but other people said so too).

Enjoyed the food, service a bit slow, never got my second drink, but just as well. Pasta was cooked perfectly, though the tomato was a little overpowering (Orchiette). They were wonderfully accommodating to my friend who was disappointed with her food. They turned around an alternate selection very quickly, and she went away very happy. Noise level a little higher than I had hoped for. Hard to hold a conversation. But the buzz was nice for a Saturday evening. Will probably try again on a weekday night.

We came across Osteria La Madia after schlepping around the area and trying to get a table at other restaurants in the area (that had a waiting time of at least 45 minutes). We found this restaurant on OpenTable, and we are SO HAPPY we did!

The ambiance was amazing, and we were seated in a little room that was just off the main dining area. Our server, Meagan, was amazingly helpful, especially since we all were vegetarian. She helped us with the best options that she thought we would love, and she was right!

We will DEFINITELY be coming here again in the future. The appetizers, the main courses, and the dessert were amazing! There was a fantastic wine list as well!

So happy we went there. Amazing food. Amazing place to eat! AMAZING SERVICE!

What can I say - we love this place. Either for when just my husband and I dine alone; or inviting friends or family. This last visit we brought a 9 and 4 year old and they were each given their own little individual pizza dough so they could knead it and get it ready to be fired up in the oven. They just loved that! We are always treated like royalty no matter who takes care of us. Their new gnocchi dish is superb and their thin crust pizza choices are fantastic.
