Osteria La Buca Ratings and Reviews
All I can say is wow. We showed up early for a 9pm reservation and were still seated very quickly. We were seated upstairs in the adorable room with the fire place. Guillermo was our server and he was great! Very attentive and helpful with making the right choices off the menu. We had the Brussel sprouts appetizer and it was unreal. My friend had the spaghetti cacio pepe and she loved It. I had the pappardelle bolognese and it was unreal with the homemade pasta. I can not wait to go back and try all the other yummy items on the menu!
I had been meaning to go to this restaurant for years because it's in my neighborhood...walking distance to my house. FINALLY some friends from the westside were visiting and suggested we go and I'm SO happy we did -- Now it's my new favorite restaurant! The brussel sprouts and Caccio Pepe pasta are worth the trip on their own! Tried a bite of my friends meals, chicken parmigiana and Pasta Carbonara and now know what I'll order the next time I go. The Farmers salad is also large and delicious. The one thing I had that I wasn't crazy about, in fact, couldn't finish, was the panzanella salad. A strange choice of names since panzanella is generally tomatoes and bread, this salad had neither, but WAS doused in way too much sickeningly sweet dressing for my taste. BUT, that is a minor setback in comparison to all the great dishes I've sampled there. Excellent food, great prices, great service. Love it!
Had a perfect business dinner at Osteria La Buca. Was in the neighborhood of the AirBnB where I was staying and was recommended by the Host. It didn't disappoint. Nice atmosphere, quiet enough for conversation and also good vibe with other diners. Great and interesting grilled brussels sprouts appetizer, white sea bass entree and broccolini side. Nice pairing with wine. Would return!
This was my first time having lunch here. The dining room has a very high ceiling, concrete walls, and floor to ceiling glass windows in the front, making the room very noisy when filled with people, as it was at 1pm. It was louder than I had expected and made it not the ideal choice for a business lunch. The menu was small but maybe that's because it was lunch. We had the crispy brussel sprouts which were amazing, many places make them but these came topped with a poached egg and the yolk was the perfect compliment to the crispy parmesan crusted brussel sprouts. I would go back again for this dish alone. The chopped salad sounded good but wasn't as impressive as the menu description. I shared the bolognese pasta with my lunch companion. It was tasty but the portion was not really large enough to share. Our server was average at best. We asked if we should order two pastas and he said no, but we definitely should have given the portion size. Several times he came to the table right next to us (the tables were very close together) but didn't bother to check in with us. Based on the quality of the food I would definitely go back again for lunch, but not sure it was quite good enough to go back for dinner with my wife. The dining room is also very small and noisy, it was hard to hear my guest at lunch, I can only imagine that it is louder during dinner service.
Had somewhat of a mixed experience here.
We had a reservation for 8pm through open table. We got super lucky with parking so we arrived at 7:40. We knew were early so were willing to wait. The first host we spoke to asked us to wait outside, we asked if we could wait at the bar, but they told us then we would have to eat the bar. We didn't really want wait to outside in the cold. As we were figuring out what to do, the other hostess came and seated us right away, since there were 3 empty tables. So that was great!
We didn't get any bread served to us while the 2 parties that were seated next to us and arrived after us, did. We notified our waitress who said we should have gotten some, and then didn't bring us any bread either. Super weird. She did not check on us for the rest of the night until I made eye contact with her.
Still no bread, but our food came out. I got the short rib ravioli which was exceptional! I loved the sauce it came with. My friend got one of the pizzas, which was also delicious food came out very fast.
I loved the ambiance and the food, would've been 5 stars if we had better service.
The food was absolutely amazing. Service was impeccable and the upstairs seating was cozy and romantic. We will definitely be back. We live about 30 miles away but worth the drive in LA traffic.
The valet parking is located in a terrible spot. You block a busy traffic lane when you stop to valet. This was stressful and very surprising. That was the only downfall of our night. It really needs more valet workers
It was my first time visiting and it was out of this world! They took very good care of us and the dinner recommendations from our waiter were spot on. The meal was an authentic Italian, delicious, filling and overall fantastic meal in a wonderful setting. The ambiance, vibe and decor were right up my alley. I will absolutely be back! Thank you!
This has been one of my favorite restaurants in LA for years. Unfortunately, in the last year or so, the food and especially the service have taken an absolute nosedive. My go-to dishes were the steak tartare and the bucatini. Both are now just shells of what they used to be. But the biggest problem with this place now is the HORRIBLE service and the ridiculous attitude that some of the employees have. Our waitress the other night had the attitude of an entitled high school student who couldn’t be bothered with trivial things like knowing anything about the menu or lifting a finger to accommodate our requests. The food was a disappointment again, but she was the nail in the coffin. Absolute disaster. Sadly, I will never eat at Osteria La Buca again...unless and until Kaulin Gracie buys it back and saves this sinking ship.
We've made it a tradition to come here before any movie outing. More and more people have tagged along and now we have a good 14 people group coming to dinner. Everyone loves this place, its delicious, beautiful, the staff is polite and the food is outstanding. When the bill comes you'll be shocked as to how affordable it is. Osteria La Buca never disappoints.
This is by far my fave Italian restaurant to go to. I bring all out of town guests here and they fall in love. The Cacio Pepe spaghetti is to DIE for. I've been all over the world and it is one of the better versions I have had. I hope it never leaves the menu.
Osteria la Bucca was incredible. I can't wait to go back (and I was just there this past Saturday), already trying to plan my next meal there! We had the brussel sprouts and meatballs to start, split between 3 people. I would rate both of those starter dishes 10/10. Had their bolognese with gluten free penne pasta for my main course - which I HIGHLY recommend to anyone who is gluten free. The two other people I dined with had the bolognese (with regular pappardelle pasta) and the classic pizza with sausage added - they both thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well! Not a bite was left on any of our plates. For dessert we got both the tiramisu and the chocolate mousse. The chocolate mousse is custard based, and is one of the best desserts I have ever had (not an exaggeration). Its almost like your eating a decadent brownie batter.
The drinks and food were amazing! My husband had the bolognese (delicious) and I had the carbonara (so so so so so good!) The only complaint was that we wanted to space our dinner out, and take our time which we mentioned to our waiter, (who was very sweet and attentive.) But he suggested we order as the dishes take 15 minutes or so, and the Friday night dinner rush was just beginning. So we felt pressured to order, and of course they came faster than that, so it did feel rushed and I wish we would have pushed him to hold on making the dishes. But I would absolutely go back, and order an appetizer, a bottle of wine and obviously more pasta.
Excellent food. Excellent value. We enjoyed every dish we ordered - house-made ricotta with caramelized agave and rosemary (incredible), steak tartare, bolognese, carbonara, broccolini, cauliflower. Enjoyed the Latin-infused spin on the cocktails. It had been years since I had been here, and I'm looking forward to frequenting it from now on to get my homemade pasta fix. Hard to find a reasonably priced Italian restaurant in L.A. doing pastas of this caliber and happy this restaurant is still doing well.
Overall great experience and good food! I have been wanting to come to Osteria La Buca for some time now and the wait was well worth it. Casual dining spot good for a date night or dinner with friends. What I loved about the menu was the variety of entrees and pastas. Our server was well informed and knew the menu well to be able to provide appropriate recommendations. We are bound for a return in the near future.
