Osteria Fasulo Ratings and Reviews
We had exceptional service from a young, dark-haired woman whose parents own a bakery in town. But then, we have always had exceptional service. The food was wonderful. We love eating in the courtyard in the summer, but the dining room is quite nice in the winter.
This was our third visit to OF. The first two times were wonderful, so not sure what happened this time. After being seated, we waited almost 15 minutes before being handed menus. Our wine service was poor and intermittent. The food was disappointing, with salty gnocchi, bland pasta arrabiata, and goopy over-sauced pesto linguine. For the price we paid, it was pretty bad. One bright spot: a delicious creme brûlée. I don't think we'll be going back there. Sad.
Great little neighborhood gem. Although I've referred my Airbnb guests to the restaurant, I had never been. We had a wonderful waitress, relatively new to the job and she was delightful. We were having a little difficulty choosing a wine, and she allowed us to try tastes until we settled on the right one--with a little help from the wine steward. Every course was excellent. The white polenta was a special treat. Yum! Looking forward to a return visit soon.
Osteria continues to bring forth a creative and seasonal menu with great service. Each seasonal highlighted menu captures the essence of the area and the best the Central Valley has to offer. When the weather gets cool or rainy, you move inside to a nicely redecorated and comfortable. It makes you feel like you are actually dining in someones home!
Went there to celebrate a co-workers birthday. The food was amazing as always. The server recommended the gnocchi. They were pillowy bites of goodness.
I rated the service as a 3 only because the poor server was alone. I guess they were busier than planned. He did his best and he was very pleasant. But, he could not keep up.
The best Italian food. Portions aren't very big, but it's definitely rich, fresh and tasty! My husband and i have been always happy with their food. Excellent service! Always prepared and very friendly. Outdoor is extremely nice if the weather allows. Love the their seasonal menu. They change their menu every season, so it never gets boring and we get to try different kind of food each season. Have been eating there for many years and definitely recommend it.
When in Davis dine alfresco at Osteria Fasulo for an amazing Italian experience. Marco, our server, delivered top notch service. The evening started with silky white bean pate amusebouche. Their wine list provides variety for every budget. Appetizers, beet salad and polenta, were bursting with flavors. The main courses satiated our families varied culinary needed - vegetarian lasagna, sweet n spice scallops, and rabbit gnocchi. End he night with an airy and lightly sweet Torta al Limone and a splash of complimentary grappa or lemon cello.
Treated my friend and her husband to a nice dinner for her 65th birthday. Outstanding meal and atmosphere for our opportunity to converse and catch up with each other. Waiter was very good and friendly and did right by us (we were the first to arrive for dinner) but he seemed stretched pretty far with the number of tables he had as evening went on - no problem for us as we were not in a hurry and enjoyed the leisurely pace, but they maybe need an extra waiter for dinner period. Again, food was outstanding and we had excellent service. Weather cooperated and we were very comfortable outside and enjoyed the twinkle lights as they materialized as it became darker. We were seated under grape arbor and by Village Homes vegetable garden.
The lunch menu was large, with a lot of very good choices. It took us a while to decide which of the excellent meals we would have. My heirloom tomatoes was the best I've had all season, and the chocolate desert was decadent. My two friends were equally happy with their choices. The red wine the waitress chose was a perfect match.
Met my sister and her husband here for lunch. It's sort of half way between our towns. The place is a little out of the way, but we found the menu interesting and the food quite good. We were there for a late Friday lunch. The place was extremely quiet. We were the only ones sitting on their pleasant patio.
While I have been here several times, I always like to come back when someone new is in town to show off the potential for fine dining in Davis. What was even better yet about this event, our serve opened many many many different bottles of wine to taste and show of our regional wines prior to us deciding on 2 notables that paired really well with our meal choices. This level of service and interest in us is unmatched in the entire region!
