Great food, great service and nice ambiance! Looking forward to returning soon.
Birthday, service was excellent food was awesome!!!
Prices make it more of a “special occasion” place… it’s pricey! That said, the service was super friendly and exceptional!! The food exquisite!!!! Definitely recommend!!!
As always a wonderful but cool evening outdoors. Service as usual was super. The food excellent again, the only thing I missed was oysters, We started with sipping Prosecco and enjoyed a bottle of Zinfandel with dinner. Our guest from the Boston area was impressed with eating under the trees the last week of November.
Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Best restaurant in Davis for the creativity of the dishes, the variety and the presentation. The focaccia bread and the jam were outstanding among many superlatives. Our server was extraordinary.
A lovely Thanksgiving meal in a warm and friendly place! Thank you!
we had the nicest Thanksgiving out on the patio with the lights and the canopies and the heaters and it was just gloriously beautiful, the food was fantastic and we enjoyed it so much with our friends. And we got to have our dogs there! Could not have been better. The food is exquisite at this restaurant and we don’t come often enough. And I have been craving
eggplant Parmesan for years unrequited until Thanksgiving! Thank you so much!
We had so much fun that we forgot to take photographs but we took a lovely walk around village homes before dinner and they were for delightful cats posed in a tree in the lovely fading light so that’s the post I’m making
We had the fixed priced Thanksgiving menu with three selections. The five us chose primarily between two of the three offerings for each of the four courses, and both choices for every course was delicious in the opinion of the person who ordered it. The Osso Bucco paired with saffron infused rice was particularly delicious. The wine selection is great. The espresso is authentic. The rustic tables setting was appropriate, and we were comfortable. Highly recommend.
An exceleent and different Thanksgiving Italian dinner!
Good selection from their fixed price menu, beautifully prepared.
The food looked and tasted very appropriate for a celebration—Magnificent!
This is the best restaurant in Davis.
Parmesan souffle appetizer was perfection itself.
Beet pasta ravioli with squid and orange butter sauce was exquisite - a lot of umami!
Those two courses almost did me in, and could only sample Osso Bucco alla Veneta that was deeply rich in flavor and cut like butter without being dry. Heavenly - it went home. Crespelle was nice ending.
Very friendly, cozy ambience that comes with amazingly delicious food. Timely service (no wait).
Always a great dining experience.
The new winter menu is great. The octopus in the octopus salad is nicely grilled and tender. The new osso bucco is excellent and popular enough to be sold out on several nights. Service is outstanding. The outside patio is still comfortable with the heaters. Highly recommended.
Birthday dinner was exceptional !!
A friend’s birthday celebration. We began with the antipasto and each enjoyed our entres. I had the salmon which was fabulous! I could have eaten more.
I have come here for many years for special occasions and I’ve always given rave reviews. On this last visit I found everything very good but not to the level I’d come to expect. I’ll give it a pass for now given the challenges and will return
We found Osteria Fasulo by chance on OpenTable on the way home from the airport. At first I thought I had the wrong address as there seems to be a townhome community at the same location. However, when you step into the courtyard you are welcomed by warm fire towers, fountains and fairy lights and an incredibly welcoming staff. The dining room is filled with Art and family portraits giving a very warm feel. We were greeted promptly and having been offered a choice we sat in the dining room. Immediately I noticed that every other diner was familiar with the staff and everyone commenting on how great everything was and "can't wait to see you again". The wine list was extensive, offering a broad but unpretentious selection. I had been expecting a traditional American Italian menu and was pleasantly surprised that while it was certainly Italian it was none of the Lasagne / Spaghetti / etc... that is offered everywhere. We started with a bottle of wine, Octopus, and a Carpaccio of raw filet mignon stuffed with lobster - very thinly sliced... Incredible! We followed with mains of the fish of the day, Halibut over spinach, and the special of the night Gnocchi with butter truffle sauce. The halibut was perfect. Flakey and full of flavor. The Gnocchi was by far better than I have ever had. Delicate, rich, flavorful and the perfect portion. Dinner was accompanied by fresh baked bread, first an olive bread and then fresh Italian... hot from the oven both times served with a parsley oil dip/spread. I don't usually get desert but we shared a gelato rolled in hazelnut and were given a spoon of meringue as a "kiss goodnight". Thank you Osteria Fasulo! We can't wait to see you again.
Definitely be best Italian food in Davis, everything we had was delicious. The setting is very nice on the patio/courtyard, as well. The inside restaurant looks cute as well, but we were seated outside. Definitely would recommend Osteria Fasulo.
Spent the beautiful evening dining outdoors on Osteria Fasulo’s gorgeous patio with wonderful friends. The food and staff were amazing as ever. 10/10, will come again.
So lucky to get back to enjoy dinner here. Even though we were not celebrating any special occasion, just eating here makes it a special occasion. Can't wait for Summer to dine outside again.
Great patio dining. We had wine and the Caprese appetizer to start our meal and it was very good.
They have seasonal menus so the filet mignon I was planning on ordering was not being served. They had a surf and turf special so I decided to try that. The steak was okay but it wasn't very tender. Half of my lobster was good and tender but the other half was rubbery. I complained to the waitress. who the left to ask the chef. After several minutes the waitress came back with an explanation that didn't even make any sense in relationship to my meal.
We shared a dessert and then asked for our bill. The bill arrived and listed the Surf and Turf with a zero price. Assuming they comped my meal due to the rubbery lobster we gave the waitess a big tip.
Ten minutes after leaving the restaurant I received a telephone call saying they had made a mistake on our bill and wanted us to come back and pay for the surf and turf meal. Not wanting the waitress to suffer for this "error" I returned to the restaurant and paid the extra money for my poor quality meal.
When we first left the restaurant we felt good that the restaurant cared enough to do the right thing for a dissatisfied customer. But with the way they treated me after-the-fact it is obvious that profits, not the customer, come first at this restaurant.
All of the dishes were delicious. Our waitress was fantastic!
Over the top AMAZING!
Excellent food, lovely ambience. Server was really helpful explaining food choices, but left us waiting a few times. Very expensive--like half a grand for five people, not being extravagant in selection but not skimping either. Delicious.
Today is my mom’s 100th birthday and I wanted to take her someplace special and that’s Osteria Fasoulo!! Mom ordered the risotto, though she never finishes it at other restaurants. Well she ate every bit, it was so light and delicious! I had my favorite, the halibut, and it was cooked perfectly, as always
A wonderful evening with my wife at Osteria Fasulo - food was mostly uncomplicated but all the better for that. Garlic bread was off the charts good, we shared the pasta of the day (a tagliatelle bolognese) which was fresh and tasty. I had the chicken and Parma ham (delicious) while my wife had venison which came as two on the bone chops, which she loved! Desserts equally amazing and all in a cozy setting with great service! What a wonderful find!!
Service was excellent, however the cost of the meals was high
All food items were extremely well prepared and delicious, including halibut special, risotto, and lamb chops. Portion sizes were a bit small, although this is likely a deliberate strategy to encourage diners to order dessert and other extra courses. Casual attire of servers is okay in a college town, but a bit out of keeping with the pretentious menu and wine list. Lovely outdoor dining space is well suited for pandemic.
The Ravioli ai frutti di mare was AMAZING. We all loved our food. Just wish we would have found this little hidden gem sooner. Anita, our server was great!!! We will be back!
Disappointing, after many years of great food. Veal medallions, fried softshell crabs, wilted romaine--all off the mark. Great desserts, and unique, tasty ravioli, however. We'll be back when there's an upturn in the kitchen.
Absolutely recommend Osteria Fasulo. The ambiance is quiet, unique and beautiful. I sat outside, so it felt very open. Grape vines and trees surrounding the area. The food is delicious, smaller portions then most restaurants, but that works for me. Staff are nice and well informed, not overkill on checking up on your during your meal which I like. The food came out in a timely manner and overall I was SO happy I treated myself to dinner here.
Exceptional food. Squid ink ravioli and rack of lamb were perfectly prepared and presented. A perfect place for a date and opportunity for conversation and relaxing.
Great meal.! Wonderful ambiance!
Excellent food, service and ambiance!! Highly recommend!!
We ate outside on a moonlit night. The waiter turned on the gas heater when it got chilly and we were very comfortable. We shared each of four items from the menu which worked out perfectly. Each one was delicious. Service was very good but a little slow when they got busy. It was expensive but well worth it in my opinion.
As usual, Osteria Fasulo provided a marvelous dining experience for ourselves and our guests.
Wonderful dining experience. Server (Mossimo) especially great.
