Osteria di Russo & Russo
Some of Osteria di Russo & Russo's specialty dishes include the maiale al latte pork neck cooked in milk with confit fennel, pickled radicchio, pear and walnuts, the chargrilled manzo beef rump cap with anchovy sauce and the pesce chargrilled catch-of-the-day served with cannellini puree, coastal greens and lemon myrtle, as well as vegetarian dishes.
Osteria di Russo & Russo's mora blackberry and crème fraiche panna cotta is the perfect dessert with which to finish your meal.
First time dining there would definitely come back and/or recommend. The food was very good, ordered more or less entrees to share. Asked to sit at the bar although we had a table, could see that’s where the fun would be, the staff lovely, One change id recommend would be to stop clearing the drinks and meals so quickly! Owner is a charming and attentive host. Enmore rd is fabulous!
Great little gem in the Inner West and a great place to go pre theatre.
Gnocchi and Zucchini Flowers soo good.
Innovative Italian cuisine with a great wine list ( the list contains many wines not seen elsewhere) all delivered by very knowledgeable professional staff who are attentive but not prying. Best of all it is great value.
one of the best restaurants in sydney. we consider it a regular on our annual dining calendar.
We were heading to the Enmore Theatre only to find our show, Mario Biondi, had been cancelled, therefore it could have been a disastrous birthday celebration for our two Sicilian friends if not for Russo and Russo.
This charming restaurant was such a find! Warm welcome, ambient space and what a surprising menu.
Perfect cocktails set the mood, we chose the 5 course option and selected a white and red from a more than decent Wine list.
Every dish was delightfully presented and introduced by waitstaff that were eager to talk about their food with such passion.
We were asked for our favourite dish of the night but it was too hard to distinguish, in my opinion, I cannot understand why this is not a hatred restaurant. It is plain to see from there is a lot of experience behind both the creativity in the kitchen and genuine passion on the floor and the genuine hospitality was so refreshing!
We will return with like minded friends as soon as we can, as for Mr Biondi? Catch you next time you’re in town!
First time there most definitely won’t be the last it was everything and more that I had hoped it would be.
Fabulous food and ambience can’t wait to come back
Great dining experience - excellent customer experience and wonderful food.
We enjoyed Russo and Russo very much, the food was wonderful, the wine was great and the service was warm, welcoming and efficient.
My friend and I had a wonderful celebratory dinner here. The service by Pino was exceptional. I’ve been here several times and the food has always been excellent. Knowing this I suggested we get the 5 dish chef’s menu. My friend and I enjoyed every surprise course and the cocktail of the night. Dessert was a dulce de leche delight. Highly recommend.
Very disappointed with the quality of the dishes, especially for the price. Been to a few degustations over the years and this was unfortunately the least memorable. I was really looking forward to the pasta dish, esp as they specialise in Italian food, but it was the worst dish of the day. And the wine paired with it was not nice nor did it complement the bland dish. Only highlight was service was fantastic!
The most friendly staff and able to accommodate dietary requirements when they had the set menu. Quality fresh ingredients.
A beautiful meal with lovely staff. Had a great time.
Once again such an amazing dining experience, so intimate and the food was beautiful. Can’t wait to come back!
Excellent food, great atmosphere. Perfect for date night
Service was very slow to start. Our predinner drinks ended up coming with entrees. A problem when a drinks menu has cocktails and they take second priority to more easily served wine. Thought oysters were not helped with Quandong dressing, oyster flavour was smothered. Venison and Duck dishes were good. Found it odd that waitress poured olive oil into a bowl on table, never offered bread and later on removed the bowl.
I've been going to Russo & Russo for a number of years now, but it seems to have changed a bit recently. The atmosphere feels a bit more sterile, a bit less homely. The service was fair - staff were friendly enough, however felt insincere and superficial, and didn't seem super knowledgable about the menu. I have Coeliac disease and asked for a gluten free chef's menu, however had to send a dish back as was served gluten. Not the end of the world, but if I hadn't noticed, would have been quite painful. The food was delicious but mostly room temperature, including risotto, which would've been nicer hot. I miss the old days of authentic staff & a warm, casual atmosphere.
We had dinner at this restaurant on Tuesday night and were so disappointed with the service. It was like we had been absolutely forgotten. We had the 5 course degustation, arriving at 745pm and didn't get the final course to close to midnight . Food was good but it was almost 45mins between the first and second course and were starving. We always support local restaurants and had invited out of town friends to join us but we all left extremely underwhelmed and will not be back.
Have walked by many times so for my anniversary I thought we would give it a try. The positives were a nice ambiance and we had a superb Sicilian red . We were give one finger slice of bread. I believe a bread basket would have given us a better impression. We ordered two entrees, zucchini flowers, one little flower each without the baby zucchini attached and a spiral potato thing. Both uninspiring and tiny serves. My main was a beetroot . radicchio risotto. Really basic with not much flavour and small serve. We had an entree of soft cheese, edamame and figs which was ok. My husband had the duck which was actually quite nice. I have worked in catering so I understand the challenges of running a restaurant but the lack of quantity and flavour will not have me rushing back. We had to get a kebab afterwards because we left hungry. For a $100 a head I was disappointed.
Always good food. Never been disappointed here. The wine list is good and the bar knows how to mix up a drink, and the menu always evolves. The service is always professional and attentive with knowledgeable staff.
The food was interesting and there never seems to be a fuss about bringing together different food preferences.
Our hypercritical foodie companion said the duck was excellent.
The wait staff are friendly and pleasant.
We had a most enjoyable evening. Thank you.
Incredible food, presentation and service. We all thought the 7 course menu was excellent value.
Walking in to the restaurant we were a little worried that we had chosen badly. It is like being in someone’s front room and felt a little dark and pokey. The decor is certainly eclectic. Think small Italian village trattoria. Our waiter attended to us immediately and was very helpful with regard to the menu and wine.
We had read wonderful things about the food and we certainly weren’t disappointed. Divine Italian with a modern, Australian touch. Beautifully presented! We devoured everything. So very delicious!!
A small menu ( a very large and good wine menu). You will it regret trying this restaurant. We will certainly be back.
Food wa delicious. Service was terrible best we’ve had in years!
Delicious food and wonderful service. Would highly recommend sharing all dishes to avoid any food envy!
We were so disappointed at this restaurant. The food was underwhelming, not tasty, (what was the sauce like glue under the brussel sprouts?), mean portions and expensive. They couldn't even make a decent salad. We got a bowl of mainly kale with hardly any dressing. Would not recommend this restaurant at all.
Food was fantastic. Even though we went the 7 course option we left the looking forward to a kabab on the way home. The serving sizes are not nearly big enough.
This could easily be fixed with a bread basket on the side of the table to accompany the meal.
Wine matching was excellent. Service also of a high standard. We liked the simple decor.
House made ginger beer was also excellent and much appreciated by my partner who doesn't drink alcohol - it's rare to find interesting alternatives.
Food was what we wanted - interesting approaches and combinations. We liked the progression of flavours over the 5 courses. Proportions were just right - 5 courses left us feeling satisfied but over full. Pricing was good value for money. Only downside was that it was quite noisy when we arrived - just lots of people talking in a space with hard services. However, this dissipated as earlier guests left, so we know to book either much earlier or a bit later next time. We'll be back. Thanks.
I would recommend but with some qualifications. It is a lovely small restaurant and the service is still really good as is the wine list but I thought the food underwhelming. We went for the degustation menu and wished that we had ordered a la carte. Nothing wrong with the food but we thought it unexciting. I will go back for the good things but with some caution.
Relaxed ambience, knowledgeable and friendly staff and impeccable service–could do with a few more pescatarian options
What a magnificent fall from grace! From what was possibly one of the finest examples of contemporary Italian cuisine in Sydney to bland, tasteless, overpriced, poorly cooked food. Quality of service reflected the food. Don’t bother!
Lovely ambience and fantastic service with a smile from all staff. They were extremely accommodating to everything we needed. The set menu was a good amount of food, however it would have been good to know the Chef’s picks for the set menu before recieving it.
I can’t speak highly enough of the food and the engagement from the staff - the meals are different, very fresh and very authentic. If we lived here we’d be going back - as we don’t we just have to encourage others to book in. Excellent
Wonderful place for a quiet and delicious dinner. The service was great - attentive but discreet. The food delicious light and tasty and the atmosphere cool and calm. Thoroughly recommended.
This is a favourite of ours in the inner west! Great for special occasions, delicious and great value chefs menu. We also like the natural sicilian wines which our could have by the glass.
A great local, but also worth a trip. Menu is interesting and changes from time to time. Service is exceptional - friendly, informal and professional.
One of our favourites in Enmore. Great food every time. We tend to go for the matching wines option as they always bring something different you wouldnt normally try. They do a once a month special degustation. It pays to book early.
A wonderful restaurant with fantastic food, great wines, and lovely staff that make you feel very comfortable. I would recommend any one I know to go to Russo and Russo.
Great family business. Have been coming here since it opened and always blown away by the food and the service
We love Russo and Russo.
At times, servings could be a touch larger and food hotter but overall, we enjoy dining here.
Wine/food pairings very thoughtful.
