This was our second visit. Our first visit was so impressive we booked again to celebrate two birthdays. While the food was again outstanding, the service was not. After taking orders, our party of 6 was ignored the rest of night. Unable to order a second bottle of wine and had to flag bus person to get dessert. Waiter then irritated and slammed desserts down on table.

It is interesting digesting the reviews. Nobody seems to criticize food, ambiance or kindness in service. Some criticize the speed as too fast and some praise it for being incredibly attentive. The only other critique I read that was negative was it was expensive. Our experience was excellent! Let me address expense first. If you come to Venice and are looking for a bargain, that’s on you! Venice is many things. Some good some bad. But what it definitely is not, is inexpensive. If you’re looking for a deal you need to search elsewhere and visit elsewhere. Almost everything is imported and everything is difficult to get. So you’re charged more. Add that to the cost of living on an island and the fact that a gazillion tourists a year come here, you end up with high prices. Now to the criticism of feeling rushed or too slow. We never felt rushed despite knowingly pressing up against 2 booked hours of committed tables. We were given all the time imaginable to order, eat and truly enjoy our meal. Italians don’t hover during food service. They don’t check on you every five seconds. It’s considered rude and rushing. Our service timing was absolutely perfect. We had the scallops three ways, tagliatelle with Ragu and the lobster spaghetti. All were excellent. Be aware, Ragu is not the same as a bolognese sauce in the US at Macroni Grill. This is traditional Italian cooking in a traditional way. The food was excellent! The service was attentive but not rushed. Don’t miss the opportunity. In my multiple visits to Venice I’ve often sought out excellent meals with little success. This one’s worth returning to and was inexpensive in comparison to much of Venice.

The food was tasty, but quite overpriced for what we received. We had reserved a table for four and specifically requested a nice spot. However, upon arrival, staff didn’t even acknowledge our reservation and seated us at the very back of the restaurant. That area, near the kitchen and toilets, was uncomfortably hot, windowless, and lacked any ambience. The overall experience felt rushed and impersonal—more like a place focused on quickly turning over tourists than offering genuine hospitality. At one point, I accidentally broke a water glass, and surprisingly, no staff came to check if I was okay or to assist with cleanup. We had to ask someone to remove the broken glass ourselves, and to make things worse, my husband was scolded for taking a napkin from a nearby table to clean the spill. There are many restaurants in Venice with far better service, atmosphere, and overall experience. I wouldn’t recommend this one based on how we were treated.

The restaurant was HOT to the point of being uncomfortable. The food was good, but what we ordered was not presented as described, with side orders missing entirely, or borderline inedible. Service was very slow. Our waitress was inattentive and then apparently assigned elsewhere after we ordered (as she was cleaning and doing other things around the room, and the waiter that replaced her was not helpful, either. The barman and the folks delivering the food to the table did a fine job.

Excellent service and delicious starters and entrees. The grilled octopus was outstanding. Enjoy everything so much that we are returning for our last night in Venice. Highly recommend.
