About Osteria BIGOLI

Welcome to Osteria BIGOLI
Executive Chef Claudio Marchesan has done it again, former chef of famous restaurant Pane e Vino! He has been quietly turning out some of the most refined Italian dishes on the Westside for twenty years, combining his native Italian sensibilities with a good deal of contemporary flair.
His former restaurant on Beverly Blvd., Pane e Vino, was a standard for fine Italian cuisine for years.
Now, step inside the new Montana restaurant and serenity reigns in the spare yet stylish interior. It is remarkably comfortable.
The emphasis is on the food. The cuisine"s strength lies in the use of local ingredients with minimal fuss, stressing the seasonal flavors.
The menu features salads and pasta, as well as pesce del giorno; fresh pastas are offered daily. The bread is freshly baked daily on the premises.
Wine lovers will feel right at home with the featured wine list of Italian and California varietals.

Great food and service. It reminded us of the same food and ambiance we experienced from our recent 2 week journey in southern Italy.

the food was wonderful true Italian cuisine and also creative... the wait staff is experienced and helpful. The menu is interesting. Good familiar northern italian selections. Pasta is fabulous...gargonzola...etc.

We had a nice enough meal to celebrate my husband's birthday but it was relatively expensive and nothing more than pleasant, with okay food

What a disappointment. I loved Vincenzo, the former restaurant on this spot, and hoped that Bigoli would be in the same league. The meal so a sustained exercise in mediocrity. A passable $18 caesar; a short rib papardelle that was shockingly flavorless; and a pinot grigio so awful it had to be sent back. People are nice and the room is pleasant but $100 for a shared salad, a pasta and a fish entree was mind bogglingly. This one is straight meh meh meh.

Great neighborhood Italian restaurant. We had a porcini mushroom risotto appetizer, a pasta and the Branzino. All wonderful. I wish there were more wines by the glass.
Dessert was ok, nothing spectacular.

This is one of my favorite Italian in LA. If you're lucky, you might have a chance to enjoy Opera time.

Menu had few options for vegetarians. Service was slow and inattentive for not being busy. Overall, everyone enjoyed their meal. The apparent Owner sat in the rear on his computer or doing something other than help his staff. Would have been nice if he circulated. My dinner came after everyone finished their dinner. Not good! They should have complimented at least ONE dessert.
Atmosphere and vibe did not fit the pricing. Corkage was excessive at $25 per bottle. Especially, considering we had to wait over 35 minutes to get glasses and open the bottle. Lots of room for improvement.

Second time visiting LA (down for Clapton) found this after a friend recommeneded the previous restaurant that was here (Vincenzo's??). Anyhow wonderful!! It is small so definitely suggest a reservation, but great food, the staff is wonderful, personable, always with a smile! Both visits--no complaints other than we wish they were in WA!!

A wonderful Italian neighborhood gem - friendly service, home made pastas, home-y feel. Caludio is a SF transplant, and had several successful restaurants there (Prego, eAngelo, Pan e Vino) and his depth of experience shows. Not fancy but quality food. A bit pricey but worth it.

The Cuisine was 100% authentic Italian, not Italo-American. It seemed as if we were eating in an excellent restaurant in Italy or at the home of one of our family members living in Italy. The chef- owner is not only skilled, he uses the best ingredients. We talked with him at length and learned of his suppliers here in LA. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Italy and the truly Italian Cuisine. I had the baked Artichoke and Branzino ( it was the real Branzino!) and my husband had two very Italian choices one if which was an excellent pasta. I am Gluten sensitive so I could not have pasta, but my dinner was excellent and I was most happy with my choice. The Panna Cotta was the best I have ever had.

LOVED Osteria Bigoli!!! Hanker chief pasta was perfect with a delicious pesto sauce. The veal medallions with prosciutto was flavorful and tender. Also, the service was friendly and attentive. In fact, we loved it so much we are going back this week.

First time visit and thought the food was excellent!! We had dined in this spot when it was Vincenzo. The servers are still with the new owner which pleased us! We ordered the pasta specials based on the server's recommendation. We were not disappointed. This is a small restaurant so reservations are essential!! We will be back!

Pretty disappointing....read good reviews so we went but none of the dishes we ordered (vongole, artichokes, beet salad, spaghetti) were anything special and overall was pretty bland. Loud blaring tacky music added to an outdated place that looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for a year? But that couldn't be as it just opened in December.......

Average at best...

We've eaten here several times at its previous incarnation and enjoyed it then but not so much today. Did like the little (3 person) bar at the front near kitchen.
The food was good, not great, simply standard. Long wait between courses. Skipped dessert
Poor service for such small place. I really hate asking for water, qtr refills, having finished plates removed.
I hate even more the overwhelming stench of disinfectant after the bus staff wiped down the table next to us.
Tables quite close together. Artwork on walls suggest garage/hotel discount sale.

No unlike other reviews, really not impressed at all.
Average at best.

The menu selection was great, and everyone was very pleased with the delicious food!
The only disappointment was the table placement. When I make a reservation in advance for my wife's birthday, I prefer not to be squeezed into the last little table space next to the food prep station where the wait staff are shuffling past constantly. They also arranged our tables in such a way that the seating arrangement was awkward, and made it difficult to enjoy conversation with my in-laws. So just make sure you request a table away from that area, and you'll be more than happy with everything else.

Food was indifferent to poor. High prices did not reflect quality of food. Final indignity was price of a few pieces of little gem lettuce loaded with sauce and too much crisped bread. Will never return.

We had a pleasant evening but nothing special. Service seemed confused. Asked what kind of water we wanted, waited quite a while, then came back and asked again. We had to ask for menu, ask to see wine list, etc. Help was very friendly but seemed like they were missing a person or untrained. The menu didn't have anything that jumped out as a must try. Our meals were good but not "special". Biggest draw for us was a convenient, local dining spot.

The environment was casual and low key. Some of the food was quite good. I found the Silk Handkerchief to be heavy and tasteless. Others at our table, however, liked the veal ossum buco. For a fairly ordinary local italian restaurant, it was a bit pricey. Dinner for four, one person not having a main course at all, only one glass of wine, and only one dessert, cost $200.00. The service was problematic. I had to wait for 20 minutes to get the sauce that goes with calamari. Meanwhile, the appetizer got cold. Several requests were ignored.

Tried this restaurant solely on the basis of seeing a paid advertisement/review/appetizing photos of their Italian cuisine - also close by.
Food was excellent/service very friendly and engaging - cute décor. We liked everything - husband particularly thought Chef/Owner's seafood preparation was surprisingly delicious. We'll go back - good find!

Food and service were excellent. But, given the fairly pricey menu, the owners should try to improve the appearance and feel of the interior of the restaurant. Perhaps some artwork, better lighting, plants, etc.

The restaurant's special Valentine menu was too limited and very overpriced. I ordered pasta as my main course. It was almost $30 and was just pasta and cheese and was like an appetizer size. The veal was mediocre. We were very disappointed in the whole experience and would never go back or recommend

Claudio is back! He was one of the founders of PANE E VINO. He's been around for a long time and the finesse and competence of his cooking shows it. OSTERIA BIGOLI is a charming, very small neighborhood place with surprisingly good food. Have the trippa. the pastas are excellent - especially the lasagna and the agnolotti. There's a good steak and lots of other goodies.
