We liked David's Chop House menu much better and more fitting to a golf club. We did not care
much for the food and the place was empty. We were shocked to see the review in the paper that La Grolla is doing the food. We like La Grolla better. We have lunch one a month and have been to Prestwick when is was Axel's. You seem to be going down hill. I have never given a bad report before...I'm sorry but the four of us unanimously vote not to return.

We were a party of 5 on a Sunday night. No one had a good meal and there were errors in how the meals were prepared. Each of us was disappointed and agreed we would not go back. We were hoping for a much better experience as it would be nice to find a good neighborhood restaurant.

Soggy grouper, swimming in a sea of butter? This is not that difficult of a fish to get right. The fact that it was served at all tells me the quality control standards here, if present, are way too low for us. We called it to the attention of our server who agreed that "that's not good".

This place is close to our house and we wanted ( this being our first visit) to "find" a great spot, close to home. We are still looking.

Our second visit was no better than the first. The lasagna and ravioli were both bland. Ravioli actually seemed "old". Perhaps they should stick to burgers and sandwiches.

we ordered a salad and a pasta . Halfway thru the salad course the pasta arrived . We suggested that the timing was inappropriate and the server blamed the kitchen staff The salad was entrée sized and we were to split it . The server offered to separately plate it for us but omitted to tell us that there was a charge for that . One of the pastas was very salty and quite average but the lasagna was good. We had chocolate fudge cake for desert and it was still partially frozen when it arrived . The setting is beautiful and there is a nice outdoor patio but the food is hit or miss

Prestwick Golf Club has a new Italian restaurant, and this one is a real find. If we understood correctly, the owner/chef of La Grolla in St. Paul also opened this restaurant, featuring a couple of the items from there. There is something for everyone--entree salads, appetizers, pizza, pasta, burgers/sandwiches, meat/chicken/pork/seafood entrees, many of which can be ordered gluten-free, and a very tempting assortment of delicious dessert options. Our server was friendly, sweet, and very accommodating to any special requests. It was also a perfect evening for dining outside. Everything was reasonably priced, and it made for a fun date night out. Put this on your list of must-try places!

Osteria at Prestwick is a good Italian restaurant at this golf club. The food is real Italian, done by real Italians. My friend requires gluten free pasta and the carbonara presentation was authentic and delicious!
The portions are large. The sea food risotto was perfectly 'al dente '.
We'll be back soon! I intend to use this as my go to Woodbury restaurant. Welcome back to Woodbury a true Italian restaurant.

We like the owner and have been to his former restaurant in Woodbury which was extraordinary. The food and service on our first trip were disappointing. My wife did love the mash potatoes.

I was excited to see that the smae folks from LaGrolla were opening this place at Prestwick. Its close, and Woodbury needs a good restaurant. Unfortunatlywe left dissapointed and questioning if we will go back.

We ordered the Tartare and Calamari as appetizers. Both were vey good, especially the tartare, These were definitly the high point of the meal. If I do go back, I would likely stop at appetizers.

My wife ordered chicken and I ordered steak. I'll list some attributes below

1) Temperature: Both were luke warm to cold when they arrived
2) Seasoning: The steak was perfect, the chicken was bland
3) Preparation: The steak was cooked as requested

When we ordered, we noticed that the dished came with potatoes and seasonal veggies. We asked if we coudl substitute another side for the potatoes, and the waitress came back with I quote "The chef is in a bad mood today and said we will not substitute anything". WOW. Just Wow. We were told not to substitute so we didn;t, but left a lot of food on our plate, Not the service we would expect when we are paying $50 + per person.

I was looking forward to this reviving the awesome former Axel's and David's place. I am a fan of LaGrolla and I know the owner didn't want to use the same menu but the items he did add to the menu like the Capisante was not the same. My husband did like his ravioli but I didn't care for my steak. I won't return until the reviews show an upward scale.

This not close to what Axel's was. The portion are as small as they can be. The prices are as "large" as they can be. The omelette was chewy. The desserts were OK but not great. Little selection of beers. The meat was good but served lukewarm. House potatoes were great.
Not to return.

This was our favorite restaurant for special occasions. However, it was Axel's and then became David's Chophouse. Axel's had fabulous Filet with popovers, and sides were included, excellent food. However, since it became David's Chophouse, the Filet was one step up from The Sizzler! And the salad is not included. The service was fine, but very short staffed, we had to wait 20 min, even with a reservation. Will find a different restaurant next time.

David's, formally Axels, was the go to neighborhood gem of a restaurant. Waitresses that knew your name, with impeccable service, and excellent food. We want to like it, we really do!
This night we came to sit on the patio for dinner. We were told patio seating was full, even with a reservation. We were told we could wait in the bar, and it would be about 20 minutes. I should say that the bartender was awesome, and although busy, took good care of us as we waited.
After 30 minutes I went back to the host stand, and was told they were very short staffed, and they were not sure when they would seat us. We decided that we would eat inside, if that was easier for them. They had a multitude of empty tables in the dining room, but we were told that the problem was that there was no one to wait on us.
We took our seats back in the bar, and decided we would go to a different restaurant. Just as we got up to leave, the hostess approached us and said they had another table ready. We told her no thanks, and we left, getting barely an apology.
We have heard that s name change is coming, and a new chef. We can only hope. Because the location and overall atmosphere here is great. But we won't be back until something big changes.

served me a martini in a cocktail glass.

Was told at the restaurant that no opening were avail for Easter brunch. Went to Opentable and was able to secure a reservation(thanks!). Arrived at DC and was seated right away. Food was good, however the staff did not keep the buffet table stocked in a timely manner. Our table waiter was absent, even though the restaurant was no where full by any means. I still wonder why DC had told me that no seatings were available. We had to ask other staff members for more coffee and water. We were never asked if we wanted another bar drink

This used to be a favorite of ours, but sadly we won't be coming back. The food was terrible, tasted like mass market, neither fresh nor scratch made.
My husband overheard the GM telling another table they've gone through 4 executive chefs this year, not something you should be telling customers. It explains a lot.

We had dinner with friends and thought this place looked good. We'd been there previously for brunch a year or so ago so thought we'd try dinner. It's a pretty restaurant and during the day has a great view of the golf course, but that's where the positive review ends. The food was sad. Crab cakes were not good, filet was tiny, paella was basically rice-a-roni (the only good part was the sausage, but the shrimp and chicken had to be cooked separately as the tasted like water and had no flavor (paella is supposed to be cooked all together. It was a sad dinner, especially for the cost. And our waitress was a flake. Would not recommend unless they made major changes.

This romantic, adult atmosphere is perfect as long as there are just well behaved quiet couples inhabiting it, and still great with some families as well. The atmosphere just doesn't lend itself to anything but adults, which I love having to rely on. Of course, there are kids and there are kids-- well behaved kids are never a problem.

We took our foster son for a "Happy New Year Dinner". We chose the place because we live just a few houses away. We had an awesome server. Becky was attentive, patient and went back and forth to the kitchen to answer our son's detailed questions many times. We all had the prix fix menu. My steak "medium rare", was way over-cooked. Most of the rest of the food was at best, "OK". We love having this restaurant in the neighborhood. We'd love it even more if the food improved.

This was our first trip to Dave's Chophouse. Because it is part of a country club, I was kind of worried it would be a little too casual. It is not. It's quite sophisticated, warm, romantic. The food was great. Popovers come with the meal and were very good. The wine list is not huge and is pretty expensive and so we only ordered a glass - but it was a good glass.

Our last visit was the first time the food was bad. We brought friends who were visiting and I was secretly hoping theirs was better. My husband was the first to say his was bad, and then it was the ripple effect. I was embarrassed as we were entertaining them and suggested this "great chop house". No flavor. I don't typically add salt to my food, but needed to to draw any flavor out of it. One of the things I always look forward to are the popover rolls. Even they came out cold and dry! We would never write a place off after one bad visit, so we went again last night. We made sure not to order what we had the last time. After we placed our order I was again looking forward to receiving the rolls. After fifteen minutes I said out loud, they must not do the popovers anymore. One minute later they arrived by our server. About 2 minutes later, our food arrived. At such a nice restaurant, there should be some space to enjoy each course. This is not an Applebee's. I ordered the smoked pork chop with the maple glaze on top of cheesy, bacon (I thought potato but tasted like polenta so I could be wrong). If there was cheese or bacon in it, it was a tiny amount because it was tasteless. I used a lot of salt to draw out flavor, but was still disappointing. Our server came by when we were finished eating and asked how it was tasting. Wish she would have stopped after the first couple bites to ask for different potatoes/or polenta.

Although this restaurant is close to home and has a nice ambiance, the food our last two visits had been so disappointing, we won't be returning.

Had dinner on Friday night. Ambiance was terrific. Went down hill after that. Service was abysmal. We sat for 20 min before waitress asked for drink order. After we got/ate our food we realized the waitress never stopped by to ask how everything was, or if we wanted another drink. The manager came out and apologized! Food was very mediocre. Not the same since David's took over for Axel's, at Prestwick. Won't go back.

We celebrated my wife's birthday with a family group of 10. We had a wonderful table by the fireplace in the very comfortable and classy dining room. The service was first class and timely, even with our large party. The food quality was above average but a little upside-down in the perceived value; pretty meager portions for the price. The highlight was the complimentary birthday dessert. We'd make a return visit!

The ambiance was wonderful. We loved the live dinner music and our food was very good. It was too much, but we enjoyed more the next night as well. Our server was excellent, anticipating what we needed. I would recommend it to anyone. The menu had old favorites as well as unusual offerings. Very nice.

My husband and I went and both had errors with our orders. My error was with the boneless Amish Chicken, that came with a bone in it. When brought to the waitresses attention she aggressively grab my plate and brought it back - no apologies. The fix was cutting the bone out and putting a piece of broccoli in its place. My husband ordered the California burger but got the Cowboy burger, understandable miscommunication. Again the plate was removed without apology, when it was brought back it was still wrong missing condiments with the remains of the other burger still on the plate. Their fix was to give us a free slice of cheesecake, we had brought our own dessert which we didn't even eat with our meal we wanted to leave so quickly.

Found this restaurant on the Open Table site. Wanted a nice restaurant close to our hotel in Oakdale. A bit worried about the previous reviews saying service was slow but figured we had plenty of time. We were waited on promptly and received our meal quickly. Food was excellent. We live in Nevada and just happened to come to MN twice in four months. Because of our wonderful experience in July with David's Chophouse; we made SURE we would have an evening free (out of our 5 days in MN) that we would have dinner at the Chophouse. We were not dissapointed and brought 4 others with us. Everyone enjoyed their meals and those that had wine said it was very good. This is sure to be a stop every chance we get to visit MN. The wait staff was superb in suggesting appetizers, dinner, desert and wine.
