Osteria 57 opened its doors in September 2017 thanks to passionate and hardworking entrepreneur Emanuele Nigro.
His approach to food is based upon the belief that all our experiences and relations are interconnected. The food we eat, the wine we drink, and the atmosphere around us, can facilitate and support the flourishing of our souls.
Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, on 10th street right off 6th avenue, the space is composed by a main intimate dining room with a bar, and the more private back room which is the perfect location for events and parties. An eclectic Italian menu composed of only seafood and vegetarian dishes is served at this new little West village gem on 10th street.
Osteria 57 will surprise you with delicious creative Italian food accompanied by a friendly service in a really warm atmosphere.
From the door, was welcomed warmly. The staff, especially Anthony, was super friendly. Felt like I was visiting an old friend. Loved the food selection which was creative and tasty. The drinks were ridiculously yummy. Definitely will return for more!
Wonderful atmosphere and fabulous food! This is a village favorite and we will return. We love introducing friends to this great find. Special was pasta with lobster and truffles shaved- excellent dish! The special cocktails are also imaginative and so tasty! Arrive early and sit at small bar to enjoy before dinner. Waitress was slightly abrupt and not so friendly but likely because the place was crowded and a bit hectic. Hoping for a tad nicer treatment next time....
Waitress put in the wrong order for fish course which kind of ruined it for us. Bread average, octopus was delicious, pasta with porcini mushrooms excellent. Seating was uncomfortable.
I went there for a warm and hearty brunch with my friend. Davide, our server for the day, went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We had a lot of fun! The food was incredible (especially the paccheri pasta and radicchio fonduta), the new chef Riccardo is clearly accustomed to a healthy and refine cuisine. I will definitely come back again.
Great buzzy neighbourhood joint. Fantastic experience.
Two omnivores and a strict vegan were all very happy and able to meet on common ground and share appetizers. All three entrees were very different and all were outstanding. We sat at the only outside table and the service team was great - never felt forgotten, never rushed and very personable and accommodating.
Food was amazing, but service was lacking. They seated us half an hour after our reservation started and we had to wait at the bar with our elderly parents who were jet lagged and travelling from Europe. Also, thirty minutes after ordering desert, we had to remind them about it. They came back and said that they had suffered a computer problem and that the kitchen never got our desert order.
It’s too bad because the restaurant is charming and the food is excellent, but service should be at the same level and we had a feeling that they overbooked their tables or booked them too close apart.
The quality and flavor of the food, topped with the friendliness of the staff, provides for a feeling of home away from home!
The food was very good. Unfortunately the noise level was a bit high and it was dinny inside.
Great food, quiet, perfect to get away from the noise of the ciry
Great classic spot for a West Village dinner. Candle-lit atmosphere would make for a romantic date spot. Small restaurant overall but cozy. We loved everything we ordered, especially the ricotta and fig toast and the crispy cauliflower.
Excellent preparation and service. Very authentic Northern Italian food with wonderful preparation. Dessert was outstanding. Very nice cocktails. Bad music. Lovely restaurant.
The restaurant is a fish and vegetarian only but I hardly noticed the lack of meat. To start I had the mussels and beans which was served with a spicy broth [but not too spicy] over a piece of bread to soak up all the deliciousness. For my main, I had the branzino which is a popular option, and the flavors and crispy skin are probably why. Unfortunately, it's served alone so I had to order a side to go with the fish, and I chose the roasted fingerling potatoes [a special for the evening] which were just on the right side of crispy with grated cheese on top. Last but definitely not least was the ciocolatto for desert. It was vegan, though I wish it wasn't because I think the creaminess of dairy would have made it a little bit less grainy. Nevertheless, it was tasty and the graininess became less of an issue with each bite. Ambiance was great though a little bit cramped but I guess that's New York for you. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing service amazing food amazing vibe. One of the best places I’ve been to in New York City.
Great cozy spot and food so fresh and good.
Great service too.
Excellent restaurant with an innovative menu. I particularly like the idea of having an Italian restaurant that does not serve meat. I am not a pescatarian or vegetarian but I think it gives the chef the opportunity to introduce different dishes or variations that I have found extremely well executed.
Limited but well designed wine list. Maybe the addition of an Italian well priced metodo classico should be considered.
Service is all right but it might be a little slow if the restaurant is full.
I will definitely go back and I will recommend this place to friends and family members.
It was a very cute, intimate spot! The burrata appetizer was delightful, the wine was very good. The cacio e Pepe was wayyyy too rich for me to finish, but my partner thoroughly enjoyed his squid ink pasta. We finished off with some strawberry sorbet that was the perfect sweet finish to a lovely meal.
Very cute restaurant, good for a date or dinner with friends, a group of 6 max. There was a back space that looked like you could rent out rooms for a larger party, very intimate and private.
Great ambience and great food. Polite and knowledgeable staff.
There were some significant service problems -- an order that didn't get communicated to the kitchen, a missing fork -- some of which probably had to do with the fact that we were sitting at their one outdoor table (which was otherwise a lovely experience). But the hostess was extremely apologetic -- to the extent of taking almost all the food off the bill and giving us some extra free wine -- and the food was delicious. So despite the problems, I would definitely try this place again.
We loved the food...but the service was chaotic. It was a bit warm--but we asked them to put the AC on and that worked:)
Wonderful meal and service! We sat in the front dining area a bit crammed but similar to most restaurants in the city. Has the heirloom tomatoes salad with watermelon- very refreshing and the cheese accent was delightful the fried calamari and zucchini was decent nothing special but the scallops with corn side was amazing! Must try! For entree I had the squid ink linguine de mare and my bf Gad their brazino. The pasta was fantastic. Great spice and lots of seafood: clams, mussels and shrimp. The Branzio had this great flavor no idea but it was very good although they could have accompany it with something to make it a filler dish. It was just a fillet and were expecting more. Overall, would go back for the delicious food!
I really enjoyed this Place. Not only was it cozy and do they have a friendly staff, the food that my date and I had were both really good. I had the scallops as a starter, I would come back just to have those again.
I really enjoyed my night here! It’s a cute place for date night and the service was amazing! I had the muscles and octopus which was delicious along with some wine and pasta. My only complaint was it was a tad hot in there, but overall would go back!
Super hot inside, needed better AC!
The restaurant is cozy and intimate. The food is definitely the star, especially if you like seafood. The service was gracious and attentive. Overall, this is a charming little restaurant that is perfect for a casual date or simple get together with a friend.
Delicious food and excellent service. I will definitely come back.
Our experience at Osteria 57 was good. Food was excellent. Service started really well, waiter was personable and attentive. Checked on us twice before taking our order. Food came out and then we were not checked on again. After dinner it literally took 20 minutes for dessert to arrive (chocolate mousse) I had to ask the waiter about bringing it out as he was at the next table. Getting the check took an equally long time. It was brought over by someone else who had a number of checks from other tables in her hand. The restaurant was also uncomfortably warm, literally sweating. The air would come on intermittently, slight relief, then shut off. Food was really good but I don’t think I’ll be back.
The food was absolutely fantastic, supremely authentic Italian fare —it took me back to Italy. The pasta was simply perfect and the dessert was sublime!
I will become a regular and recommend it to everyone I know.
Osteria 57 is absolutely superb!
The friendliest people are here and they really take care of you and make sure you are enjoying your dining experience.
This was one of my best restaurant experiences! The food was unique, fresh, and delicious, and the service was amazing. We are definitely coming back!
Amazing service. Food was absolutely Fresh and cooked to perfection. Hats off to the chef and manager who was absolutely great. He treated us like a host in his home. Went for a business dinner and everyone was impressed. Hidden gem here. A must try.
Good food, attentive service, very loud. Best dishes were crispy cauliflower appetizer & strawberry panna cotta dessert.
The restaurant is decorated well. The food is good but I have had much better for less money in quite a few other restaurants in the area. The food was cooked to perfection but the taste was quite bland. I had the octopus appetizer and truffle pasta. The service was very good even though they are from Milan.
I can’t see any reason to go back unless they rethink their ingredients.
Everything was great sans the restaurant temperature. If you know that it gets warm in the backroom due to the kitchen, you should add in fans and/or another wall unit for air conditioning.
Lovely small, charming restaurant with good food. Due to small size and very close tables, can be noisy. Service was very haphazard during our recent visit with multiple people, not knowing what the others were doing. Also, felt rushed. Kept trying to remove my appetizer plate before finished. Also waiter wanted to bring dessert as they were removing our entree plates. Would return and try again as I think this was not their customary practice.
The best food! Spectacular atmosphere! Amazing service. Everything was a top notch coming back on a weekend!
Excellent food at reasonable prices. A bit cramped and noisy.
Food is excellent. Ambiance is well done.. Staff is outstanding.
Amazing food and service. Thank you.
Perfect setting for a birthday dinner. The food was delicious and the staff and owner were attentive and friendly.
