I was put off going here for quite awhile due to the BBQ food truck out front. We didn't want BBQ, and without looking them up online, I just assumed they were. But we were taking my FIL to the Shock game at the Arena for his birthday, and wanted to try something new that had an outdoor patio to pregame. I was pleasantly surprised at their menu.
We sat on the patio, which was nice but hot. Would have been an excellent spot if it were just a little cooler out. I had the poke bowl, which was very good. Dad had the bbq chicken sliders which he liked a lot, and My husband had the Bacon burger on a Gluten Free bun. He wasn't too impressed over all with his food, said the GF bun wasn't very good (They are hit or miss). The rest of us enjoyed all of it though.
We'll definitely be back to try some other yummy things.
The food was amazing and you could tell it was all freshly made and made with good quality ingredients. However it was busy and we weren’t serviced that often and frequently had to wait for a server to help us. I would still come back due to the food but the service could improve.
Busy..a wedding going on down the hall and we had to have plastic glasses for our water. Wish there were more dinner entre choices. However Karen, our server, was a delight and made it fun. She deserves a raise.
We were seated inside as reservations did not allow for outside seating. A little disappointed but food was fine, ambiance inside is not very interesting. We had to wait at least 15 for a server to even greet us at our table after be were seated with a reservation. But as I noted before food was fine.
Seated at 1:50 for a 2:00 reservation. Hostess was very nice and accommodating by sitting our group in the shade. We did not have any other staff in the restaurant acknowledge us until 2:20. We sat there for 30 minutes without being greeted or offered water or anything. We were getting ready to leave as our server finally came to the table. At this point we were going to stay just thinking maybe they were short staffed or possibly the server had not been told it was her table but we were then told they had a limited menu between 2-4 due to brunch being finished at 1:00 and dinner not starting until 4:00. The menu had about 6-8 items tops. This is not explained on their website and if we had received any service prior to sitting and waiting for 30 minutes, we would have left much sooner. I asked our server to speak to a manager and she said she would get the Chef. I was thinking we didn’t get any food and my complaint wasn’t with the chef so why would we need to speak with him? I inquired about this and she very rudely stated,” What is a manager going to do for you that the chef can’t?” I was speechless. Long story short, apparently there was not a manger working and the Chef was in charged. That might explain the problem with the service. I’m not sure how the Chef is able to run the front of the restaurant from the kitchen. I did speak with the Chef and he was very apologetic and professional, however, with the way we were treated by the server we will not be returning. I was willing to overlook extremely slow service but someone just flat out being rude after sitting and waiting for that long, I can’t overlook.
Great location ok food
It was great
This was our first time in Spokane and this location could not have been more perfect! The drinks were amazing, the food was delicious and the staff was super friendly and attentive! Will definitively come back next time I’m in the area!
Food was tasty but portions a little small. Coffee was great. Why do servers serve coffee with a spoon in the cup? Not cool. Restaurant was spotless and staff and management valued customer service. They were personal, friendly and professional. Our waiter David was excellent..It was the perfect place for our Mother’s Day brunch. Will definitely return and advise others to try this little gem!
They don’t take reservations so they shouldn’t be advertising on open table.
Osprey's "igloos" allowed outdoor dining on a cold evening, which was essential with Washington's covid restrictions. There was a $100 minimum which was easily reached with two filet mignons, a salad specials and a good bottle of wine. Food was very good and the service was tremendous.
Food was very good. Service was a little slow for the amount of people. Overall a great experience. Love the smokey sage cocktail.
The service was outstanding and the food presentation excellent.
It was very nice, great view of the water. Felt safe. We enjoyed a lovely wine and salad.
The hamburger had odd cucumbers/pickles that over powered the burger. 3 appetizers were not available.
Food was good, service was good, nice place and the shuttle was convenient
I don't do reviews but the Osprey is worth one! We had a table of four and ordered 4 different meals. All were exceptional. The service was superb with a great balance of attentativness without being pushy. Great from scratch food with a wonderful blending of spices and flavors. Ending the meal with berries ice cream made in house. We will be back. Thank you for a very nice evening overlooking the Spokane river.
I think just growing pains in the kitchen. Vegan soup was really good and I'm not vegan. The entrees were meh. Overcooked pasta for example.
Service and cocktails were top notch.
The food was very good. The good vegan options. Pastas were good. As were the burgers.
Beautiful understated decor. Patio is going to be awesome!
Great new discovery! Food was very good, nice cocktail and wine list. David was a great, attentive server. We will be back!
Osprey is a new restaurant in a former local chain hotel that was sold and upgraded by the new owner.
This includes Osprey. The staff was very professional, and attentive. The menu is new , with a wide selection to choose from. The wine list ranges from top wines over $100 and low price selection in the $20 dollar range. We ordered a $20 red which was very very good and a equally nice mid range White.
Our party ordered across the menu, every thing was excellent and we will be Osprey customers in the future.
Wow, we went there with our family on a Sunday, early evening for dinner. We got the Steak, Hamburger, Pasta, Prawns, Street Taco. The food was amazing, not one thing was bad. And our server was very cool and easy to order with. The prices were reasonable too. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Thank you to our server Stephen and the kitchen staff, great job. We will be back.
Our service was excellent and attentive. Appetizer, drinks, dinner tasted great. The vibe was energetic with a noise level just loud enough to drown out other tables but not overtaking our conversation. We will be back and looking forward to patio season!
Great Food with gluten free options. Nice location on the Spokane River. Our server Meghan was Amazing. Interesting ambiance. It’s our new favorite Date Night option.
My guest and I enjoyed lunch at Osprey. Looks newly renovated with contemporary clean design features. We sitter by window which would have been nice on a warm day, but the plastic chair seat were cold so either they need to be padded on such days or that area of restaurant better heated. My guest ordered the chicken chopped salad and loved it. Perfect portion for lunch. I ordered the grilled cheese but requested sourdough bread, which they were fine doing. I added ham to the sandwich and was surprised it came with a side so I got the coconut curry soup. The sandwich was generous size and delicious. Perfected grilled and nice piece of ham. Soup was tasty but too thick and rich for me. Would have preferred it in more of a broth form. Very nice server and quick delivery of food. Lunch prices very reasonable.
Really good service, despite business of New Year's Eve. Good prices on Happy Hour and good variety of food choices overall. Appetizer of crab sliders was lukewarm. Husband's fries were great and burger pretty good too. Daughter's mushroom pasta wasn't good. Burrata salad was decent. Salmon & goat cheese taquitos were ok. Really wanted to love this place but expected more in the food.
We arrived at the restaurant and were seated in probably the worst table in the place. I asked if we could have a different table but was told they were reserved. However in the hour we were there, no one was ever seated at those tables. Our waiter finally showed up after we sat for 10 minutes. We placed our order for drinks and our entrees. After another 15 minutes a different server delivers our food, but we don’t have any drinks. After another couple minutes our waiter brings our drinks. This is the last time we see our waiter until he asks if we want our bill. We say yes he promptly drops it off. After another 10 minutes we ask another waiter to cash us out. She finds our waiter and has him do it.
Please note that this restaurant was not even half full. There should NOT have been such poor service.
As for the food, plating was horrible. I had the pork and apples and it was a soupy mess in the bottom of my bowl with a chunk of pork that was cooked too long. My husband had the Cubano sandwich which they should note has sweet pickles. He couldn’t taste the “jam” whatsoever.
We will not be returning to this restaurant. So places just don’t deserve a second chance.
First visit was very successful. Great service, food and atmosphere. Will definitely go again.
The prime rib was greasy and not terribly tasty. Kind of fatty. My father has curry coconut soup.
Was more like paste. The asparagus with my prime rib Was not good, kind of burnt and pale.
We were seated in a far corner of restaurant. Food was expensive for a meal that was not equal to cost.
My wife and I reserved a table for Christmas Eve. When we arrived at the Ruby River Hotel, the parking lot was nearly vacant. It was a little weird because the hotel isn't actually open yet and the parking lot was nearly empty; as was the restaurant. I heard another diner talking to waitstaff who said the restaurant was doing a "trial run". That said the dinners were tasty and the desserts were out of this world delicious. Kind of weird, "ambience" though, with so few diners.
Unfortunately our dining experience was not enhanced with the food which was mediocre at best. The arugula on both appetizers were wilted, the hamburger was ordinary, the asparagus was not trimmed properly and the potatoes were rubbery. Will not dine here again.
Pros: fairly quiet, very attentive service and the best prime rib we have had in a long time. Once the outside renovation is complete it should be a great place to enjoy on the patio by the river.
Cons: popping for a $100 dinner I expected to sit sit in better chairs than pure plastic patio type fixtures. The prime rib as I mentioned was delicious, but not very hot. The potatoes were room temperature at best. We had not eaten all day so we said nothing as we were hungry. The salad was standard fare. No bread or rolls offered. With a few basic improvements this place could easily be a 4 star or better with the good food they serve.
The location is great...right on the river and plenty of FREE parking in a lot. The restaurant is modern and sleek. The service was attentive, almost overbearing. The food is okay. There is a good variety on the menu, but the bahn mi sandwich I had isn’t the best in town. It was average.
New restaurant which is just opening up. We enjoyed great food, good service, view of the river. We went between lunch and dinner so the place was very quiet but we enjoyed a very nice meal.
Osprey offered a nice meal, well-prepared, good service, and the promise of a nice setting. I would go back, but the restaurant is hidden- I saw no evidence of the name outside, and the curb appeal is completely missing. The hotel it is in appears very worn down. The river view could be beautiful, but is under some construction and is poorly managed.
With a little work, it could be great. I hope people find it!
I was very impressed when we were greeted by the hostess, she was ready for us as we did make reservations, she had picked a seat for us based on our request, very refreshing! The young man that served us was very nice but seemed inexperienced . The menus choices were short and The food was OK, we were expecting a more higher end experience for date night, felt to us more like a cafeteria experience and not date night destination.
Amazing food, and the service (Nathan) was off-the-charts! One of those places you can’t decide which dish to try because they all sound so good. A hidden gem that we will definitely be visiting again soon!
Music was very grating, on the verge of annoying. Not relaxing or enjoyable at all. Too loud and hard to talk. Service was overbearing. It was dead in the restaurant so felt like waiters were tripping over each other and us to just keep busy. Waiter gave us the bill before my husband finished eating and then never came back to clear plates. Overpriced Bird in the woods, aka tiny chicken breast with no salad, soup or bread.
Really new restaurant, loaded with potential. Once you get past the dated exterior, you come to a very nice contemporary restaurant setting. The dinner was pretty good, dessert was awesome. Service was great. Nice atmosphere and location (great view of the river). We will come back again.
Group of 9 'Zags' for a family dinner. Menu is a little 'bipolar' with some (delicious) shared plates and individual salads/starters; also full entrees along side more casual sandwiches. Seemed to me that the menu doesn't know if it wants to be family style or more traditional 3-course dinning.
Signature cocktails over-reached for my taste I try a couple of them and they were both a little 'strange'. I had the 'smokescreen' and it was lacking a little sweetness for my taste.
Wine was reasonably priced and a modest selection.
Burata (cheese) starter was a crowd pleaser, street tacos and salmon & goat cheese taquitos were tasty
Brussels sprouts was a little greasy, crab cakes were spot on.
Salmon entree was delish and cooked to perfection on a nice bed of couscous. Mushroom pappardelle pasta was decadent with rich mushroom flavor and a creamy satisfying sauce.
Overall a tasty dinner and with a few minor menu tweaks I think Osprey will become a hit with the visiting Gonzaga University parents and families.
