A welcoming restaurant with surprisingly good food. We much enjoyed the evening. But two small
complaints: the glasses of wine are far too small, and the air in the restaurant is overwhelmed (at
busy times) by the cooking in the open kitchen. Still, quite a good place.
I came here Friday last week for lunch, right after my husband and I got married in the Court House. We came with my mom and grandfather ( first time visiting NY from Norway) and my husbands sister, two kids and their father.
First of all, we came over an hour before our reservation. I did not call to let the restaurant know, I just showed up and explained myself to the host. ( With this I am not trying to recommend people to do what I did, as I have long experience working in food service and arriving over an hour before your reservation is just not cool!) BUT the hostess was the sweetest ever and was totally understanding and great.
Because of the occasion I had requested a nice table, and of course being this early I did not expect to get the same table they had reserved for us, but we were seated at our table almost right away!
The hostess offered to take our coats and let us park the stroller by the entrance. I dont think I have ever been been so kindly welcomed at a restaurant before.
The staff we passed while walking to our table congratulated us on our wedding which was very kind.
We got our seat, which was perfect. Gorgeous view and big enough for us all with the two kids. Staff at the house had written us a beautiful congratulation-card - hangs on our fridge today!- and we were severed complimentary champagne for the occasion. Like that was not enough to be blown away - my husband, me and my husbands siste are those "annoying sober New Yorkers" and when we turned down the champagne, our sweet server was totally respectful (major plus!) and offered us something else instead for the toast.
We then got two complimentary salads while waiting for what turned out to be THE BEST BURGERS ANYONE HAD EVER HAD IN NYC!
After the most amazing lunch, with the best service anyone had ever had in NYC ( or basically ever!) we were guided up to the incredible roof for a showing and we got some insane wedding photos with the best NY view!
Be very careful when they present your bill. It is delivered in a leather holder. The holder was VERY GROSS. There is food and fungus/bacteria growing on the leather. So much that it was flaking off. Talked to the manager who seemed to careless.
I had dinner at the Osprey last week and brunch yesterday. My out-of-town guests loved the food and the view. The service at the Osprey is so good - efficient and friendly. The seafood Cobb salad was a hit with my friends. The Osprey is a great neighborhood spot as well as the perfect place to bring visitors to Brooklyn.
I love this place! I've been three times in the last four weeks: once for dinner and twice for brunch. Went for the view, came back for the food and ambiance. Love it.
Our waitress was very friendly and helped make our anniversary celebration memorable.
I ordered toast with salmon, avocado and poached egg , but the egg was forgotten. My son ordered ice tea and this did come neither. But the food was great and the ambiance cozy.
Had a 11 am reservation for table of 4 - we were promptly seated in a very small booth (we also had a baby). We asked to move to another table (the restaurant was pretty empty) but was told those were all for reservations (??). The table behind us was already seated and had pushed their seats back so we had even less room. Waiter was friendly but then disappeared. One dish came out wrong but was promptly fixed. Prices are not cheap - the food was good overall but not worth returning for the value and ambiance.
Went to the Osprey on New Years eve - party of five. We had reservations. Table was directly in front of the open kitchen and it seemed like chaos in there. Lots of confusion. It took nearly half an hour just to get our drink orders and we had to flag down someone to take our meal orders. Over half of the dishes were under-seasoned. Not condiments on the table. Please, just use a bit of salt or give me some. My husbands second course had a piece of a pot scrubber in it. They were terribly sorry and acted promptly. Comped his meal and gave us a champagne toast. The restaurant seemed poorly run and the food was mediocre.
Excellent meal, ambiance and view!
We live nearby in Brooklyn Heights and decided to have Sunday night dinner at The Osprey. It was an enjoyable evening from start to finish. The interior is warm and sophisticated and the view is outstanding.
The waitstaff was welcoming and professional. I ordered the roast chicken and it was delicious. My husband had the burger and loved it. Don’t miss the butterscotch pudding for dessert.
It was the perfect spot for a relaxing Sunday night.
Can't speak highly enough about The Osprey. We had a wonderful time. Shout out to Isaiah (at the bar) and Nelson/John/Tracy (in the restaurant)! We started off with the shaved Brussel sprouts Caesar salad, which was divine and cheesy. For our entrees, we had the Arctic Char and the Branzino, with both fish tasting fresh and delicious. And to top it all off, the warm chocolate cake for dessert. We were staying at the 1 Hotel for my partner's 30th birthday and would absolutely do it again. Thank you, Osprey and 1 Hotel!
Our first visit and a super pleasant surprise. Excellent food, great service, lovely views out the windows, just delightful.
Amazing view of Manhattan and superb food. Great place for a lunch or dinner with the menu being varied and large. Food was well presented and tasted amazing.
We had a delicious meal here, friendly servers, amazing wines, and beautiful view across the river! Our only minor disturbance was being seated right next to the noisy kitchen when many other tables were available, but it did. It keep us from having an amazing experience!
Beautiful setting for a family Christmas dinner—loved it!
No Christmas lunch. 5 hostesses standing around. No one driving. Sub par service.
We booked what we thought was Christmas lunch through Open Table. It said join us on Christmas Day for ‘our festive pre-fixe’. When we arrived for our 11:15am reservation we were handed a brunch menu and told pre-fixe menu wasn’t until 5pm. We decided to enjoy brunch and were booked back in for 8pm that night.
We were very happy with the service, staff and food and were well looked after after the original booking mishap.
Thank you for a wonderful Christmas evening.
Staff and especially the manager were fantastic!
Jamica was the best waitress! She made our birthday brunch extra special and the food was outstanding. Smoked salmon Benedict, avocado toast, cauliflower, butterscotch pudding, all recommended.
Great location tucked away from the crowds, the food was ok and average, our server was great and it’s a good casual place to grab a quick bite.
I chose the Osprey from available rese’s on Opentable for my birthday dinner w my mate. I knew of the hotel but not the restaurant. We could not have had a better night! From the driveway to the entrance to the restaurant to the table, to the wonderful card placed on our table for acknowledging the special occasion to the service and then food- all wonderful!
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there and our waiter was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and our dessert was complimentary because it was our anniversary.
I have food allergies and put server was very well educated about allergies and we all enjoyed an amazing dinner. Loved the food!!!
We would not return as the service was positively dreadful. It took 29 minutes to get a Bloody Mary and the charge for dessert had to be removed from the bill as the kitchen couldn’t get it out within a half hour’s time. A single course took an hour to arrive.
Amazing food ! Terrible service! They had really good plates
I come here for cocktails and the food. Wine is a bit on the more expensive side.
If you hit this place on a Monday night, you can hear your other party at the table. Weekend evenings get very loud. Beside that fact, the food keeps me coming back every few months. Yummy farm to table foods, solid cocktails and great service make this one of my favorite places. It was my birthday and they wrote me a bday card and gave me a bag of pastries to take home. I'll be back AGAIN!
While polite, Service was slow and uncoordinated...
The food was great. I’d recommend the stuffed dates and Chicken Pot pie. Service was efficient and friendly and the view across to Manhattan is fabulous.
Just an average place for an average lunch. Pricing is high by Philly standards, but not NYC standards
Great birthday with my daughters
Food was insane delicious! I booked a table for my boyfriend and I on Thanksgiving. Everything was so perfect, quiet, elegant and tasty!
Service was slow and indifferent. Waiting over 30 minutes for first course of
Prefix meal. I ordered draught beer and server served me different beer from a can and hide this from me. I just happened to notice
Awesome staff. Thanks
Staff very accommodating. We went to celebrate our daughter's 15th birthday and were surprised to see a lovely hand-written card dedicated to her. Small details make a HUGE difference these days. They really know how to cater to people.
Very nice staff! Good job! We will be back for sure.
Birthday brunch rocked at The Osprey
The staff were amazing ... food was delicious..
can’t wait to go back
Get the pumpkin pancakes...they’re fluffy and delicious.
Loved the Osprey. Not typically excited about hotel restaurants but this is totally different. Amazing interior design, great menu with healthy options and a great wine selection. Service was outstanding. Will definitely be back.
