Oscar's of Dublin Ratings and Reviews
First timers will definitely return in the future. Service was top notch and the food was better than I expected. Considering I had a beer and my wife had a martini and we had an app and salads and entree’s all for 80.00! My father in law has always loved this place and now we see why. Thanks for a great date night out. PS take advantage of the 2.00 valet that we failed to notice. great value as parking in the area on a Saturday can be a bit touch n go
We have a group of 8 friends and it is my job to pick a restaurant every New Year’s Eve. I chose Oscar’s first, because it was not far from our hotel. Second, because I read good reviews and third, because the prices were reasonable and the menu looked interesting. Wow! We were not disappointed! Great food, beautiful presentation, wonderful service, nice atmosphere! We liked it so much, we have already booked it for next NYE!!
My husband and I had dinner at Oscars on Tuesday, December 12 at 6:30. Our service was excellent, as usual. Salad and bread and drinks perfect, as well. I ordered the
scallop dinner, which I had never had before. I noticed as I started eating, that it was quite salty and the scallops were a bit rubbery. I didn’t say anything though, because I had eaten so much of the dinner. As I thought about it, I decided to let you know, in case there was an issue that night, or perhaps it’s the way the meal is always prepared. We have been to Oscars often and have never had a complaint! Also, my husband’s ribeye was salty, even though he asked for the seasoning to be light. As I said, we should have mentioned it on Tuesday night, but we ate the food and then thought it was too late! Please let your chef know, as this issue could affect customers.
We went to celebrate birthdays on a Friday eve at 6:15. The crowd was moderate when we arrived, grew, and became very loud. The bar was bustling. We were recognized promptly by the waitress. I ordered a cidertini which was not short on liquor and tasted great. One friend liked it as well. We also ordered a Merlot which was a good accompaniment to our dinners. Salads came out quickly. The house salad was a yummy combination of greens, spiced pecans, onions, cheddar, croutons, and sweet mustard dressing. One companion ordered the filet and the other the ribeye. Both enjoyed their entrees and said the beef was cooked to order. I had the sauteed sea scallops. The cauliflower mash and green beans were entirely compatible. The scallops came out perfectly cooked. The almond-caper brown butter sauce was spicy and while it didn't overwhelm the scallops, I don't think it was the perfect marriage. The flavor of the scallops was diminished because of the sauce. However, they were still good, and I cleaned my plate. We ordered desserts which were on-the-house for our 2 birthdays. We ordered the banana cream pie, s'mores, and white chocolate cheesecake. My favorite by far was the banana cream pie. The crust was flaky and the filling sublime. I wanted to trade desserts. My friend enjoyed the s'mores dessert which was chocolate pudding with marshmallows and graham cracker crust. My other companion and I agreed that S'mores belong around a campfire with smoke blowing in your face in the great outdoors. The white chocolate cheesecake was silky and smooth with a very mild flavor of white chocolate. I wish I would have ordered the creme brulee instead. It was nothing to write home about. Overall, dinner was good, but not outstanding from my perspective. I know my friends would disagree as they enjoyed their meals immensely. It was a fun evening because I was with friends. This is my second visit to Oscar's so I'm game for another restaurant.
We had the Walleye and a Pumpkin Seed Encrusted Mahi-mahi that were both very good. The soup and salad were also good. The Fried Green Tomato appetizer was just okay. Don’t think I would order that again. The restaurant was nice, but the tables were a little close together.
Oscar's has been our favorite special occasion spot for over 20 years. We were celebrating my 50th bday on Friday and had a meal that would make me never come back if I didn't know any better. The worst calamari I've ever had, including at Oscars! My husbands steak was tough. My daughter and I both had the crispy salmon (my favorite) and both were married to the bathroom Saturday morning. There is steep competition in Dublin these days. Oscars should not be letting things slip!
I went to Oscar's with my whole family to celebrate the anniversary of our first family meal in Dublin. My kids range in age from 8-13 and aren't particularly picky eaters. We all really enjoyed the bleu cheese wedge salad, great, mellow cheese flavor with fresh egg and red onion adding to the overall flavor.
For entrees we tried the crispy salmon, which was very good, very flavorful and cooked perfectly, the tuna, cooked to perfect medium rare, well seasoned, delicious and presented nicely, and two orders of ribs. The ribs were a little tender for my personal taste, but I prefer less "fall off the bone" than most. The rub and barbecue sauce for the ribs were both really, really tasty and the jalapeno slaw was amazing.
Service was reasonable and friendly, not over the top, but not lacking. It was pretty empty wen we arrived (6:15pm on a Saturday night), but was picking up a bit by the time we left, shortly after 7.
The atmosphere was nice, quiet, low lighting, perfect for dates or couples dinners and not bad for a family. I would not have been as comfortable if my kids were younger as it was not a place where I would want loud, all over the place children.
We will definitely be back to Oscars - there were a lot more seafood options on the menu that we want to try.
Oscar's is great and is our go-to for taking friends and family out. Chef Tibbetts is very creative and the food is always tasty and interesting. If you have special dietary needs, Chef Tibbetts will see that you are accommodated. If you haven't been there you really must make a point to try it soon. My husband really enjoyed the duck special and I loved every bite of the flavorful angel hair pasta with chicken.
We celebrated our anniversary, having dinner on the patio. The music choice is poor, it does not fit the restaurant. Once the Dublin construction is finished, an update to the exterior and patio would be a welcome change. Elevated balcony dining would be a great addition, overlooking the "new Dublin" across the river. We will be back!
The food was great.
We were at the very back in a corner, the table across from us had 2 children running around jumping from chair to chair and a baby that was crying. NOT relaxing or enjoyable at all.
Our waiter took forever for our drink order, then when he brought the drinks forgot mine, which took even longer.
He was flustered, sweaty (which he made known to us several times) he said they were very short staffed numerous times.
We felt badly for him it was apparent he was cleaning tables taking orders etc.
Coupled with the children across from us Not a good experience.
The food was good but not super noteworthy. The service was very good and the ambiance was great compared to other busy and noisy restaurants. For this part of the city, it is a good place to go every so-often. It isn't always our go-to place, but is good to mix it up.
