Oscar's of Dublin Ratings and Reviews
We had the Walleye and a Pumpkin Seed Encrusted Mahi-mahi that were both very good. The soup and salad were also good. The Fried Green Tomato appetizer was just okay. Don’t think I would order that again. The restaurant was nice, but the tables were a little close together.
Oscar's has been our favorite special occasion spot for over 20 years. We were celebrating my 50th bday on Friday and had a meal that would make me never come back if I didn't know any better. The worst calamari I've ever had, including at Oscars! My husbands steak was tough. My daughter and I both had the crispy salmon (my favorite) and both were married to the bathroom Saturday morning. There is steep competition in Dublin these days. Oscars should not be letting things slip!
I went to Oscar's with my whole family to celebrate the anniversary of our first family meal in Dublin. My kids range in age from 8-13 and aren't particularly picky eaters. We all really enjoyed the bleu cheese wedge salad, great, mellow cheese flavor with fresh egg and red onion adding to the overall flavor.
For entrees we tried the crispy salmon, which was very good, very flavorful and cooked perfectly, the tuna, cooked to perfect medium rare, well seasoned, delicious and presented nicely, and two orders of ribs. The ribs were a little tender for my personal taste, but I prefer less "fall off the bone" than most. The rub and barbecue sauce for the ribs were both really, really tasty and the jalapeno slaw was amazing.
Service was reasonable and friendly, not over the top, but not lacking. It was pretty empty wen we arrived (6:15pm on a Saturday night), but was picking up a bit by the time we left, shortly after 7.
The atmosphere was nice, quiet, low lighting, perfect for dates or couples dinners and not bad for a family. I would not have been as comfortable if my kids were younger as it was not a place where I would want loud, all over the place children.
We will definitely be back to Oscars - there were a lot more seafood options on the menu that we want to try.
Oscar's is great and is our go-to for taking friends and family out. Chef Tibbetts is very creative and the food is always tasty and interesting. If you have special dietary needs, Chef Tibbetts will see that you are accommodated. If you haven't been there you really must make a point to try it soon. My husband really enjoyed the duck special and I loved every bite of the flavorful angel hair pasta with chicken.
We celebrated our anniversary, having dinner on the patio. The music choice is poor, it does not fit the restaurant. Once the Dublin construction is finished, an update to the exterior and patio would be a welcome change. Elevated balcony dining would be a great addition, overlooking the "new Dublin" across the river. We will be back!
The food was great.
We were at the very back in a corner, the table across from us had 2 children running around jumping from chair to chair and a baby that was crying. NOT relaxing or enjoyable at all.
Our waiter took forever for our drink order, then when he brought the drinks forgot mine, which took even longer.
He was flustered, sweaty (which he made known to us several times) he said they were very short staffed numerous times.
We felt badly for him it was apparent he was cleaning tables taking orders etc.
Coupled with the children across from us Not a good experience.
The food was good but not super noteworthy. The service was very good and the ambiance was great compared to other busy and noisy restaurants. For this part of the city, it is a good place to go every so-often. It isn't always our go-to place, but is good to mix it up.
It will be wonderful when the restaurant doesn't have all that construction,
The manager helped me greatly with My Open Table Card with a $20.00 gift certificate to Oscar's. I thought it had downloaded to Oscars's but it didn't and the manager called on the spot to Open Table.
Open table was very responsive and the matter was resolved before we left.
I was there for my wedding anniversary, and it was our first time trying Oscars. I had the filet and my husband had the ribeye, both very delicious. He had the raspberry lemonade, it was tasty. I had the jalapeno pineapple margarita and it was so strong I had a hard time getting it down. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely come back and sit outside instead.
Although Oscar's is suffering from massive road construction that has cut them off from easy parking, some is available behind the restaurant. They have a good bar and their food is always fresh. There is ample room for large or small groups. Lunches are reasonable and good. Please support t hem while the construction is ongoing.
I was a bit disappointed in the interior ambiance. (We had planned to dine outside but the patio is in a construction zone while the City of Dublin does road repair. ) The interior is heavy and dark, and others may find it comfortable.
That said the food was delicious.
The patio was crowded and noisy. The server, not our waiter, brought the appetizer and served it across my dates face nearly hitting him with it. The cold cucumber and dill soup had too much dill. The gnocchi was soggy with little taste as was the sauce. We had tiramisu that was stiff and lackluster. The cost was moderate. It may be a good place for a burger and beer but I won't return for a nice dinner.
We had been wanting to try Oscar's, but hadn't had a chance. It was definitely worth the wait. Everything was wonderful from the staff, the ambiance, and the food. My wife had the veal scallopini, and I had the filet, and we both loved our dinners. We will definitely be back.
We have lived here five years now and this has only been my 2nd time at Oscars. I'm not sure why b/c both times I have gone I have been very pleased with my meal, the service and the atmosphere. The sea scallops are to die for and their bread is way too good. I would buy a loaf to bring home if they offered it. Thanks Oscars for a delicious and fun date night!
Went here for the first time during restaurant week. It was during the week and it was busy! We got seated quickly and service was quick! My husband and I got different options from prefix menu and enjoyed everything. We felt a tad rushed but that was the only negative. Don't know if it's because it was restaurant week or just was our server?? Will go back to taste more of the regular menu.
