Very pleasant. Often come in for a cuppa with friends. I am gluten free. I wish you had more than Carrott cake or Eton Mrss from the dessert menu to offer.
There was a delay in being shown to our table - due to same staff having to process bills as well as attending to new arrivals. It was a busy day and time. Overall it was a good experience and the staff were both friendly and efficient.
Food and staff both fab. Cannot fault anything. Would definitely recommend
Everything was excellent apart from the fact that, having booked online in advance, our party of 4 was shown to a window corner-table which realistically was capable of accommodating only three people. We appreciate that half the tables were out of use because of the need for social distancing but the waitress was very unhelpful when we asked for a different table and insisted that the table offered was intended for four. We did find another table and she reluctantly allowed us to sit there.
In every other respect our experience was excellent and really good value for money.
Good value for money. All staff were very polite & helpful.
Felt a bit chilly - it was the same the last time I was there.
The beef roast dinner was very good however a couple of roast potatoes (and perhaps a yorkshire pudding?) would have finished it off nicely.
Having said that I would still dine there again.
Lovely surroundings, and great food. There is a wide choice available from the menu, something to suit even the pickiest of eaters. Special mention to the staff who are really nice.
Really enjoyed my meal everything was fantastic definitely be back
Excellent service , all servers very efficient and polite . Menu choice very good .
Recmended to all friends .
Food was delicious.
Our server was fabulous. Young girl with short Auburn hair.
Enjoyed the evening. The staff were friendly and efficient and food was good.
One of the most disapointing meals I have EVER had! 1st the soop was LUKE warm, & was served with what looked like MORRISONS VALUE WHITE Bread, The other starter BEETROOT HOUMOUS was disgusting!...The mains WELL, The VENISON SAUSAGES were burnt, they were served in a POOL of gravy & the GREENS WERE SOGGY & TASTELESS!.. The BATTERED FISH & CHIPS , The fish was MINISCUAL Once you took the batter of.. There was NO TARTARE SAUCE Served & was tastless. The best idea was & I did ask for a doggi bag rto take this back home for the dog. I expect it would feel Why are you givingf me this HORRID FOOD!.. I told the Waitress but NOTHING HAPPENED!!. I was near refusing to pay the bill but my friend JUST WANTED TO LEAVE!!. OVER ALL people SPEND YOUR MONEY ANYWHERE BUT HERE FOR FOOD!!! DISGUSTING BIRTHDAY EXPERIANCE!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
Would like to go back again, very nice place, great food and lovely service
I found the experience a bit underwhelming. From the service to the food. I think for the main hotel in town I expected more. If you look at the menu on line it looks extensive. The real menu for Saturday evening was at a pub level or lower and on entry at 7pm we were told no steak on the menu!
Toilets had no hand wash in the dispensers .. I lie, they had an almost empty bottle I had to shake and shake, then the hand dryers weren’t working, surprise no paper towel either
The staff, service, food and value for money for Oscars gets top marks. The only reason there’s not full marks for the entire experience is that the access to the restaurant was not great. We got a disabled space easily (right by the entrance) but my mother-in-law found the steps to get into the hotel difficult (getting her to the ramp with her walker would have been even further for her to walk) and then the automatic doors didn’t fully open (they jammed but opened if pushed) and then finally there’s another door that has to be manually opened, which isn’t easy when trying to help a someone who has difficulty walking. Quite a stressful experience.
Absolute rubbish service, had to ask for dessert menu after sitting for 30minutes. Will not be back
A few of our guests ordered steak pie but meat was very tough and some bits not cooked properly.Delay with serving deserts and people getting served at different times
Very enjoyable dining experience. We turned up about 20 minutes late but that wasn’t a problem. The main course was fantastic , would recommend to everyone to eat here !
Fantastic value for money on 2 course Sunday Lunch. Quality of food first class. Lighting in dining area needs dimming down for ambience, too bright at present. Maybe some Jazz FM piped into restaurant
Lovely surroundings and outlook. Friendly, cheery and helpful staff. Delicious food. We are veggies and sometimes its hard to get something tasty, and it wasn`t macaroni cheese!
Enjoyed my visit as did my party. We will return again next week !
Staff are attentive but not intrusive. The choice of food is extensive and varied. Presentation is very good and food quality is perfect. Prices are fair and represent value for money. I've never been disappointed by Oscars and have taken family and friends there for special occasion meals.
Food was good and staff were attentive and friendly. Would certainly go back.
Pleasantly surprised not been in for a while. Great menu the two course deal was also good. All three meals were well presented and really lovely. Service was great albeit drinks slightly slow so our food arrived before our drinks but not a huge issue.
We all really enjoyed our visit and will come back more regularly now.
First time visiting Oscars. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and exceptional value. The hotel area look beautiful and we are going to make it a point to stay here.
Good food, pleasant staff, good service and a window seat with view.
Booked table for 30th anniversary as we were staying overnight in hotel. Requested bottle of prossecco at table which was substituted by a bottle of Charlmagne 5.5% vol. Told by waiting staff prossecco not available and would be charged the same! Surprisingly we're not consulted as to whether this was an acceptable and bottle was already open. Not what we'd asked for and charged £29.99 for low alcohol sparkling wine with little flavour! If we'd known this we would have ordered a bottle of white or red wine. I ordered from 2 course set menu, others in party from a la carte. I happened to like a starter and main course from 2 course menu and mentioned to waitress I'd also like a desert afterwards. I was embarrassed that she felt the need to tell me I'd need to pay extra for this. Obviously I knew this was from the other menu and would cost extra. This was the second time 'money' was referred to which was not an issue. We were celebrating our special occasion. We are most unhappy about the lack of communication regarding the ability to provide Prossecco and feel we should have been asked if the alternative was acceptable.
Very enjoyable lazy Sunday afternoon meal. The IPA was excellent
18th birthday celebration, 11 of us, several of the food orders were wrong, no soup spoons on table, had to ask. No one asked how the food was, and no one asked us if we wanted any more drinks, we had to ask. One guest asked for apple sauce for the pork Sunday lunch to be told he’d check and never appeared back with it or to tell us there wasn’t any!! The glare from the eyes of one male server from above his mask was so disrespectful I could’ve left there and then!! Had to ask for empty glasses to be removed, had to ask for the sweet menu, had to ask for coffees and then when we wanted the cake brought over there was empty food plates still on the table. Cake was brought to the table then just left with no plates or napkins and no knife to cut it, had to ask again!! Very poor service all round, was like we had been forgotten about!! Food was ok, beef portion on the Sunday lunch poor though. Won’t be back I’m afraid!!
My vegetarian burger was fried, mushy and greasy.
Food was great value for money. Great choice of food and drink which was delicious. Friendly staff and excellent service. Comfortable restaurant with stunning views. Will definitely return.
Everything was fine. We selected from the shortened limited lunch menu although was tempted to choose from the al la carte menu, ( more expensive, more choice but assuming larger portions ) but resisted. Starter and main course was £12 + We paid £29.50 , that included a soft drink each. So £15 a head for lunch is reasonable
Lovely atmosphere. Food great and if you reserve ask for booth at front as lovely view if seafront.
Service a bit slow but otherwise all fine. We go regularly and find the location and availability very good.
Staff were very welcoming, attentive and service was excellent. A lovely meal with a friend and we will be back.
Fabulous surroundings… even better than pics show. Lovely service and excellent food. Portions much bigger than a ‘standard’ lunch menu usually provides… the view just finished it off! Enjoyed it so much we have booked a few nights in November!
Always like the brisbane but felt thd fish tea portion was very small and not value for money
We eat here often and the food is always delicious.
great value too
The choice of menu and value for money at Oscars is excellent. The staff were very friendly and attentive. View from restaurant overlooks the seafront which was beautiful and hotel grounds/entrance very nice.
Very relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere.
