One of the best meals of my life. Went for my birthday and we were blown away by the interesting and delicious dishes. Best scallops I’ve ever had. Outstanding service great wine and cocktails, and a beautiful restaurant with good music playing. Will be back!!
Although it seemed a bit tricky to find, it is a restaurant in a hotel and the sign for the restaurant is dwarfed by that of the hotel’s, follow the numbers and you’ll be there.
The three of us shared 2 appetizers, the three main dishes and an incredible dessert. Everything was flavorful, beautifully presented and excellently prepared. The waiter was attentive without being intrusive. He was able to answer all questions and shared his own preferences when we asked.
I can’t wait to go back.
We dined here the morning after a Broadway show. We enjoy a Spanish twist to our food so we had decided to try Oritzi for brunch. The food was excellent and service was very good. The Sangria Syrup for the pancakes was a decadently sweet delight (why isn't it an option for the French Toast?). French toast with cidra apples was excellent.
Went for a birthday dinner and had a great experience. The food was nothing like I ever had before and wouldn’t mind going back again.
Great experience and delicious food!
The restaurant is beautiful and tastefully decorated. The food is excellent and the service is as well.
We tried Ortzi before an evening at the theater. The branzino was delicious, and all the other dishes were good. The portions are plentiful, so next time we will order less food.
The staff was helpfula nd they made sure we got out in plenty of time to make our show.
We’ve done pre-theatre lunch at Ortiz twice now...it never disappoints!
A pre~theater lunch for 2, delightful! Located just enough off of the theater-circuit restaurants to NOT feel hustle-bustle, but still easily within walking distance. Beautiful vibe, relaxing, attentive, prompt and friendly service, and best of all, it was delicious! Shared Bonita del Norte( preserved tuna w/ remoulade, caper berrries and toast strips)and croquetas de Jamon ( ham croquettes w/ pickled tomatoes-) for apps. Both were yummy, the latter a tad spicy but we loved it! I had the Lubina (roasted branzino w/ zucchini, and peppers over chickpeas. I often order branzino and this was especially well-prepared. A generous portion, crispy skin and I ate every bit! My friend had the Bikini sandwich ( a very delicious grilled ham and cheese with a side salad) . Delish as well. And don’t skip dessert. We split a custard tart with pistachios and apricot-light and a just-sweet enough ending to a great meal. Will def return and recommend it to all!
Absolutely delicious Basque-influenced food, fairly priced. Very good service. Highly recommend Ortzi for a change of pace from French/Italian/Asian cuisine.
Excellent Spanish (Basque) cooking.
Excellent creative tapas. Attentive service and never too noisy. I have been many times.
Delicious find in the theater district. We shared a variety of menu items and enjoyed each one! Unique Spanish style food. Great for a pre-show dinner, as opposed to the usual tourist traps!
We were staying at the hotel attached to this restaurant and were very excited to try it here because we are big foodies. When our main course was delivered the server forgot to order my husbands side of potatoes so he had to wait for those while his steak was getting cold, which we did not say anything about because everyone has an off day. Then the last 20 minutes of our meal we had to listen to who I believe was the manager who was organizing the wine display say the F*** word so many times that after the 5th time I stopped counting. For a meal that was almost $200 I expect the food to be delivered on time along with the F word never being spoken once from the staff when they are 5 feet from our table.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Ortzi. The food was well paced and delicious. Our servers were attentive and thoughtful. I would absolutely return.
on my 4th visit here, over 3 years, this Basque food knocks me out once again..... very special!
El lugar muy bonito, pero lamentablemente teníamos reserva para más 21.30hs y recién nos dieron la mesa a las 22.30hs, los meseros excelente atención !
Everything we had was excellent. Fava bean salad, paella, roast suckling pig. One of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time.
Amazing food and amazing service. Will definitely be back again!
I think the food was good enough but, I think service makes every meal. We were not told about how the menu works, was on the meat and cheese board and how should order till another waiter welcomed another couple... I had beef here for an event and expected a better experience. Food good service the reason u wont be back.
Very enjoyable, great food, great location, excellent service.
We really liked Ortzi. Great authentic basque tapas... sardines, carabineros, jamon, etc. Great flavors/ good prices. Excellent service.
Notify guests of service charges added by Hotwl to check prior payment. Thanks!
Excelent food, excellent service, super recommended
I went here for their Christmas Prix-Fixe and it was so worth the money. I got two bonus amuse-bouche which were well presented, food was very authentic, creative and well presented. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was very cozy and chill. Will come here again and bring friends for sure!
Did the tasting menu for four. Plenty of fresh and flavorful choices. Winners of each course: red snapper tartare, pan con tomate with goat cheese, suckling pig and oxtail and for desert the chocolate panna cota. Not as crazy about the seafood paella, croquetss de jamon and the cake dessert. Overall very pleased.
The Ortzi lunch menu is a good buy for a great meal. I had the green salad, which was tasty, and the fish (branzino) filet. Delicious sauce and surprisingly good chickpeas. Well seasoned without being salty or too spicy. Wines are delicious, a good selection by the glass. A bit pricey, but hey, it's a hotel in Manhattan. Could be worse.
My favorite lunch spot in the area.
Great restaurant and very good Paella. Was disappointed because I made reservations way in advance for a very special occasion. Maria called me just that morning to let me know I would not be sitting at the main dinning room. Instead I would be dining at the bar. It was too late for me to make another reservation at a comparable restaurant. I didn't even get a free dessert!
reservation made 48 hours before. was shuffled to the bar area 3 hours before arriving. arrived 15 minutes early and was seated without delay. Tapas was excellent.
Excellent food and incredible food pairings. Just a bit noisy. A very hard room. The staff was most accommodating
We were dining at Ortzi because it was convenient pre-theater, but it really is a great spot all on its own. We had lovely starters and followed that with the octopus paella, and that was a show-stopper both visually and as an epicure.
Really great food, nice service, brief wine list but we had a great bottle (Spanish chardonnay). Also had a celebrity sighting while there, as James Comey was leaving the restaurant as we arrived.
Fascinating eclectic basque food with creative twists on a theme. Great service friendly atmosphere helpful staff. Each creation was a masterpiece of visual presentation and flavor.
Last minute reservation on a Friday night was much appreciated. Good food but not spectacular.
This is my second time there and the restaurant did not disappoint. I loved the dinner so much the first time that I brought a friend for holiday lunch. She enjoyed the whole experience and will be going back with her husband who enjoys good food. We shared tortilla espagnola, ham croquettes, abondigas and scallops. Every dish was light and airy so that we were pleasantly surprised to feel overstuffed, at the end. The waitress (same one from first time) was great, bringing us fava bean salad, compliments of the house and her to begin our meal. (First time, they had sent out mini rolls that were to die for.) Manager came by to see how everything was. The server who gave us water, took the time to take our pics for us, on each of our phones!! Everything really was beyond expectations! Ortzi has easily become my new go to restaurant!!
Desorganisation, annoying cold wind
It was wonderful! Chef Garces is a genius!
You can't go wrong with a Jose Garces restaurant. The branzino was delicious. I you are a picky eater or don't like or don't don't like meals that are too complex it may not be for you but if you are a foodie or a Jose Garces fan I'd definitely recommend it. The staff were very nice and helpful and its located right near Time Square so it's a good place to go if you are seeing a Broadway show and want to get a meal before or after.
This was the one night in the city that we did not have reservations for dinner. Scanning Opentable, I came across Ortzi, checked out the menu and decided to dine here.
In my opinion the food was phenomenal. Service was friendly, helpful and professional although a bit brisk sometimes but that’s okay. We started with (I’m not even going to try using the Spanish names) the Ham Croquettes, Sardinas, Fava Bean Salad and the Spanish Red Prawns. They were all incredible!
I had decided on the Paella Marisco (seafood) for my main course and have to say that it’s better than the ones I had in Barcelona or anywhere else for that matter! Seafood was perfectly cooked, rice had depth of flavor and unctuous. Simply delicious. Portion was large enough to share but I have a healthy appetite and devoured it without issue. My husband had the Crispy Suckling Pig and he was totally in love with it. Smaller in size but rich and fulfilling.
I would like to compliment the Chef(s) and the staff for an amazing experience. We will be back!
Went to meet with a client for lunch. The kale salad was delicious.
