Outstanding food! The staff are the best I have come across in a long time. Wonderful experience. Put this place on your list.
Very much enjoyed our dinner at Ortzi! The food was excellent and the staff was friendly and attentive. It was the perfect location for us as well as it was close to our Broadway theater show.
I was disappointed that the Restaurant Week menu didn’t specify that the offerings would be sandwiches. Also, I felt slightly cheated that with the 3 people in my party had to share the same tapas. We all ordered the same thing so shouldn’t each have had our own? The food tasted good but my friends did not enjoy the sandwich bread. It was toasted very hard and was difficult to bite through. I had to eat the bread separately from chicken that was in the sandwich.
Food was excellent and I would return for the food. Service was not up to scratch, no personality whatsoever and hostess was either very inexperienced or just didn't care what impression she gave - we almost walked out based on her 'welcome'. A long way to go service-wise. Décor is very bland and typical of a hotel restaurant, much more could be done to give the space a touch of the Basque country. Such a shame that no other element of the experience matches the food.
The food and service was really good.
The best restaurant I’ve ever been to. Each dish was perfectly crafted from the red snapper crudo the the chicken and grits dish right down to the chocolate caramel dessert. The staff was delightful. A wonderful dining experience. Can’t wait to go back!!
Excellent tapas and serivce! We got here a little early and had a drink at the bar which was lovely. The dining area is also very nice and we had authentic tapas which were delicious. Try the jamon serrano, croquetas, albondigas, gambas, and snapper crudo. All were wonderful! Definitely we will return!
Great service and food. Reasonable wine mark up and lovely rye cocktail.
An absolutely incredible place to enjoy some of best tapas plates around. Felt like I was back in San Sebastian Esp
Very good food but not sure it is Basque in any way- Had grilled chicken sandwich and fries. 1st course salad ham and Manchego tapas but still didn’t say Basque or Spanish to me. Waitstaff was excellent and friendly.
Went during NY Restaurant Week
Great food and knowledgeable staff. A little expensive for the portions size but worth it.
We loved the food, really great tasty dishes! Staff was rude to my friend who needed to change her baby. In addition there was a slight odor (like egg?) in the room..
What a fantastic find! Wonderful flavors and careful preparation with attentive service. Who could ask for more? I am recommending to all of my friends. It’s also reasonably quiet and intimate.
Great!!! Do not leave NYC without eating here! The pork ribs with black bean stew is to die for!
Another sad hotel restaurant in Midtown. The windowless dining room reminds me of a Holiday Inn Express and the staff seemed really apathetic.
As always, service is excellent and good delicious. Go to theater often and always have dinner before and am never disappointed.
Wonderful meal, great atmosphere, superb service. I can’t wait to go back again!
Went for restaurant week (lunch) so not too noisy and not too crowded (but can't tell if it would be louder with a crowd). Appetizers were ok (no choice on the restaurant week menu) but entrees were very good. This is a nice, more upscale option in the theater district.
the food was good, but I think the quantity can be bigger, it was too little. Great taste.
I booked this to bring a new business contact to lunch. It was as good as expected based on reviews. I was happily surprised to find it was restaurant week so for $26 each we had four appetizers served and shared. Choice of entree included Short Ribs and Branzino which I chose. My mean was amazing. The chick pea side was really good. The Branzino was perfectly cooked and the skin was cooked crispy. Great choose for lunch and service was quick allowing my guest to make it to his next meeting.
This is a great restaurant conveniently located in the Theater area. I have had lunch, dinner and Happy Hour there and all was great with authentic Spanish cuisine expertly prepared. Tried the paella this time for the first time and it was delicious down to the crunchy rice.
The food was spot on. The flavors were well thought out. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very helpful. He was attentive but not imposing. The bill for 6 in NYC was well under of what I expected. I’ll be back and I highly recommend.
My husband and I had three tapas and two entrees and two desserts. Everything was delicious and our server was very good. The main course dishes are not large but we ordered a side dish with the entrees. We left satisfied and not overly stuffed. We would definitely go back again!
Very Good! We were in the city to see a show wanted to try real tapas. The food was a little pricey for the portion size but it was exceptional. My wife and I orderd 5 plates to share and dessert. We left content not overally stuffed. I would definitely go back when in the city again.
MY wife and I went for brunch and had a great time. The folks and the food was truly very nice...
Ortzi food is really delicious and dining area is nice and comfortable. My favorites are the Tapas or small bites. Great for pre-theatre.
Food is delicious although the portion sizes are Barbie sized! The $26 lunch is terrific but the salad is comprised of four lettuce leaves. The soup is a teacup full. No bread served.. that said whatever you do get is terrific and high quality maybe worth a visit during restaurant week?
I've been to Ortzi a number of times, and have never been disappointed. The lunch menu is great (even though they took off the lamb sandwich, my favorite). It's not cheap at $26 for 2 courses, but it's well worth it. My only complaint is that I didn't want to sit in the bar area on the high top, but they had no room in the dining room proper. Next time I reserve I will make sure they know my preference.
Always great. Love this restaurant. Unique food, great wine. Nothing bad to,say
Tapas menu was outstanding . Enough to eat of off for two but we decided to get the braised short rib sandwich which was delicious.
I was incredibly disappointed. I arrived for my reservation which I made well in advance and was told that the dining room was closed. I had to eat in the bar and the bar menu was not the full menu. And the ambience was certainly not what I desired. The bartender did a good job but I didn’t come to New York to eat bar food. I noticed that other people came in to eat in the restaurant and were turned away for the same reason.
A wonderful creative and non-touristy menu in the heart of Broadway. My son says one of the best burgers ever - so juicy and tasty.
Every meal available from breakfast to dinner with a great happy hour in between.
Express lunch and pre-theatre service is great.
Friendly and knowledgable staff members - Enjoy!
Service was terrific and the restaurant food was very good. Next time back in NYC I would definitely go back again.
Our meal was delicious and our barttender, Brando, was perfect!
Nice Tapas lunch! Everything was amazing!
I thought the food was excellent and the prices were affordable for the top-notch food and service. The server gave good recommendations and was very cognizant of our time limitations. The restaurant was not crowded at all at 6pm and the noise level was perfect. Great location for seeing a Broadway show. The hostesses were really friendly on the two occasions I interacted with them. I'm still in awe of how affordable this restaurant was! I'm from DC, and these are prices one would pay for much lower quality food and service. I love NYC!
We had a wonderful pre-theatre meal with friends, and can't wait to return for a more leisurely evening. (All of us are foodies, and one is a professional chef.) Gracious service from every employee with whom we came in contact enhanced the creative and delicious food. Only complaint was that unisex lavatory was a problem for some.
The sangria and Paella are fabulous! So much great seafood on the menu, perfectly prepared. Absolutley loved this place. Service was outstanding!!!
Great food and service! Our second time there and we will be back!
Food was good. Disappointed with dessert, barely touched it, communicated to waiter but he charged us anyway.
