A true find! Ortzi replicates our experiences dining in Spain: inventive cuisine, attentive service, excellent wines -- all at a good value and totally unpretentious. We enjoyed chorizo in cider, unbelievably delicious potatoes, and ham croquettes that were light yet flavorful. The amuse bouche of butternut squash soup was so flavorful. All the wait staff are to be congratulated. There whenever we needed them. If you're in the Times Square area, this is perfect for a light meal or a full one.
My mother, wife and I attended for lunch. We made contact with Arlene, the hostess who was very friendly. I mentioned that we were from Philadelphia and were big fans of Garces. When we were seated, we received a complimentary glass of champagne as well as an extra tapas. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. We chose the San Sebastian menu. The branzino and lentil soup was delicious. We spent a lot of money for lunch, but it was well worth it. You can do it cheaper there and still be satisfied. We were all very happy and impressed as we left for the theater.
Great value for our money
It was a Thanksgiving dinner and it was delicious.
Yes but! No big taste but still very good food. The service was perfect!!! The wines are far too expensive.
Excellent tasting menu...
A lovely surprise for dinner in the theater district. In the hotel Luma, a delightful Spanish restaurant with tapas, a variety of paellas. Generally attentive gracious service although our paella was brought to us before we were near finishing our appetizer. Prefer a little time in between courses. Served a sweet amuse-bouche of a cheese puff and then an absolutely delicious potato soup compliments of the chef - how generous! Ordered the special appetizer of butternut squash with pumpkin seeds and other crunches - ate the whole yummy thing. The seafood paella had both soft and crunchy rice and fresh clams, shrimp, squid, etc. Excellent. So glad to know Ortzi is there when in the neighborhood. Also looked like a lovely bar to meet a friend for a drink.
Overall best meal I can remember ever having. Everything was perfect! The sweet potato soup was most memorable. Definitely have at least one glass of the Sangria- delicioso!
The food is excellent! I even ordered a take out for my husband!
We loved everything about it!!!! The food, the service, the drinks!!! Thank you!!
Excited to discover this delicious restaurant with top service.
Excellent food, unhelpful sommelier if you wanted a glass of wine as compared to a bottle. All other wait staff were friendly
Place is small. Menu is limited. Service and food was excellent Not much of a dessert menu. Price was what is expected in NY City.
The ambiance is excellent the staff is upbeat and sweet. Rafael Perez the Service Manager is outstanding
host, warm sincere wants to make your experience a great while dinning at Ortzi the food is superb.
Due to my recommendation, the Partners of my firm chose Ortzi for the Christmas Party which will be Wednesday, December 18th at 6 pm the name of the firm is Ascendhire.
Our waitress was superb
Portions on main course a touch small but delish
nice place - hotel restaurant - food was fresh and pretty good - our server was extremely friendly. all in a good time
Great place for lunch midtown. Food very tasty.
The meal was fantastic. Service was excellent, a lovely evening.
Been here several times whilst staying in Lima Hotel on a long weekend to NY. I’m gluten and dairy intolerant and the waiters are knowledgeable about how to adapt meals to be safe. All the food we have had has been truly delicious . The paella is AMAZING, the best ever, but it’s a share size . Well done to all. Keep up the good work.
The restaurant is well located and decorated.
There's a kid's menu, which helped in our case.
The menu was ok and the food was good. The paella wasn't great, but the octopus was very good. The "lechugas" (salad) was delicious. The chef sends a few bites to taste that were good. Nice experience, nothing extraordinary.
Would go back gladly.
My friends and I went to Ortzi last Friday evening (11/1) to celebrate a birthday and I have to say that the service, the food and the ambiance were all 5 Star! I called ahead to let them know about the special occasion and they offered a party package that included balloons, a polaroid camera and film and a bottle of Cava for the table. It was set up so pretty and my friend was so happy. The food (tapas) were amazing and the service was wonderful! They also have happy hour at the bar which is difficult to find in the area. I will most certainly be back with my friends!
Wonderful place, with great service. Good for a night out with someone special.
The food was very mediocre and the ham was italian and definitely not serano as portrayed
Terrific venue. Outstanding service. Food was amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great meal. Three of us shared 6 plates. All were quite good. Portion sizes were modest. Nice wine choices on the menu as well. Only criticism was they served the food too fast - our wine hadn’t even been brought to the table and two of our plates arrived.
We all did the tasting menu at Ortzi and it was fabulous! Great selection off the menu and definitely more food than we expected - you will not be hungry afterwards. They have some of the classic tapas you'd expect - albondigas, tartare, mushrooms. Even if some dishes were expected, they did a great job of making them their own
I have dined at Village Whiskey in Philly a few times and LOVED it, but unfortunately, was disappointed in our experience at Ortiz. The hostess was very kind and friendly as were the other servers. The food, however, was not up to standards. My husband's omelette was very small. (Perhaps only 2 eggs, instead of the expected 3?) I ordered eggs over medium, but they were barely over easy with runny whites. (I did not send them back because we had waited a while and I needed to eat. ) After the meal we asked for the restroom, were sent down a small, thin staircase to the basement where it smelled of dead fish and the restrooms were filthy with no paper towels. (Side note: this is in a hotel so perhaps the maintenance of the restrooms are on the hotel, but.......)
It is Basque perfection, we enjoy it more every time we dine there
Amazing food and wonderful attentive service. Can’t speak highly enough of this wonderful restaurant.
We had some cocktails and small plates in the lounge, which had good selection of cocktails, wine, a couple of beers and food as well as really nice service. Despite having a relatively full Lounge, we have no delays and service and our food came really quickly. They also have a pre theater dinner menu as well as post theater option. And they have happy hour until 7. Definitely recommend trying this place out before or after a show
Food was fine and worth tasting. Cider was in fact very overpriced "apple vinegar". Units of measurement confusing 1/4 or 1/2 of bottle, but looks bottle was small itself - 1/2L?
We ordered the Tasting Menu and what a wonderful choice. Many many plates of incredible food. My husband and & I had spent 15 summers in Spain, and wanted our friends to taste good Spanish food. This was superb. Our waiter even had the chef accommodate my friend who couldn’t eat shellfish. You must dine here.
The staff went above and beyond for a birthday celebration! We had an amazing time and dinner was absolutely delicious. Thank you.
As usual, Chef Garces does not fail to create a menu that is filled with unique and thoughtful combinations that bring big flavor, a myriad of textures and balance all combined into beautifully presented plate after plate. The drinks did not disappoint either and the staff were all well trained and welcoming. This is a new favorite place
Fantastic ambiance, service and food. Highly recommend the chicken paella. It was spectacular!!
I always love the ambience here; prices are super reasonable and you get what you paid for-the food is good quality; also the service is top notch; they’re always asking you if everything is good but not to the point where they come to your table all the time; one day of my favorite go-to places;
Excellent service and great food
