Ortega's A Mexican Bistro Ratings and Reviews
It was totally disappointing compared to our previous visit several years ago. We thought we'd return for lobster dinner as we had enjoyed in the past. It was not busy as there were maybe four couples in the dining room. It took over 25 minutes before our drinks were served and over 40 mi utes before our lobsters were served. The lobsters were under cooked making cutting. It with the dull flat ware knife a workout. When lobsters are cooked, the shell should be red/orange. These shells were primarily brown. Waitress asked she could get something else. I asked for a glass of water. It never came. Two lobster dinners, 1 ice tea, 1 cocktail...$98. Not bad if the food was done and if service was good. Had neither. Manager advised of our experience.
Been here quite a few times over the years. Prices have seemed to have gone up, and they were kind of high before. Food is good but not good enough in relation to the price. Had the carne asada burrito and the beef was overcooked. My husband had the chicken enchilada thing and the chicken was mediocre at best. Margarita was weak, and I'm a light-weight. Waiter was good though.
Took my parents here for dinner last night. The restaurant had relatively high reviews so we were excited. We had reservations yet 5 people walked by saying someone would be with us shortly yet it was 10 minutes. It smelled like a fishing dock inside, which was very off putting. I wasn’t impressed by the food, service or ambiance. Needless to say, we won’t be back.
My wife and I took our kids here for a family meal because my son was visiting from out of state. This is a great place to relax and enjoy some truly authentic home made Mexican food. From the first bite you can tell everything is freshly made and that includes the chips and the hand made guacamole. The server will prepare the guacamole right at your table, and man is it good. I highly recommend this place and will go back soon.
We're visiting from LA... wanted Lobster but we went to the Lycium Theater so we had 9:30 res on a Sunday... the place looked like it was closed... but they were WONDERFUL!!! Very nice and so understanding... we had the lobster feast!!! YUMMMMMMMM EEEEEEEE it was totally what we wanted and was grateful that they didn't make us feel like we were putting them out at all.. completely opposite!!! Nice staff
So "thank you guys"!!! It made us Huge huge HUGE!!! Fans
Came here to catch up with someone I hadn't seen in many many years, so I wanted a reasonably quiet place for conversation. Came earlier than our reservations and sat at a bar table and took advantage of happy hour. Food was great., Margaritas were made with fresh lime, and the service was good as well. The corner of the bar was quiet enough on a Saturday 5-8 that we could easily hear each other, and we decided to stay here for dinner rather than switch to the main dining room. This isn't my first time here. I have been fro weekend brunch, dinner, as well as happy hour. I will definitely come back again.
Oh my, this was our first time at Ortega's and we had the steak and lobster. It comes with the best tortilla soup ever! And the salsa! What can I say, it was so good we wanted to bring some home. The lobster was prepared Puerto Nuevo style and was really good. The steak was perfectly cooked and tasty.
The waiter was nicely friendly but not intrusive. I could go back there every week - it's that good.
The fact we were able to get the steak and lobster special and the mimosa special on a holiday was very impressive. We feasted like a king and queen, drank lots of champagne and even had dessert all for $75.00!! (before tip). Very good food and value for the money. My Dad was complaining about the parking lot view but in the end he had a great time and was very pleased with his meal and service. Thank you!
