We came here for our anniversary dinner and were very disappointed. The service is excellent but that's about all that was great. Our steaks were extremely undercooked and one of them was tough and chewy. Our brocolini was barely even cooked. The appetizers were good but really just 2 small bites. For a fine dining restaurant we really expected the food to be top notch. We provided feedback and the server and manager removed the additional charge for the meat which was appreciated. However, we ended up paying 68 dollars per person for the tiniest appetizer, subpar mashed potatoes, cauliflower and hard brocolini and ice cream for dessert. (We also thought it was strange that the hostess was the only person not required to wear a mask). If you are looking for a nice meal I'd probably avoid this restaurant and try some of the other places in town.
Food was excellent. Flavorful and tasty. Wine very expensive.
The food was excellent and the service was an excellent balance of professionalism and friendliness and well the view was outstanding
The food is amazing. excellent service and the ambiance is perfect for families. I love the place. We will definitely come back to this restaurant.
When we visited, Orso Trattoria was offering a fixed 3 course menu. We felt very safe while visiting in these COVID-19 times, and the service was excellent. Lovely view of the mountains and lake at the JPL.
Tim, our server, was putstanding and able to answer all of our questions. Great service, great food, great location and a wonderful dining experience.
The menu is somewhat limited now compared to normal during these Covid times. Excellent level of safety precautions being taken. They prepare the best steaks you will ever eat! First class service in a dining room that offers a full view of Lac Beauvert and the surrounding mountain range. Definitely planning a return trip.
Carley was amazing! She made our two nights here so special. We didn’t feel worried about COVID and just enjoyed the service, food, wine and view. I would come back in a heartbeat.
We had a very good experience at Orso. Seated promptly and given a view table as requested. View and ambiance was great. Service was pleasant and professional. We weren't rushed but didn't feel ignored. My elk was delicious and while my wife's ribeye was tasty, it was too fatty, even for a ribeye. Sides were excellent. We felt it was good value for the price.
Fantastic food in a beautiful setting with top-notch service.
Excellent Prix fixe menu. Delicious food. Good wines. Knowledgeable and efficient service.
Service was okay. Food was poor to okay. Makes overall value for the high price very poor. Not sure if COVID has anything to do with it. Friends of ours had same overall experience the day before.
There are few places as picturesque as the Jasper Park Lodge. Orso is their fine dining room at the resort. The setting is a pretty room with huge windows looking out over Lac Beauvert. During COVID the restaurant was offering a 3 course menu for $68 with surcharges for the more meat centric dishes. We tried the bison tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto, the boar chops and a spaghetti with beef short rib. The food was yummy- not exciting or innovative, but tasty and the meat of the highest quality and perfectly cooked. Dessert was 2 choices - something involving Grand Marnier and chocolate cake - yum! and a rhubarb and raspberry sorbet - also yum and beautifully presented. The service was warm and friendly but lacking in professionalism and precision - we were given enough olive oil and balsamic in our little dipping dishes to start our own retail outlet and some was spilled sloppily on the table cloth. The waiter relied on us to pass him dishes rather than making the journey all the way around the table. A little too casual for their best dining. I know that COVID is making everything more challenging but I would have liked to see a little more imagination on the menu. Our starter was a glorified breaded and deep fried meat pie (beef, pees and mashed potatoes). With a bolder, tangier sauce to accompany it - may be. But I thought it lacked sophistication. The lamb ravioli was a nobler attempt. With just a little more effort this could be an amazing culinary destination for people traveling Jasper National Park.
Amazing food and service. Sat on the patio, the sun was unbearable - they should add umbrellas to the tables.
Very good food, but a bit expensive. Nice wine selections.
We were staying at the Jasper Park Lodge so lovely to walk to dinner. Setting is simply stunning - all tables have a good view. Window/patio tables would be amazing. Food was very nice - good portions but not overwhelming. Prix fixe heavy on seafood that night but that was fine for us. Waiter was terrific. All sanitary measures for Covid covered. Would certainly recommend although wine prices a tad high.
A great place to celebrate ones anniversary
Great local restaurant in Jasper. Excellent food and great service from Catherine. Highly recommend.
Very good food and very nice staff.
Typically a great meal, but this one time the food was so salty.
Fantastic! Top notch food, exemplary service, and attention to health rules makes for a marvelous experience. Thanks!
Outstanding service and food.
Food very expensive for what it is. Very surprised, because usually Fairmont’s restaurants are very good.
The food was delicious but the service was lacking. We waited for at least 10min before our server greeted us, and again after dinner to have someone clear our plates. We ended up paying our bill and leaving before someone cleared our dinner plates. We watched tables around us receive attentive service. I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a good experience.
Just open for 2 days after closing for Covid 19. Had fixed menu but good choices. With all the physical distancing, masks and hand sanitizer we felt safe, relaxed and the atmosphere was fairly quiet. The bison was perfectly done and the dessert ice cream was flavourful. Great wine selection made for a memorable night
Great food and drinks, service was excellent, great scenery, pricey though
Excellent Food, nice quiet atmosphere, good service. Also have a Kids menu. Excellent Fairmont experience!
The food was just ok. Wasn’t at all happy with the Calamari. The service was ok. For a restaurant of this caliber and price I’d expect more. It’s more of a curiosity because of its location and perceived stature. I wouldn’t return for a second go around.
Excellent service and delicious food.
I think it was because they were closing the next day, but the service was way below what I expect. Long waits, lack of coordination, forgotten items. I would have liked the rolls and drinks with my appetizer and my coffee with my desert. Sadly none of this happened. The food, however was very good.
Just a weird experience. Was told they didn’t take reservations through open table by the hostess. Then we were told they were very busy so she’d take a name for the waitlist (table for 2). Waited only 5 Minutes before we were seated in a restaurant that was maybe 50% occupied but with what looked like a full cohort of staff...
We were undecided on buffet or al la carte so took a walk past the buffet — we passed on it as it looked like the food had been sitting for a while (skin on the hollandaise on the eggs benny and the beans, wilted garnishes, dried out looking bacon). Not very appetizing.
We ordered the blueberry pancakes and eggs Benedict from the menu. They were fine, nothing great or above my expectations. The orange juice was nice, as was the carafe of coffee for our table. Service was also fine.
Overall the experience was fine. Just. Fine. For coffee, OJ and 2 a la carte items it was about $60 which for a Fairmont hotel breakfast is normal I guess. I just didn’t leave there with any desire to return, nor was it memorable beyond the weird “we don’t take reservations through open table” situation at the beginning.
The menu was very odd and noticed others cancelled their reservations due to menu options. The menu choices were not appealing to our taste.
Excellent view, cozy, terrific service! Very accommodating.
We had a lovely dinner here. The service was great, the lobster pasta was fantastic and the view is beyond perfect.
The location is beautiful, the restaurant is overpriced for the quality of food, and the service is adequate; thus, the restaurant is pretentious. That said, it is difficult to have a bad experience in such a gorgeous place.
The butternut squash ravioli was yummy! Great service!
The restaurant had outstanding ambience, views and service. Truly first class. The waiter was very personable and friendly....and did I mention the view of Lac Beauvert is stunning? The food is Italian...very good. Not an extensive menu, but that’s fine by me. As one would expect at the Jasper Park Lodge.....it’s not inexpensive.
Pasta dishes did not taste good. I could have made better at home. The dessert, Manicotti, was terrible! I told manager. I think the main ingredient was left out. It tasted like pure sweet jellotin.
