The restaurant is always good but service tends to be slow. It took quite a while for our server to come back between getting our drinks and taking our order. And then when our meal was cleared it was a very long time before he came to ask if we wanted dessert or coffee.
Always a pleasure to dine here. Steak tartare is amazing!
Excellent all around
Great local French bistro!
As always, the food was great and so was the ambiance. The service was good. Lots of action here at lunch, and the people were very well-dressed and polite. Always a great choice!
What a lovely lunch. The burger was grass-fed and the bun made in house. I’m picky about details and was very impressed with the friendly service and menu choices.
It was a special occasion, we were meeting our future son-in-law’s family for the first time. Had a reservation for 7 people at 7pm; everyone was on time. At 8:30 I was asking when we would get our entree. It came 15 minutes later along with a very tepid apology. When my wife talked to the maitre’d he shrugged and told her a lot of people showed up at the same time
The room had to be 80 degrees.
Our bill with tip was closing in on a thousand dollars but we were treated like tourists.
We have been going Orsay for years, never going back.
We ordered steak au poivre medium rare and it came well done, we sent it back and the next steak came back blue. After that we ordered the cheeseburger medium, but that also came back well done.
This should be a slam dunk steak au poivre, I was stunned that they couldn't get it right.
Excellent as always! Thank you!!
A pleasant evening out with friends. The food was good and the staff were wonderful.
it is our neighborhood club, and we love it... they have been wonderful during this whole year
The service was spotty and rude. The soft shell crabs were so over breaded and over fried.
Orsay is a little bit of authentic Paris in Manhattan, our favorite French bistro. My only complaint: a new notice on the table warning parties of two not to linger more than one hour. We didn't---but the thought of being rushed in a Parisian restaurant is beyond the pale. (One hour at a table is de rigueur; anything shorter is fast food.) I hope they get rid of this policy.
Excellent food and service with a lovely ambiance!
reliably good. great outdoor space. a little pricey for what you get but a favorite
Great Service, perfect bistro food - the best mussels I have had in years - perfectly cooked.
Always a great experience at Orsay! 🥂
My brother and I took my parents here for an early surprise celebration of their 50th Wedding Anniversary, knowing with Covid, we can’t have a big to-do. But we wanted to mark the occasion for them in some way. From the beginning, the staff at Orsay was so helpful making sure on this (strangely cold) late May evening, that we had a warm spot. All light long we were well-attended by our server Max and then the restaurant surprised us all with candles on dessert for my parents and a round of champagne. Just a very classy move and added to the overall experience of delicious food, great ambience and classy service. Will be back for sure. Thank you!
I live nearby, and Orsay has long been one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. I came for dinner with two out of town guests, and we all were very impressed. The atmosphere is one of a Paris brasserie that has been around since the Belle Epoque, which is particularly great now, as we can't go to Paris in person. The menu is perfect for the place, and the food is delicious (the foie gras, the tuna tartare, the onion soup and the burger are particularly recommended). The service was friendly and attentive.
Lousy table rushed service indifferent staff
Luis and the rest of the staff at Orsay took great care of me and my friend, Christina. We started with oysters and the burrata appetizers, both fantastic! Rose champagne for that course. For dinner, I had the moules frite and omg that kefir lime sauce is out of this world. I was even dipping the fries in it. Christina had the salmon and said it was perfectly cooked and she loved the mustard sauce. We had a lovely bottle of Sancerre with our mains. We split the strawberry pistachio tart for dessert and it was the perfect end to a lovely meal. I look forward to returning soon
While dining at Orsay is a bit costly, it is always a wonderful experience. The food and drink are truly delicious and the atmosphere makes you feel like you are in Paris.
The staff at Orsay is excellent !! Friendly, professional and courteous
The ambience is beautiful and the food great !!
We had a wonderful time !!
We enjoyed our food although we miss the Sunday roast beef special and wish they would bring it back. Only disappointment was service not being up to the professionalism of prior visits- had to ask for refills of water, no plate brought for shells from a mussels dish until we asked and more along those lines.
This luncheon was for my family and was the first time since the pandemic that we had a meal in NYC. Perfect spot for it. The patios were open but, divided by plexiglas. We are all fully vacinated and felt very comfortable. Lovely food, great service and Orsay will remain on our list of favorites.
Disappointing visit to Orsay last night. Service was rude and we felt rushed. The onion soup was not warm enough, and the steak au poivre, always a favorite, was very disappointing. The meat was very hard, and not cooked as requested. We were sitting outside, and it was a very warm night, to the point it was uncomfortable.
Overall, not as expected for the price and type of restaurant.
Excellent food, attentive, and courteous service.
Why, at 5 PM with the restaurant pretty empty, the maitre d' felt he had to seat us next to a crowded large table of adults in baseball caps and noisy children was beyond comprehension,. When we asked for a different table he moved us two tables further away as a sort of concession Orsay has good food and ambiance but an attitude problem.
Our latest visit to Orsay was very disappointing…we’ve gone here for years and only had great experiences up until today. It was always an expensive treat, but worth it! The menu was reduced which was fine, but the meal was so disappointing. I ordered the mussels which took almost an hour to arrive and we’re over cooked to the point of disintegration-and were very fishy. The service was a little disappointing for the amount of the bill, but overall, it was just kind of a let down for the total amount and the high regard that we hold this place to based on past experiences. Sadly, this will be our last time at Orsay.
food was just okay, but for the price it was it should have been excellent.
Service was not up to par.
The staff seems quite overworked and stressed and rude to customers.
Very good three hour luncheon with my friend. Tiny portions of good food. Excellent wine. Professional, if perfunctory, service. Would I go back? Yes!
In our neighborhood we could not survive without Orsay! It has become our welcoming family club!
With hints of Paris which we miss so much.
have been enjoying Orsay for years..great food..great value
My friend and I dined outdoors. I’ve eaten at orsay many times but it was his first time. Rushed and rude service. We were looking forward to a relaxed meal especially with Covid shutdown and as my friend said he felt “ stressed”. I did too.
Had a nice brunch there Sunday. Shared chicken liver pâté and had the crust less quiche. Overall it’s was good,
Celebrating a delicious taste and touch of Paris! Highly recommend!!
Orsay is usually one of my faves but this last time fell a bit short on the food front. They seemed to be a bit overwhelmed during lunch and that may have contributed to it.
Outdoor seating area is appealing, but Orsay seems to have raised their prices and altered their lunch menu so there are limited options for anyone not wanting to spend at least $30 for small portions of mediocre food. On top of that, surly waitress messed up order. Would not return.
