i go to orsay very often and always enjoy it. this time I ordered the plat du jour of roast beef and i was sharing it as it is a large portion. i asked the waiter to give us a bone... he ignored us and sliced the meat very thinly without a bone.. my partner then asked the maitre d about it and he listened and never came back to the table...
Really good food and service, but too expensive for a French bistro.
Excellent as always
Food is excellent, but expensive. The Steak Frites is a better value than the Steak au Poivre. No reasonably priced wines, but beer is a good option.
Authentic piece of Paris in NYC. Excellent brunch options - Eggs Benedict and the Prime rib served Table side with lashings of horseradish sauce is why we go back often!
Lively and not too noisy. Service was good. Food was not too good.
From the time we arrived until we left, we were well looked after. The service was amazing. The same is true of the meal....amazing. It was a very pleasant experience!
The waiter was fine, but the rest of the staff was unprofessional. The noise lever was dreadful. I couldn't hear my dinner companions because of noisy table to every side.
Food was very good, but as is all too usual these days, the service was overly intrusive. Sometimes, less is more.
Traditional upper eastside atmosphere. Food was excellent.
Been going to Orssy for 20 years. Live everything about it. You will never be disappointed.
Great place, very helping people, staff very caring, and all meals were delicious. It was Wonderful
The food and service were impeccable. I highly recommend this elegant restaurant for a fine dining experience or for special occasions.
Orsay always provides a beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and exceptionally professional service.
The food and atmosphere were really lovely, albeit a little pricey for the portion sizes, and the service was good - attentive but not intrusive - albeit confusing (greeted by at least 2 people before being seated; a 2nd server asked if we would like to order drinks after we had already ordered drinks from our main server). The Eggs Norwegian melts in your mouth - eggs perfectly poached, freshest salad dressed with a gorgeous vinaigrette, and just right potatoes - divine! The hollandaise sauce is light as a feather. A very nice place to splurge on a special occasion meal.
Enjoyed the meal very much. Food was very good. Waitress was very friendly and very knowledgeable . Enjoyable bistro experience.
Fabulous food from soup through coffee and dessert. Lamb shank/saffron risotto - delicious! Coq au vin - not a bit left. Excellent wine, service. We will be back!
We have been to Orsay several times. We always enjoy it. The food and service is good and the atmosphere transports you right to Paris.
The food was good but insanely over priced. We paid $52 for the Dover sole in capers and brown butter. We justified the price thinking it would Paris level- with a full fish then filleted... it was just one single fillet, a bit over cooked and with three measly fingerling potatoes... for 52 dollars?? Sure, it tasted good, so did the coq au vin- but just insanely over priced. You can get that level of food if not better for a fraction of the price at dozens of other NYC French bistros. I think this place is a bit of a tourist trap honestly. We also were constantly fighting for our servers attention and had to ask for bread THREE times.... and the restaurant wasnt even packed! I had high hopes but was very disappointed. Wouldn’t go here again.
The dover sole is outstanding. Enjoyed our dinner very much.
The food was ok for the price, but not great.
Good ambiance and service, but food is pretty flat and overpriced for what it is. Mediocre brasserie.
The food was divine! We had raw bar to start and it was delectable. I think the restaurant is a little tired and needs some renovations or even just a "sprucing up." I have been going there for years. The wait staff was attentive but I had to call him over a couple of times and they forgot a couple of items we ordered. But overall the experience was very good.
It was a nice experience. The service was very good and the food was delicious.
The Skate Cake appetizer was phenomenal. I never thought of it, but it makes perfect sense.
Service was knowledgeable & helpful.
Maravillosa atención. Los platos son un homenaje a Paris. Están en perfecto equilibrio entre la presentación el tiempo de entrega de cada plato y los ingredientes genuinos. La ambientación histórica y limpieza otro valor a destacar.
Orsay is a fantastic restaurant. A wonderful value with excellent food all the time.
They make you feel special.
I had not been to Orsay in a while. We have held Christening parties and rehearsal dinners here, so I was really looking forward to Sunday lunch with my daughter and 12 year old grandson. It was a grey day so we elected to sit on the enclosed terrace. Due to fear of cold there were very obnoxious heaters blowing dry air in our faces. My daughter finally got them to turn off the one blowing on our table. We were told we would be cold. We were not and it was much better. I ordered the Croque Monsieur. It as on a thick slab of bread. Terrible. My grandson ordered waffles which turned out to be one waffle which appeared to have come from a box of frozen waffles. Daughter had Poulet Payard followed by Mousse au Chocolat which was as we remembered. Excellent espresso happy to say. Service was very good to excellent. Prices over the top, especially for what we had which was not special.
The food is very good. We had the steak tartare, croque monsieur, and fries. Dessert was creme brulee, which had a citrus flavor, and chocolate mousse w creme anglaise. Authentic, rich french food. Our waitress was cold, aloof, snobby, unfriendly and laconic. It's expensive, but I didn't expect any different. We sat on the patio and people watched
Delicious French selections. Attentive staff. Always reliable neighborhood favorite
Reserved in advance for dinner party, seated at the bar side... no table cloth, loud and busy traffic! Not so nice for a birthday celebration. Service was friendly. Overall very casual feel. Food was okay. $60-$70 bottle wine was terrible.
Had better experience for brunch in the main dining room.
My girlfriend and I were seated last even though we arrived first in line. We thought the host was very disorganized. The restaurant week meal was not too enjoyable but the waitress was sincere. Our dessert order was mixed up. We have been here before so we were disappointed by a sub-par experience.
Consistently very good
Orsay is a noisy bustling restaurant. At our request we sat in the windowed patio on the street. Much quieter and special place for conversation. Food is excellent.
Attentive, friendly, warm, welcoming ..... and delicious. The service is impeccable without hovering. Deferential yet friendly --- and authentic French food. Lovely ambiance.
Our experience was a positive and memorable one. The plat du jour that night was bouillabaisse and it did justice to the one I had in Marseille. Even though they were packed that night service didn't miss a beat. I look forward to going back again soon.
Very good food, but not excellent.
One of three dinners was totally incorrect, and the ordered one did not arrive until the other two finished eating.
No compensation offered for botched meal.
Uneven service - sometimes excellent, sometimes non-existent.
I will not eat there again!
Amazing staff — amazing food. The atmosphere made my girlfriends birthday that much more special!
Staff worked very hard to make us feel comfortable
Loved it! Great food! Great energy!
