Fabulous restaurant for a four person lunch meeting. Delicious!
pretty mediocre French brasserie. Too bad, since the menu is so appealing.
It would be nice if knowing that it is a birthday celebration, as it was stated in the reservation, the restaurant would have done a little something to acknowledge that.
Nice lunchoen dining outdoors enjoying the last days before it's too cold.
Typical french bistro, we felt just like in Paris !
Great food and loved the terrasse.
I had the steak, yummy.. the waiters were great.. an enjoyable evening.
They forgot my birthday 🎂
Charming French restaurant! A neighborhood gem! Good for special events!
Perfect place for lunch when you want to catch up with an old friend.
Always a good choice for a relaxing dinner. Service is excellent from the moment you walk in.
Excellent food and service
The restaurant was out of their special entree - Duck orange - by 8 pm. The Poulet Roti was obviously cooked hours ahead of time and reheated by microwave before serving. The chicken tasted reheated and tasteless. The Fries were excellent. The Restaurant cut back substantially on the size of their tuna tartare “Japonais” appetizer and did not even serve a cracker with it. They did not offer a second piece of bread or refill everyone’s water glass. The busboys grabbed plates and wine glasses (with wine remaining) before everyone was done. The check was brought without anyone asking for it. In the past we would rated Orsay 4 stars, but this experience fell way below expectations. A disappointment all around.
Special because I dined here when it was under another name . I lived in the neighborhood in the late 60ties. Orsay’s is now the new kid on the block (not that new) i Found it beautiful and charming. My husband and I had s wonderful dinner of baked Dorado fish and to die for Cauliflower . We started with the perfect martini and moved on to Onion soup ( superb) and the mushroom soup. We ended our evening with coffee... chocolate cake and ice cream. Besides the delicious dinner the manager and staff were so very friendly and welcoming. We have recently moved from California to Florida. We look forward to returning to NYC and Orsay’s more often!
Special of short ribs was tough and fatty. Unbeatable. Matre d gave me s hard time when I brought this to his attention
Orsay is fabulous, I love brunch on a Sunday when I visit NYC!
Cool, historic restaurant on the upper east side right on Lexington Avenue. Went to brunch here and was a great overall experience. Definitely try the homemade sausage!
Very good dinner. Service excellent and so is ambiance. Reminds me of the brasseries on Blvd St. Germaine. We shared superb jumbo shrimp, I had the roasted chicken and my wife had an excellent steak frites. Prepared perfectly. Shared the profiteroles for dessert. Paired with a nice Macon Villages. Highly recommended.
This place is just the perfect place for any occasion.
Service, food, vibe, managers and hostesses make this place special.
Usually LOVE Orsay. But all went wrong on this night. Made reservation a MONTH ahead for a special gathering of 8. Even stopped in prior to arrange best table location for that size party. When we arrived, they did not have a table ready. After waiting 15 min, we nudged them into setting another table because it was obvious our table wouldn’t be available for at least another hour. Once seated, the server was snarky and abrupt...and then mostly disappeared. It was even a struggle to get the bill. Roasted chicken for 2 guests was overdone and so dry. I was embarrassed bringing friends for this special evening. Expect more of my favorite place. Orsay let me down.
Love this place, great food and service as always.
I always come for their tuna tartar but their green salad was very bland
Service was excellent because they left us to talk long after we finished our meal
Good neighborhood bistro
Average. Service has gone downhill. Not locals more tourists.
We enjoyed it as always!
This is my second time and never get disappointed. Food is delicious 😋
Fantastic place for a family party! Everyone from ages 12 to 82 loved the food and the venue. Service was terrific. Thanks for a memorable evening.
the ambiance and the exquisite service cannot be ignored!!
it's french food, so extremely buttery.
but disappointed with the quality of the food - ordered traditional stuff
frisee salad with bacon and egg --> bacon cut too big, not so nicely cooked - soggy and chewy
escargot --> i think this is just the quality of the american snails - nothing beats the real thing from france
steak and fries --> meat too thick and not tender, fries were too oily and "old"
food was def not the highlight, but orsay will remain my go to for french brasserie ues.
My husband and I were entertaining a dear friend from Chicago. We had a delightful evening and delicious dinner. The service was solicitous without being annoying. We enjoyed the experience and look forward to returning.
We always enjoy Orsay, will be returning for their outstanding brunch on Sunday.
As always, a wonderful evening at Orsay— my favourite restaurant in Manhattan—
Great food and service
A rip off.
Third rate quality of food.
My shoes were more tender than my stack and my wife's fish was dry.
We payed a fortune for terrible food.
Service nice. Extremely noisy.
I was there over 10 years ago... now I know why...
LOVE this place!!! Coq a vin - absolutely amazing!!!
The waiter seemed edgy and false
Our order was wrong three times. Some of the food was cold by the time the rest of the food came. Everyone ate at a different time. Others around us were having the same problems.
The food was not good which is a disappointment because it was so good before
The brunch was fabulous. The Croque Madame was to die for
A disappointment and don't know that I can recommend. Got their early (6PM) and by the time we ordered they ran out of their nightly special (Dorade)!!!! I ordered halibut, which was overcooked and my friend ordered red snapper which showed up as a minuscule piece of fish on a bed of greens. An appetizer cheese plate had tasty cheeses but also small amounts of cheese for $23! Their menu is pretty but bloated with print listing all the ingredients of every dish but is quite limited in scope and very expensive for what you get. The service was semi-attentive (very quick to remove an empty wine glass and ask if you want another) but need to ask for bread or other items. Not sure it's still under original ownership when it was known as a fine place to dine on upper east side. Still seems to be very busy on a Friday night but, under the circumstances we found, not sure why.
Animated brasserie with consistently good food, nice atmosphere and good service.
So reminiscent of eating in Paris-food is really good, service is attentive, but it’s the atmosphere that makes this place special
