I know things are tough with COVID and having staff. We just did not get attention when we needed it.
Adrian one of the Matre d was very good.
They also need better AC inside
We have gone here many times over the years and are witnessing a steady decline in service and food. We made a reservation for outside seating, confirmed the day before, and when our friends arrived first, Maitre D insisted reservation had been made for inside and specific table. When I arrived- I asked them to check and he came back apologetic saying they made a mistake.
Appetizer of fried calamari were “soggy”, and very small portion. They used to serve great fries calamari. Main dish ordered was tuna tartare.and French fries Tuna tartare was brought with no toast or bread and no French fried. I had to ask for bread and it came with attitude- still no French fries. They finally brought French fries just as I finished my tuna. And the final straw was they were over so over salted, none of us could eat any.
When the bill cAme, I asked that we not be charged for the French fries as they came so late and were over salted. They Maine D said OK, took our credit cards, and when returned, the fries had not been deducted.
One of the worst dining experiences ever.
It was wonderful. The watermelon salad was light and delicious. The braised pork special was complex and flavorful. And the chocolate mouse at Orsay never disappoints.
The service and friendliness of the staff was amazing.
Thank you for a fabulous evening.
Love Orsay! Can always count on a great meal and experience.
food was wonderful, just what we hoped for. The service was awful, we had to ask for drinks, courses to be cleared and served. We were happy to leave
So so, nothing special, expected a better service and food quality
Love this restaurant. Always have a great experience. Food is outstanding!
Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. Fun to be in a vibrant environment. Very French and appealing. Thank you.
This is our favorite modern French restaurant in NY. Everything is excellent from food to service to ambiance. Love this restaurant.
Our sever was so nice . We were dining with our children and grandchildren and she was so accommodating. Everyone who works there is just lovely
Very expensive. Lamb was immersed in sauce not what menu stated. Best part was strawberry pistachio tart
Food and service was very poor!
Dining with a friend for an ordinary lunch. The ambiance is always charming and the service is always attentive! There’s a wide variety of food
from which to choose and I’m satisfied with what I’ve selected‼️
Very authentic bistro setting! Always pleased to return!
Food was meh
One of the real old-timers that has managed to keep up all the nice traditions! Duck confit and cold salmon ballontin were excellent, as were the escargots! Service was attentive but not overbearing. Prices have gone up but that’s to be expected.
Just loved it. First visit.
C’était super !
Lovely meal outside for my non vaxed companion. Wine selection lovely. Pate was divine. Joss Stone sighting a plus :)
Lunch was great. We could enjoy a wonderful meal and importantly talk and hear each other easily. Service was superb.
We had a wonderful meal and amazing service. Chef Michael is the best!
service was poor; and some prices were off the charts ( eg tequila $19 plus $4 for soda water ).
Delicious Food. Outside dining was perfect. Fun for birthday dinner.
Salty food. I came home and had to drink water the rest of the night. The escargot had a very salty parsley sauce. My bass was overcooked and the sautéed vegetables it sat on were overly salted. The decor is tired. My entree was brought out and my daughters was not at same time. I’d say who was cooking the food but it would be politically incorrect.
Classic French Bistro -- a perfect place to go for lunch after visiting the Frick on Madison. We ate inside since we were fully vaccinated from COVID. Yes, they check your vaccine cards so be prepared if you are from out of state.
Waiter took a long time to take a drink order, then the drink took a long time coming, making everyone wait. Service was generally slow. Staff otherwise friendly.
Scallops were undercooked. I like sashimi, but scallops are best when cooked through but not dry. These were way undercooked.
On the recommendation button, need a "maybe".
All good. Food, service, ambience. A very reliable place In uncertain times.
Chilled tomato and artichoke soup was amazing. Chocolate mousse and macaroons were excellent. A little pricey, but would go again.
Orsay was okay but disappointing because steak frites not on menu
An early Sunday evening family dinner with shared dishes and two people with allergy restrictions. A happy delicious meal enjoyed by all. Everyone liked everything - prosciutto and melon, foie gras torchon, roast chicken, filet mignon with pepper sauce, cold salmon, green beans, warm bread with lightly salted crust, raspberry sorbet. Fine wine list.
old world decor, attentive wait staff, delicious food expertly prepared. What more can you ask for?
Frankly, I was disappointed and feel Orsay has been majorly slipping lately. I have lived in the UES for 10 years and love French food having also spent meaningful time in Paris and NYC. I have frequented Orsay for a few years now considering its 5 block proximity to my apartment. The prosciutto melon is a "must avoid" and perhaps shame on me for ordering it. The prosciutto was crunchy and thick and I wanted to send it back. The seabass was "okay." The French onion soup had too much cheese, if that's even possible. The mussels were still quite good. The staff, while attentive, was pretty pushy at times. I just do not get that "better than the rest" experience at Orsay anymore, especially considering their prices hang with some Michelin experiences in NYC.
Had a lovely dinner with a friend at table #17 on a Wednesday evening during August. Great food with a great friend... What could be better? I wish the restaurant weren't so noisey, though. Hard to hear conversation. That's the downside of a successful restaurant in NYC, I guess. Nice to see NYC coming back!
Loved sitting outside there. Much better service than most restaurants today. Food is reliably excellent.
The food was not very good. The service was slow. The place looks nice though. Very noisy by 6:45 pm.
Great experience, food was excellent and service was lovely
Great, charming restaurant. One of our go to’s. Wish that the menu was a bit bigger. Ideal outdoor dining site.
We were a party of 3 women and we were seated an des
outdoor dining is lovely. service and food were impeccable.
We have to this restaurant many times over the years. When we arrived the host took us to an outdoor table. I asked if we can sit on the terrace but he all but ignored us.
The service was good though sketchy.
The food was very good.
Prices were as I expected.
I would go back again.
We reserved for 3 @ 1:30. 2 of us arrived 15 min. earlier to get a good table. Told waitress we wanted to wait 'til our friend arrived before ordering. Meanwhile, many other people arrived & she didn't check to see if our 3rd person arrived & took their orders first. I had to go to the front desk to request menus after our 3rd had 15 min. After we ordered, we waited 30 min. to get served. BTW, we went there for the $39 special for 3 courses. There were only 2 choices for both appetizers & entrees, which we didn't like, so we ordered from the main menus.
