About Orsa & Winston
Orsa & Winston is the third downtown restaurant from Chef-Owner Josef Centeno, of Bäco Mercat and Bar Amá. Featuring nightly-changing tasting menus, the restaurant incorporates sensibilities of both Italian and Japanese cuisines in an intimate 32-seat dining room and open kitchen. A "super-omakase" tasting menu of 20 courses is available with advance notice at our 4-seat chef's counter. Due to the small size of our restaurant, reservations are highly recommended.

What a wonderful experience! We dined at Orsa & Winston prior to attending the symphony at Disney Concert Hall. The food was delicious and inventive and the presentation was stunning. The chef prepares a tasting menu so there are no choices for the diner, other than the wine! My favorite dishes of the night were the first course - Hawaiian kanpachi with grapefruit, avocado, and smoked trout caviar and the fifth course - Duck breast with great northern beans, kale, and red kuri squash.
I look forward to dining at Orsa & Winston again!!
Very pretentious food for a very poor result. Who cares if artichoke come from Jerusalem, the yellowtail from Hawaii or that the grapes from your German wine are kept safe from bugs by chicken? At this level of price you expect great food and wine, not storytelling.
Sorry for our kind waiter who was doing his best to make it less painful.
Worst restaurant I have been over the last few years.
The pairings with the fixed menu were excellent. The fixed menu was unique and the courses and selections were fabulous. The service was courteous and each wine offering was explained along with the course presented.
My only issue was the furnishings and decor. The prices call for a better environment. The food and service overcome the price.
Along with the tasting menu, we had the wine pairing. I highly recommend it. They serve wines that you wouldn't normally order or necessarily pair with a meal and they were all so perfectly paired. We went for our 15th anniversary & we sat at the bar next to a couple that just celebrated their 50th. It was a great experience.
An outstanding and unexpected find. I had never been to the restaurant before, it looked interesting and I tried it. What a great surprise. The tasting menu was creative, innovative, well presented and simply delicious. The wine list is really interesting, lots of fascinating choices from lesser known regions we paired wines with the tasting menu, and the pairings were terrific. Service was superb, we sat at the chef's counter overlooking the kitchen (always interesting), ambiance was cool chic. It was a terrific experience, well worth a visit!
We've had some great meals here several times in the past. Pretty much every aspect of the meal this time was a minor disappointment. Given that we paid as much as we would at N/Naja (around $900 for four including wine pairing and supplements and tip), there is really no margin for mediocrity. it was particularly disappointing since we brought friends with high expectations. That said, the service as usual was great.
Simply spectacular. This chef is cooking his heart out. The food he turns out is masterful and nuanced. If you love food, no question that this restaurant should be on your list. This is very sophisticated food in a lovely low key environment with impeccable service. Along with a very interesting wine list. Top notch experience.
Overpriced for a small and unremarkable tasting menu. The final savory course was almost inedible - a tiny overcooked piece of lamb with bland polenta. The wine pairing was also really stingy - it felt like a wine tasting at a tasting room, not an actual pairing with a meal. On the upside the service was friendly and the space is small and intimate.
Me and my wife's favorite place. The hospitality is so excellent and thoughtful I almost thought I was in Japan.
Lucky for us, Chef Josef was in house the night we visited and the menu was a secret until the dish arrived at our table.
The spot prawn plate served to us was the single best thing I've eaten all year.
OandW is way underrated for its consistent culinary creativity and warmth of service.
Second time there and as delicious as ever. The waitstaff are always delightful (especially that French waiter - he's super charming and knowledgeable, he really rounds out the experience).
I don't love the mural, but the decor is hip and elegant. The wines are fantastic, dessert(s) were sublime.
Overall, a must for any foodie in LA.
I highly recommend the wine pairing experience, the chef is very god at picking wines that match the food. Unusual wines we wouldn't have known to choose on our own. Very creative dishes on the lighter side. The restaurant space itself needs to be upgraded to better match the high quality food served.
An amazing restaurant in many ways; quite possibly the best dinner food-wise I've ever eaten. Incredible base ingredients, magically and innovatively integrated, with each one dazzling to all the senses and dissolve-your-soul delicious. Eclectic and superbly chosen wines as well. Flawless, attentive, kind and friendly service. Perfection.
I've been to this restaurant a number of times and walk away each time surprised and happy. This place is fabulous. The food is delicious and unique and the service is fantastic. It's even affordable (for the quality). Two people was about $250 for a great meal with two drinks.
This was an Open Table fall back when we couldn't get seated at Bestia in time to make our theater curtain. What a discovery this was!! Welcome to FOODIE HEAVEN! Chef Josef Centeno makes the most amazing taste sensations for a six course prix fixe dinner (menu changes every 30 days). The friendly, knowledgeable wait staff is highly attentive to the 11 tables (very exclusive!) and explains every course with mouth watering descriptions. The portions are just right so you have room for the next and next. The in house created artisan bread melts in your mouth (get the olive oil for dipping).
