Orsa & Winston
Food is excellent but the waiting staff could be a little dismissive. Very brief introduction of the food.
Very good but the portions were tiny and I thought it was a bit overpriced.
Wonderful place for a special occasion. Great service, delicious food and presentation, and very romantic
The food was creative and excellent. The service was smooth and efficient. The surroundings were pleasant.
Great food. Small intimate restaurant with a great tasting menu. We did opt for the tasting menu with wine pairings. The wines are very geeky which was super fun, but they weren’t out of this world wines to our palate.
I used to put this restaurant up with the Michelin 3-stars I’ve been to—maybe not quite as elaborate but just as enjoyable and more sleek and relaxed. This last was materially less awesome than the many prior ones over the last 3 years, but was still very good. I hope this was a fluke and they aren’t just merely “very good,” but something felt more complacent and sort of unambitious about the food and it’s programming last night.
Really enjoyed lunch. Tried a few dishes and loved them all. The scallops were fantastic. The server was very helpful.
Orsa & Winston is one of the best brunch experiences in Los Angeles.
From the moment we entered, the staff was exceptional. We had the perfect amount of interplay between us.
Every single dish, including the snacks we ordered, was balanced, thoughtful, executed perfectly and fit into the overall journey of the meal.
At no point, did I say, or even think, "this is good, but..." Each dish showed the care and skill invested in it.
Do get the wine pairing. That alone was worth the educational experience.
Was very impressed with Orsa & Winston. The set menu was great and well paced and the matched wine was also excellent. The staff were attentive and the general ambiance was very relaxing. A really good choice for a date night or special occasion if the cost doesn’t put you off.
Testing menu is really delicious and definitely worth a try!
Most dishes were great but the dessert failed to impress and the added on pasta botarga was not great at all.
It was a birthday dinner, remarkable experience
Superb service. Excellent menu, my date was so impressed!
This is my third time at O&W. the first was for an extravagant 17 (or was it 20?) course tasting menu years ago, the second was for a weekday lunch, and this time I brought a girlfriend from SF to have a weekend brunch.
I love the delicate and refined execution of their menu - complex pairings with an elegant ease, at very affordable prices.
Will highly recommend O&W, and will definitely be returning. Thank you to the kind, happy, and knowledgeable staff for their grace and service.
Great bonus dessert!
The tasting menu along with the wine pairings is at the highest standards for L.A. dining -- which means world-class.
The service is excellent and the environment is nice and quiet. However, the food doesn’t meet my expectation. I tried the tasting menu, none of it really surprises me at all. The lamb is too savory with a bit of gamy flavor. Besides, For a tasting menu, the dessert is just a tart with berries which is quite disappointing.
Nice, casual, comfy dinner w the fam and great wines
Outstanding food. Loved the mushrooms, grain bowl with chicken, and souffle pancakes.
The menu O&W offers is very select based on tastes of Asia (Japan) and Italy. How these combinations of flavors were conceived is beyond me, but what a wonderful place to explore these combinations that enhance each other so unexpectedly.
My coworkers and I ate here for lunch recently. There were only a couple other people in the restaurant while we were there. The server seemed a little new so I'll cut him some slack. The 4 of us ordered mains and 3 came out at the same time with about a 5-7 minute wait for the 4th meal so we all waited to eat so as not to be rude. It seemed a bit strange that the dishes were not fired at the appropriate times to allow all of us to receive our food at once. The place wasn't busy and others were wrapping up their meals when we came in. The server also removed silverware without replacing for two of us so we had to request replacements. All in all, the food was quite good and the space is modern and beautiful. But the service could have been improved just a bit!
Fantastic food. Best beef tartare we had ever had.
the food and service was amazing, parking a breeze
Great food, ambience and the staff is professional and welcoming
Great food and excellent value esp during restaurant week - fresh ingredients and it was nice that they explained each dish prior to us digging into our dinner. They also give you the option to pair the meals with different glasses of wine. Would come back - was delish!
Food is creative and delicious. We normally bring our wines to restaurants, but not to this restaurant. The wine pairings are creative, well matched to the food, and an introduction to lesser known grapes from small producers. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable. The Michelin star is well deserved.
Good but not great for the price. The seafood porridge was a highlight but the rest didn’t really feel as elevated.
Incredible food, great service, the most amazing Bloody Mary I’ve ever had, everything was so beautifully presented, we had to take pictures and ask other tables what they ordered because each dish was more amazing than the next, loved it all!
An incredible value at $39, I opted for the DineLa menu. Gorgeous food -- every detail was beautiful. And as inventive as the food was, it was also delicious, proving you don't have to sacrifice flavor for beauty if you know what you're doing in the kitchen. Too many chefs are trying to prove how innovative they are by throwing esoteric ingredients together in an avant-garde design - but their food is ultimately not satisfying. Not at O&W. The chefs at Orsa & Winston really have all the bases covered. I will definitely be back.
Food was good, excellent service. Portions are decent..
Great food, great service, and great value. My only complaint, if I have to be picky, is that the restaurant is a bit small and feels somewhat crowded. But it is one of the best I've had.
We were late but were made very welcome. Excellent good value menu and wine pairings. Informed, polite and responsive service.
The decor and ambiance of the restaurant was nice and romantic. The food was great, the porridge definitely stood out. Would ideally come back to try the full course meal next time.
Porchetta alla Kakuni: First and foremost, the plating presentation is beautiful. Consisting of porchetta (slow simmered pork belly cooked in shoyu [soy sauce] and black sugar), ume koshihikari rice (short grained rice), shoyu egg, assorted vegetables and topped with sesame, strips of nori and edible flowers. As for the taste, it was delicious. A tiny pork rice bowl that packs a flavorful punch. The porchetta itself was succulent, meaty and didn't tasted greasy at all. However, I wished the pieces was a little bigger, especially, since this protein dish is the main star and namesake of the dish. Luckily, the shoyu egg came to the rescue. Turns out, I actually preferred the shoyu egg more than the porchetta. The soft-boiled egg was fantastic, especially, when breaking it apart and letting the yolk ooze all over the ume koshihikari rice and mixing it up together, yum! The assorted veggies (cauliflower, snap peas, daikon, yellow and green squashes) provided that healthy dose of greens to compliment the proteins. Topped with sesame and edible flowers to finalize the beautiful plating presentation. Would I get this dish again? For DineLA, yes. However, for a regular $19 dish, probably not because of the preview that I got with the porchetta size.
Sudachi Tart: A small dessert that also packs a powerful, sweet punch. The sudachi (lime juice) flavor was light and aromatic. The tart itself was sweet, creamy and melts-in-your-perfection. The crust on the bottom was nutty and crunchy (I detected chocolate and toffee). Topped with a generous dollop of light and fluffy whipped cream, little white chocolate balls and edible flowers, yum!
Here for a birthday and the food was fantastic. Service was impeccable as well.
An outstanding dining experience. Comfortable, intimate ambience. Inventive cuisine, fresh and utterly delicious. Go with the wine pairing!
Great food. Nice vibe. Friendly service.
Unique dishes impeccably prepared and gorgeously presented with a caring wait staff. Bravo!
