GreatValentine lunch! Food, drinks and service were great! Love the counter experience...
The meatballs were outstanding! Shrimp Scampi was worth the trip. And the chopped salad was very good. I would easily eat at Joe’s again.
Always love O.J.’s. One of my favorite classic SF restaurants.
I love this place...it never disappoints. I have been coming here for years with friend and family!
Oversized portions, but good food. Very noisy.
We Love this place. The food is always cooked to perfection and the service is top notch. We also love the nostalgic feeling we get from the place. Great Cocktails too!
Traditional Italian done consistently well. Professional service that can sometimes feel more hectic than personal. Noise levels that will challenge any decent conversation. Feels old school mafia, but works because of it.
Food was great, service prompt and we were seated promptly at our reservation time. Noise level was a little higher than I would have preferred but the quality and taste of the food more than made up for the noise level. We will definitely go again the next time we are in town.
Great place, great food. Have been many times and will be back.
I keep forgetting the name of the lovely woman who continues to take care of us over brunch. She was and has been impeccable in her recommendations, service, kindness and professionalism. Best place to brunch for me and the wifey and will continue to be back again and again! Thank you!
Loved heather!!!! She was amazing.
I love this restaurant and have been visiting every time I’m in town for business or pleasure often bringing others along. The food is excellent and usually the service is excellent, too.
This time I felt I was not looked after as in the past. I never got even a smile from my server. After I placed my order and he realized I was just in for a quick meal (I was alone) and not wanting an appetizer, extra sides I felt that he wasn’t really interested. My food came out quickly and was perfect but my server did not check up on me once until I was finished. No...”is everything ok?....do you need anything else?”, etc.
as usual the place was hopping, and I had to wait almost 30 minutes (from my booking time when I arrived) to be seated. I was a server years ago and I know good service and mediocre service which this was. Pity as it affected my dining experience. I even may have ordered a coffee and maybe even a dessert but not after the lack of attention.
I will continue coming back but after flawless service & attention over the years....I felt compelled to make a comment.
Beautiful place. The food was disappointing. Especially since these are Original Joe's classic dishes. The sole was overcooked at the ends. The Joe's Special was overly chopped so you couldn't distinguish the ingredients and it was tasteless. Our servers kept changing and they didn't refill the water once.
The food was amazing!!! Dessert was even better!!
We shared lasagna and it was just like my grandmothers!!! Love the fireplace in the bar area
Easy to get a reservation for that night and walking distance from our friend’s place. Food is consistent/good, but my dish - scallops and risotto (a special that night) was too salty for me.
Great old San Francisco restaurant with classic American-Italian food.
Always perfect! Hostess always acknowledges request for low noise table even on Super Bowl Sunday. Waitress outstanding. Food terrific ah the liver! Wonderful every time I go feels like Sunday Family Dinner!!!
Staff is great. Very attentive. The food was excellent. Would recommend.
We had a fantastic time as always, from being greeted by the super hostesses in front and our bartender Greg!
You’ll find all the bar staff pretty terrific!
Our meal was very tasty as always and Server Grace was absolutely wonderful and funny, thanks Grace for a Great dining experience!
We love original Jones’s because it is consistently delicious! Always fresh and nice selection of choices.
I've been two the Original Joe's before for appetizers and really liked the bar atmosphere. This time I went for dinner and decided to indulge myself with the chicken parm and a side of pasta...the chicken parm was first rate and the pasta was quite good...after the meal went back to the bar area where they feature one of the city's best bartenders. Worth a trip.
Wonderful classic supper club. My second time here and it was great again!
First class service. Great old SF vibe. Great food. No pretense.
Original Joe's is by far the best Italian restaurant anywhere! Not only is the food and service fantastic, it's a restaurant frequented by locals who enjoy the moment with one another --- we saw not one person on their devices.
Food is so good and service is great. We are a regular customer.
Been there 2 time both experiences bad food. Ok service
Solid, old-school restaurant when you want steaks, pasta and a good bar! I had dinner with a fraternity brother I have known for 30 years that we finally had schedules match!
Total disappointment! Was in the city for my birthday and was excited to go to O J's for dinner. Ordered Caesar Salad : 6 stalks of romaine that tasted old because it was! Rusty center on leaves! Arancini: sounds great on the menu but it was served barely warm and seemed to be missing the fontina in the middle. Antipasto: this was tasty! Ordered House Red wine that that needed 20 min to breath in order to drink. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive and over all service was good. I would never recommend this place to anyone as I felt the food was just a disaster.. especially for the $ they charge, I expected more. Should have gone to Tony's for pie across the street. Will not go back again.
Late lunch Saturday. Not too crowded. Our waiter Aaron was great. Really enjoyed the food. Best burger in sf. Chicken parm was really good too. Try the warm butter cake. Our only issue was packing the sign said $8 for lunch but we were charged $12. That's not a restaurant thing.
Was looking for a restaurant close to Beach Blanket Babylon. Was not familiar with Original Joe's but it had great reviews and was about two blocks from the theater. Decided to give it a try and so happy wife and I did. The food was great and the service was wonderful. Will definitely return.
We had a table close to the kitchen -which I love! Grace was amazing, the food delish and overall great evening!
Amazing! Everything was perfect
We went in for Italian food and ended up with the prime rib French dip and creamed spinach. OMG! Best food ever! Prime rib was perfectly tender. Everything was absolutely delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be back?
Fun bartenders. Waiter was not very attentive(not sure if it was because my date and I where younger than most dining). Food was delicious.
Food was amazing! I have been to San Fransisco numerous times and this is one of the best for Italian food. The only downfall was our waiter that night. Our drinks were always empty and he rarely came by. But that did not bother us because the food is outstanding!
Solid food, good drinks. Service is abrupt & our waiter was actually a little insulting. I'm glad we went once. Don't feel the need to return.
I had the Crab Louis which was terrific. The place was hopping on a Sunday afternoon. Great to be in old North Beach. I look forward to another visit.
I'd go back and I'd recommend to a friend. The old-school Italian restaurant ambiance combined with the straight ahead food rate a return. We ordered the Joe's Special and the beef ravioli. We added salt to our Joe's Special but that's a nit. The cocktails (house gin fizz and house mojito) were a tasty way to celebrate. The tiramisu for dessert was delicious. The only bump in the road was that our waitress was given multiple new tables just as we tried to pay our check and was slow to run our CC which mattered as we had tix to Beach Blanket Babylon. In the end we weren't late but we had to be proactive about our check. Until then the service was fine. FYI, it's a short walk to BBB and thus perfect for pre/post theater bite.
We have always had a great meal and great service at Original Joe's. The Sunday Brunch/lunch menu had several offerings from breakfast items(omelets, scrambles, benedicts) luncheon items such as sandwiches and salads. The Bloody Joe (bloody mary) is very tasty. I had the Espresso Martini that was excellent. We also ordered a plate of the Italian Donuts for the table (they have three choices: stuffed with raspberry preserves, nutella or cinnamon and sugar) We couldn't make up our mind so the waiter was nice enough to give us some of each. A great way to end our brunch! The coffee was excellent.
