We made reservations for this restaurant and open table confirmed via email and text. When we arrived, Orfano had been closed, and will not open until April. We had no indication that this was the case. Restaurant website also made no Indication of closure. PLEASE REMOVE THIS RESTAURANT FROM YOUR OPTIONS! Great disappointment as we had few options to go elsewhere once we arrived.
Made a reservation for my friend’s birthday. When I arrived I learned that the restaurant had closed a week ago! They just never let anyone know who had reservations? The person working there just said: “sorry, not my fault.” Very disappointed. I know it’s a tough time for restaurants but they should have notified people with reservations.
Great service- Covid prevention intact. Noise unavoidable due to traffic with outdoor seating.
We had a lovely time at Orfano. The lower scores for ambiance and noise of due to the fact that we ate outside and it was a windy night. The inside of the restaurant looked amazing and I can’t wait to go back in better times.
Considering the pandemic, we were so grateful to be out eating in a restaurant and Orfano did not disappoint!! Everything was perfect except maybe the martini cart! I imagine most martini drinkers do not want an 1/1 gin/vermouth mix. Everyone knows a bottle of Dolin is $10 so to use that much is just a cheap glass filler at $28/ drink. The chef can spin it however she likes but she’s not fooling anyone! I am always very specific with my request for very little vermouth and they did oblige with a 2/1 ratio. Martini aside, our server was fantastic, the Italian wines were fantastic and the food was beyond fantastic!! Everything was so tasty and served piping hot! The Italian sausage lasagna was a nice twist, the pasta was cooked perfectly and the salmon was crispy and amazing. Cannot wait to go back. Such a shame they will be hibernating for the winter.
Just another fantastic meal at Orfano. Everyone is so engaging and happy to have you there and the food is always the best! No need to head to the North End, especially when best Italian food is in the Fenway! Special thanks to Phil :)
The food was sensational. Our server was lovely and well informed. Table service was excellent. I am a stickler for large serving spoons being served with dishes that will be split. And, proper utensils were in place before the food arrived, so we did not have to ask, or wait. Orfano is one certainly one of the best restaurants in Boston.
I so wanted to like Orfano. The service was great, but the food was not. The lasagna was the size of a kit kat bar. The pasta in the bolognese was undercooked - not al dente, just under cooked. The chicken milanese was an enormous portion; however, it was encased in a hard crust for breading - like it was deep fried. The olive oil chocolate cake was very good. The ricotta pie was not - it was the size of a dole pineapple slice. With Covid, we give restaurants a lot of slack and tip well. However, we were very disappointed in the quality of the food, especially given the prices.
I grew up in a very Italian are and have had thousands of diners. This is one of the best Italian Food experiences period.
Great service. Great food.
Outside doesn't have much ambiance as you are on the street but that is the only negative. Food was FANTASTIC, and the service was amazing. Love orfano!
Moderate noise level as we were sitting outdoors but Mira was an incredible waitress! Will definitely be back for more Parmesan mousse and bolognese and will be requesting to be at Miras table !
Very impressed with wine by the glass options. Though only 3 reds, all options were fabulous
The service was excellent, really knowledgeable about wine. Wines by the glass were great. I thought the bolognese was very good but needed salt. Ceasar salad was different but really good.
Just another wonderful meal outside on Boylston Street. Everyone works so hard to make you feel special all with a magnificent Italian dinner…
Wanted to like Orfano. Perhaps COVID has impacted the experience. I found the pasta bland, the chicken parm too thick, and the vodka choices (3) surprisingly limited for a martini bar. The waiter twice ignored requests for simple things like red pepper.
Awesome service, great food! Sat outside and while it was chilly, the ambiance was still good. Definitely recommend!
Our food was good but nothing extraordinary (given the prices). The service was excellent. I had a good diner but I am not sure I will go back
Amazing food! Loved everything!!
Has lost it’s edge. Used to be much better. Choose elsewhere, until they (hopefully) improve...
Too bad. Sad to see.
Outstanding experience! Services was exceptional,Amanda, Charlie and Bartender who made the VIP Martini on the mobile cart. Food was delicious. I recommend the Mozzarella Stick, Not what you would ever expect. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. I highly recommend.
Everything w,as awesome! Unfortunately we had to dine outside near a busy street due to COVID protocols.. otherwise everything was perfect!
Looking forward to returning and dinning inside.
The reduction in stars, ambience, etc is covid based as we were compelled to dine outside. The staff did everything to make the best of a bad situation.
So overrated, shocked this place has as many good ratings as it does! Garlic bread was stale and hard to cut, Caesar salad tasted like dressing was from a can you’d get at the grocery store, and carbonara was in the thinnest blandest sauce with exactly 2 peas and 2 pieces of bacon. All at an insane price point!!! Waste of time and money.
Food and drinks were delicious
Couldn’t taste the food through all the salt.
The food was delicious! Our party of 4 split two appetizers: burrata and meatballs. The burrata salad was delicious and meatballs were served nice and hot with superb red sauce. For entrees, two in our party ordered the chicken milanese, one had chicken parm, and one had salmon. Everything was presented beautifully and nice and hot. I mention the food temp again because we were outside on a somewhat windy evening and although food can get cold quickly, the hot dishes that we ordered were obviously delivered to our table quickly! The chicken dishes were big and we ended up taking some home. Throughout our meal, servers and host were very attentive and our experience at Orfano was excellent!
I’m writing this review directly in Italian ... so there is no confusion about the Italian cuisine if this restaurant. Sorry very disappointed with Tiffany Faison. I am a great fan of sweet cheeks and tiger mama ... but this one.....
- SCORE LOW
- SCORE LOW
3 persons .... total for the dinner $180. ..... sorry never again! Good luck
Great service. We tried two kinds of pasta and both were delicious, portions were at the right amount and the quality of each dish was superb. Drinks were pretty great too! We had a chocolate cake too, and it was “super rico”!
Food was passable
Amazing as always - the chicken parm is decadently awesome! As was the garlic bread, the breadsticks and the meatballs - and don’t forget the cocktails!
I can’t believe that I live in Fenway and I haven’t been to this spot! The food was delicious and the service was quick and amazing! We got caesar salad as starter and it was so good! It wasn’t heavy with dressing and had the right amount of flavor! Then we had the lobster bucatini and omg ir was so good! If you go, you have to get this dish! We also had the salmon with tomatoes and olives and it was good too. We ended our meal with ricotta cheesecake and it was so delicious!!! I’m definitely coming to this spot again!
Went for a birthday during the times of COVID...outdoor service was fantastic and the food was spectacular... Tiffany Faison has once again outdone herself...chicken parm was fantastic!
My wife and I came to celebrate our anniversary, and left sorely disappointed, in almost every aspect. Starting with the service, and granted, it was outdoors on an unexpectedly cold July night, which I’ve taken into consideration, but there were 2 servers, 1 for each section of 6 tables, plus ancillary staff, all of whom tended to wait inside due to the cold weather, so they were rarely seen.
Next, food, completely let down by it. Getting back to the fact that it was surprisingly chilly and windy, all of the food was brought to the table room temperature at best, and coupled with the weather meant that it was ice cold in perhaps 70 seconds. Having said that, the Parmesan mousse and steak were both amazing, which is why I’m giving it 3 stars, but, the polenta, ice cold in seconds, the scampi, cold, and oddly bitter, and the mozzarella stick, again, cold, so no pull on the cheese when we cut into it.
Drinks...my favorite cocktail is a Negroni, and this was the worst Negroni I’ve ever had, tasting as if they borrowed some smoke from SweetCheeks and infused it, and my wife’s Tuxedo #2 was easily the most disgusting cocktail she’s ever had.
Look, I get it, I’ve worked in the industry for years and understand how things go wrong, and we’re in a crisis, the weather was bad, everyone’s frustrated, the servers are bored, blah blah blah, but not making sure the food was hot when it came off the pass? Just really sadly disappointed and we really wanted to like it
With much anticipation, our expectations regarding food were 100% met. Service left much to be desired; I would go as far to say it was shockingly bad. What makes it especially hard to digest is the seemingly better service being provided at other tables. The food-runner was the only resemblance of stellar service we had throughout our experience. It’s a shame such a wonderful meal could be ruined by inattentive and incompetent waitstaff.
I unfortunately was the victim of a racially motivated “Misunderstanding” about the table side martinis... my wife and I was never informed nor asked if interested. However the guests (Caucasian) beside us, next to us, and in back of us were... then to make things even more horrible than it already was after I highlighted the uncomfortably obvious “misunderstanding” the server then stated “we use a dry aged gin, not sure if you’re still interested” maybe he thought black guys only drink Hennessy. Non the less, left a nice tip even though I felt utterly disrespected, simply to not fill anymore stereotypes like black people do not tip well. Will never recommend nor attend this establishment again!!!
I was saddened to read your review. Every guest, regardless of gender identity, ability, ethnicity, creed or color deserves the best service possible. Regrettably, it seems we did not succeed for you and your wife. Your charges of “racially motivated” bias deserve to be fully examined. Your experience matters and getting it right matters. Though your post was anonymous, we would appreciate and value your input. Let’s talk. Help us learn and grow. Will you work with me? Tif
Great service! Love the Martini cart
Our first visit back to Orfano post Covid-closure. We sat outside, and while we missed the ambiance of sitting indoors, we felt comfortable and so happy to be there. As expected, the food was top notch. The service was kind and careful. Overall, an excellent experience.
This is one of the best restaurants in Boston. The steaks are fantastic and the lobster bucatini amazing. Service is super nice - we love Philip! The warm mozzarella is heavenly. Top it off with great wines and superb cocktails and you will have a wonderful evening.
This restaurant is fabulous! The food was outstanding, the service impeccable and the entire experience of dining there was perfect.
Lovely evening. Sommelier was quite helpful.
