I would not go back to Oregano again. Our server came across as though he was just going through the motions, and cold. Bread was brought to our table just before our meals were, and after sitting for a good 30 minutes or so at least. I ordered the blackened salmon with risotto. The salmon was decent, but nothing amazing. The risotto was under cooked, still crunchy and simply not palatable. When I brought this to the attention on the waiter, he simply said that he would let the chef know. There was no apology, no attempt at making it right, no word from the chef. Nothing.
Given the amazing historic building and vibrant location, the overall meal was a huge let down.

Nice atmosphere.

I got the Pistachio Crusted Chicken. For the price, I was really surprised by the small portions. I could have eaten it twice and been satisfied but not too full. It was delicious, but small, and the mashed potatoes and beans were cold on delivery. The pasta dishes I bought for two others in my party seemed like larger portions. The fourth person really loved their salad with salmon.

Oregano is a nice addition to the downtown Provo dining options. The food is good enough. Service is fine. Its a good place to take family and meet friends. Been there 3 times and nothing outstanding to really brag about, but no complaints either. It's an ok place to go,.

I enjoyed our experience at this restaurant. We were seated shortly after arrival even though it was New Years Eve and they were busy. I didn't care for the music but the food was very good, the server was pleasant and efficient. To our surprise we were given an additional meal to take home with us when we left, this significantly increased the value of the meal and let us experience some of the foods we had not yet tries. I agree with others who have commented on the bench seating. It sits so much higher than the chairs on the other side of the table that it was a little awkward. All in all, I would gladly return to dine here again.

I have been there several times and always enjoyed the food and ambience. The last visit I tried the eggplant parmesan and did not like it as well. The sweet potato fries and sauce are terrific. I loved that they let us talk after dinner without making us feel like we needed to move out for others to take our place. Food is overall delicious.

Food tasted good, not excellent. The price was way too high for the quality of the food. The table we were seated on was super wobbly and the ambiance was not very romantic. The music being played in the resteraunt was not conductive to a romantic evening. I got the Italian feast which included a take home cold portion. The noodles were dry and hard, needless to say, they got trashed as soon as we got home. I brought my wife for her birthday and was hoping for a romantic dinner, but all I ended up with was disappointment.

We come for the food, the ambiance, and to be personally greeted by Chef Chad Prichard.

This most recent dining experience wasn't ideal, but we've been so overly wowed by those three elements that there may well be nothing that would keep us from returning.

Saturday, we took a long-lost friend to dinner for her birthday.
We made reservations using OpenTable about a week in advance.
We arrived at precisely our reserved time and learned that one of the hostesses had mistakenly given away our table. It was a short wait for a new table to open up.
Upon being seated, we were promptly met by our server. A very nice, clean-cut young man. He took our drink orders and was back with them in a timely manner. He took our food orders and we asked about the delicious rolls (typically delivered before the drinks arrive). Another server arrived with a basket of sliced french bread, and provided us with the oil and balsamic, shortly followed by our meal.
As is standard, our server checked on us a few minutes in, to ensure everything was fine. It absolutely was.
About half way through our meal, we attempted to flag down our server. He buzzed past us (my hand just a foot from his face) to another table. It appeared he had been summoned by Chef Chad, so we forgave it. When we did get his attention, we asked for refills on our drinks; we saw him bustling around several times over the next ten minutes before he returned with fresh drinks.
Chef Chad stopped by our table twice and was very cordial (as always).
Our server returned after another ten minutes and we ordered dessert. At that time we asked about the rolls and were informed that they were discontinued.
We reminded him that we were there for a birthday, and asked if there was any specialty dessert for the occasion. She was given a complimentary Cannoli.
There was a slight issue with our Spumoni, so it was returned to the kitchen and a fresh one made.

If we could change only one thing, it would be to bring back the rolls. :)

I attended the 6 course event that Oregano Italian Kitchen held and enjoyed it a lot. My mother and I consider ourselves foodies and had a great experience. The food from chef Box was by far the best food we had. It was exciting to see what came from the different chefs. The food was great but the service wasn't the best. We were served by very young kids. We had to stop people a few times to ask for items. We also thought the timing was off. Between some courses we would wait 20 - 30 minutes and another time they brought the next course before we had finished the last. These are all things that come with a new restaurant and I am confident they will work them out. This restaurant has fabulous potential. Oh they also didn't have any adult beverages which was a downer for us. Overall great place with a lot of potential.

Everything was almost good: food was okay, service was okay, ambiance was okay, noise was okay. If invited I'll go again, but won't recommend it for the time being.

My chicken parmegiana was overcooked, and the take-home spaghetti and meatballs was off after a day in the fridge. The service was friendly but slow. The ambiance was a dichotomy between nice-ish and casual, but clashing rather than blending together well. The noise wasn't too bad, but our table was so close to our neighbors' that conversation wasn't private.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the restaurant itself, the food and the service. We went on a Wednesday evening at about 8:00, and we were one of three couples in the entire restaurant. It was almost completely empty, which was nice for noise level, since I was able to talk to my girlfriend without a raised voice. Our waitress was very attentive, which was, in part, due to the fact that there were only six people in the entire restaurant, but we were still very pleased with the service. The food was excellent too, and though a little pricey, it all just added up to a very nice evening. Our one 'complaint,' for lack of a better word, is that the music choice was a little out of context. We didn't particularly enjoy the rock music being played in an Italian restaurant, but hey, maybe some people are into that!

I have eaten at the Chef's table several times before and have really enjoyed the whole package they offer diners. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. It feels special. I went to Oreganos based on my experience with Chef's Table. Surely something coming from the same chef will be just as good. Sadly, I was wrong.

My wife and I were seated next to the window in the front. We were seated really close to the couple next to us. So much so that I basically listened to their whole conversation the whole time I was there. It was too close. Bench seating runs the length of the north wall in the front of the restaurant. My wife sat there and I sat in the chair opposite her. The problem was that she was easily six inches higher than me. I felt like a little kid looking up at her. It wasn't a deal breaker for me, but it was... strange.

Our waiter was just a young teenager who was polite and professional, but I had an empty water glass most of the night. I ordered the chicken parmesan. It arrived timely. Not super fast but not slow either. It was a piece of battered chicken with sauce and cheese on it. Very nondescript. It was a little overcooked. I thought it was good, but no better than any other chicken parm at any other restaurant. The difference with this one was that it was $16. That makes me like it less. It was boring. I expect something more than a boring chicken parm for a price that is 25 to 50% more than other Italian restaurants.

We ordered desert. A tiny piece of cheesecake for $7. It was good, but at seven bucks it was no where near worth it.

So, what am I paying $45 for? Atmosphere? Cramped. Service? Inexperienced. Food? Boring. The answer is none of these things. Even if you take the cost out of the meal, it was very mediocre food and okay service. The seating issue was just stupid. I won't go back.

We came to Oregano with moderate expectations. We have had poor experiences in other area restaurants lately. We were happily impressed. The food was exceptional! The presentation was beautiful and inviting. I had the Parmesan crusted chicken. My wife had the lasagna. Both exceeded expectations. We recommend and will return!
