Orange Hill Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
First off, drink had to be sent back, didn't even taste like a Mojito. . plus the glass was filled to the top with ice. . .barely any cocktail. ...I ordered Sea Bass and at $45 a plate you'd expect more than mushy rice and cold brocolli rab.. ..fish was cooked decent but not a lot of flavor. . .partner ordered french onion soup. . . very small serving with NO CHEESE on top. . . I mean that's what you expect when you order FRENCH ONION SOUP! grilled cheese crust on the side, which was cold, did NOT make up for NO cheese on top. . . ordered a side of mushrooms to go with steak, they tasted terrible and were barely warm. .. need I go on? The servers were nice and very helpful but that did not make up for the food being very sub par. . . the only redeeming factor was the view. . . . but still would not throw down that kind of money for mediocre (at best) food and drinks.
Beautiful Restaurant and nice service. I took my fiancé there for his birthday with 4 other guests and we loved view and the fire pits outside but as far as food. we all chose to do the prefix 3 course dinner and everything we wanted was sold out so we got stuck with the steak, which was a disappointment. very dry and chewy. everyone who got stuck with the steak didn't touch it. the service was nice but a bit slow. the view and the restaurant itself was nice.
Unfortunately all 9 of us were a bit disappointed. We arrived promptly for our 615 reservation. We waited for about 15 minutes before we were seated. We then were served our soup and salad and waited an additional 1.5 hours for our entrees. After over an hour waiting I spoke with the manager who seemed to not care whatsoever. She was actually very young and inexperienced and it showed. We were celebrating my father's 74th birthday as well as his entrance into the States from the Puerto Rico disaster. I wanted to make this dinner very special for him and even after the manager was notified of our unhappiness, she did absolutely nothing. We were handed a bill and I walked out close to $600 in the hole for a dinner that was not worth it at all. The view did not disappoint though and our waitress was kind.
Extremely disappointed with food , we expected so much better quality for price in this upper class establishment . Poor layout for buffet style serving. Will not do a brunch or special event dining again. Though the view was magnificent, it took 45 minutes before a waitress came by and we had to get our own water from the bar area and hunt down our own silverware. We expected a better organization and quality from Orange Hill.
Horrible service on a holiday. Sat outside instead of waiting 30 minutes for an indoor table, even WITH reservations. Bad idea as service outside was atrocious. Water glass was chipped and we had to ask four times for it to be replaced. Had to ask for silverware. Never got refills of champagne. Left without having coffee as the waitress never came to check on us. Had to chase the waitress down to get our check, and then that took so long I headed to the reception desk which was unattended. And getting any food was frustrating. Carving station was out of both turkey and beef. All food was packed into a small room, while in years past the dessert was separated into another room. Fish and clam boil were well picked over with mostly empty shells in the boil. Getting through the food room resulted in many bumps and frustration, and having nothing at the carving station resulted in many upset patrons, which made the crowded scene very unpleasant. This was not my first visit to Orange Hill for Thanksgiving, and I've been there for brunch buffets, as well as many dinners and cocktail hours, but I am seriously reconsidering whether I go there again. I still tipped 15%, though I was tempted to leave nothing, which the waitstaff deserved. I only tipped because the cooks did a good job with the dishes. What an utter rip off. In thinking of an analogy, the meal seemed like shopping at a trashy WalMart - mess everywhere, grouchy and inattentive service. Way to cast a negative cloud on our Thanksgiving meal, and a waste of about $250. The best thing was the valet parking - at least they were polite, attentive, and expeditious. We may as well have gone to Marie Calendars and saved $200. Truly disappointing, Orange Hill. Three angry customers.
The Thanksgiving buffet was way to overpriced ($65.00) we do not drink champagne so there should be two set prices one with champagne and one without , a bit understaffed as refills for the beverages were few and far between , we were waiting and one food station and the person running it was gone and nobody was taking their place (orange hill wake up that is bad business) yes the view is great , food is so so , the buffet should have been around $28.95 , then they charge you for the valet , they want at least a fifteen percent tip on the receipt but a buffet is around ten percent as the servers only bring you refills , overall it was ok
In all my years of fine dining, this restaurant will now be considered one of my top five in California. It was definitely a great place to take a "selfie". The buffet was extremely scrumptious and the transition in the dinning room from day to night was really breathtaking.
We went there for thanksgiving brunch. We had been there 7 years ago on same occasion and it was a great experience then. This time was a lot less food choices were offered. Turkey was terribly dry and prime rib was mediocre. Oysters, muscle plate was filled with empty shells and even though several people requested to have it refilled, they did not refill it for over 3 hours and at that time they only added some potatoes and corn to the empty shells. Whole salmon was bare to the bones for the three hours we were there and it was not replaced. For $65 per person it was quite a disappointment.
As being a chef I always wanted to try this restaurant. As for working for McCormick and Schmitz I would think that they would serve the same service. My general manager told me to come and try out the food here at orange hill restaurant. I was amazed how the view was so amazing to experience with my wife. I would recommend to come on a dinner date especially for a anniversary or special occasion.
Wow, what a wonderful view, and the food was very good as well as the service. The bar is nice with a swanky vibe. I suggest arriving before your reservation time and enjoying a drink in the bar while you wait. Great for a special occasion. Go at night for a breathtaking view of Orange County. I can’t wait to go back.
Our server, Claudia, was charming and warm, with great efficiency. She made sure we were comfortable and stopped by often to check up. The food was fine, it always is, but she made the experience for all five of us. One note: I wish you all still had lamb-cop lollipops on the menu. I used to bring people up there just for those.
We had a group of 10 for a birthday reservation at 7pm. We did not get seated until 7:20pm, and when we were seated outside everyone was cold and uncomfortable since they didn’t have enough heaters available for everyone on a chilly night. It took some time to get moved indoors, and the service was lacking there as well. Bread finally hit the table at 840pm, and our dinner came out immediately after some 1h45mins after our reservation time.
Overall it was a bad experience but the food was great once we got it. The service was lacking, perhaps due to a Sunday wedding reception that night.
I would not recommend anyone go unless they confirmed there was no reception that night, and wear warm clothes if you care to sit outside.
LEAVE YOUR KIDS AT HOME! There is a time and place for kids. This restaurant should NOT allow children in evening dining.
I wanted a restaurant where we could get dressed up, drink fine wine and eat a good meal. An overall UP SCALE dining experience. From the minute the valet parks your car you feel this is a nice high end restaurant. We started in the bar for a cocktail waiting for our table. The bartender was very accomodating, drinks good, atmosphere was great and the fireplace was glowing. The view is incredible! Our table wait was 15 minutes longer than our reservation time, but we had arrived earlier in case we could be seated sooner. It had been over 45 minutes. The bartender provided us with a complimentary drink to off set the wait. That was really nice. We had a great view table, the server was prompt and courteous. Our food was delish, the presentation was wonderful, the wine the server reccomended was perfect. They even brought us a desert to celebrate our anniversary on a chocolate scribed plate. (we still order two deserts.) An employee even complimented my dress that I was wearing. My only complaint would be this.....Evening dining should be adults ONLY!!! there was a table behind us with a family that had two YOUNG kids with them. Thankfully they were well behaved and did not disrupt our dining, because it could have been really bad. The other event in the next room had kids running around the restaurant playing hide and go seek in the eating area and under the tables. I was completly irritated with the lack of supervision and that they were able to run a muck like they were. I mentioned it to the server who promplty validated my complaint as he felt the same way. It was that disturbing having all these kids and juveniles running around. He said he was on his way to speak to the manager. Shortly later the group left and all was calm again. The view is amazing, food good, atmospere great for a special event or just dinner. Dont bring kids!
Very disappointed with the service and the food quality. Not sure if they are under new management again, however our waiter was unsatisfactory and not very professional. In addition, they food buffet was not as good as it has been in the prior years. The food was not hot under the buffet. COuld use improvement. I am a local and go for HH in the bar most of the time. I would not recommend for dining due to the price i would expect much better
