Nice restaurant with potential but the restaurant was dead on a Friday at 7:30. Only 3 tables occupied. Service was professional yet slow. It took 10 minutes for someone to come to the table and take a drink order. It’s as if they were not expecting any guests. Food was quite good. The lack of vibe really hurts the experience. When you go out on a weekend evening you want some energy in the restaurant. It was really dead.
Delicious steaks, almost melt in your mouth!
We took an elderly friend so the noise level was important to us for conversational purposes. There was no problem and we had a lovely evening. Sean was our waiter and he took great care of us. The live piano added to the ambience. The pianist was very versatile and accomplished. It created a wonderful background without being overpowering. The meal was a bit pricey but we will return.
i highly doubt we will go there for dinner again, 4 glasses of wine 1 app 2 entrees = to much money($135) for an avarage person
The food and service were exceptional, snd it was uncrowded and quiet on a Saturday night starting at 5:45 pm. The piano player added a very nice touch.
went for a birthday celebration and it as wonderful! the food is great, great bar device and the piano was sooo nice to have! thanks for great evening!
My husband and I came here off a recommendation from a friend for a date night. It was quiet enough to hear each other but there was a man playing the piano which made a lovely touch and the ambiance was perfect for a date night or anniversary. Our steaks were delicious, our sides were phenomenal as well. Will definitely be back.
This restaurant is amazing, especially for Plainfield. It’s easy to get a reservation, I’m sure it will get more difficult as people find out about how elegant and how fine the cuisine is here. It’s as good if not better than most Chicago restaurants.
Most of us ordered steak, and it was perfectly prepared. However. The sides were only ok. One at our table ordered the gnocchi and loved it! Service was excellent. That said, there are many great steak houses in the western suburbs, around the Oakbrook/Lombard area. I didn't think the Opera House differentiated itself enough to choose it again over one of the others.
The food was really good but it is more expensive. So prepare yourself for that. Drinks were good as well. It was the perfect place to go for our 3 year anniversary.
This was the perfect date destination in Plainfield.
If you're looking for great steak or seafood this place is fantastic! Highly recommended! We loved the filet mignon and the seabass!
Was pretty disappointed. Went there for the first time with the Wife. We started with their lump crab cake appetizer. No lump crab meat in it what so ever. More the consistency of tuna fish from a can. Came to the table warm, not hot. We were very hungry so we ate it. The 2 cakes were the size of an Oreo Cookie. No lump crab meat so $18 for two cakes was a compete joke. I then had the Lobster Bisque soup. There were two tiny, (and I mean tiny) pieces of lobster in it. While it did taste good, again a rip off for what you received. We then had two filets that were good. Cooked as ordered and came out hot. The server we had was very good as well. I just feel the place is way overpriced and the product you receive at the table is not what the menu describes. If you want to spend that kind of money, do yourself a favor and go to Sullivan's in downtown Naperville. I have never been disappointed there in the 20 or so years I have been going there. First time for Opera House and very disappointed. It is really too bad because I live very close to Opera House, but unfortunately will not be going back.
Service was impeccable, the food great as always, the view sparkled (they sat us by the windows).
Party of 4. 3 of us had steak. 1 ribeye, 1 new york strip and 1 Kansas city strip. All cooked to perfection. 4th was 1/2 chicken dish which she said tasted as good as it looked. Service was awesome. Will definitely go back. Steaks ran $39-$45 but were at least 16 oz each. Ambiance was great.
Service and food are always excellent at opera house.
Amazing all around. Definitely recommend
Food was phenomenal and our waiter, Kyle was excellent! This was our second time having Kyle wait on us and he was so spot on with everything. Our r serration was for 630pm. Would have liked liked the room a little dimmer to create more of a romantic ambiance. Otherwise, was a perfect date night!
Opera House was FANTASTIC!!! We were there for Mother’s Day, so we participated in their brunch. Even hough it was the tail end of the brunch, we were able to enjoy EVERYTHING ON THE MENU LIST. And the service was PHENOMENAL!!! Our waitress was attentive, gave us everything we wanted AND was kind. We will definitely be going back for the regular menu!!!
My family of 4 (3yr old and 1 yr old) had a great time for Mothers Day Brunch. The atmosphere is very calm and we had great service. Although I wish the food was hotter, the brunch buffet was pretty good. My whole family enjoyed the spread.
Overall it was good. For the service food and atmosphere this is not a good value for the money. Also service was slow and food was not as good as the high end restaurant they claim to be.
Beautifully decorated . The ambience was perfect !! I was very pleased with the food. Music was very nice . Will be back !!
Outstanding, food, staff and atmosphere. We love this place an will be back. Waitress was on top of everything. Very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Piano player was a very nice touch.
We enjoyed out night out prior to Mother’s Day. Parking was easy. Our meal was very good
Service was good but food a little pricey. over all it was very good
Ambiance was very nice. Service friendly but a little slow. Prices were high for quality of food. Two of us ordered a version of Benedict -- only 1 out of the 4 eggs had a runny yolk. Wrong potatoes served to one of us but gladly brought out a correct order immediately. Three of us ordered Spicy Bloody Mary's which were very good. Other person had a Bellini but peach puree was too heavy so did not taste until last swallow even though "stirred" several times. Place was very beautiful with the history. There for Sunday Brunch at 11:30 and only 3 other tables were occupied other than a special event in the other room. Expected it to be much more busy perhaps speaks to our experience. No "gluten free" options available which is sad in today's restaurant market. Sounded like a couple of good specials on Tuesday nights ($10 Burgers) and Wednesday night Date Night specials with a menu for 2 for $60. Have heard that the steaks are great but pricey especially for downtown Plainfield. May or may not try the Wednesday Date night sometime. Skip Brunch and go down the street to several other options at better prices.
We have given this restaurants many chances to become what the advertise themselves to be. Sadly I think we are done. The service is really poor. Very nice, but not trained on the menu, drinks or general service. This last time we were there for brunch. There were only 4 tables in the restaurant. The juice order was wrong, and we found ourselves trying to track down our server for more coffee as we waited over 30min to get our food, for a table of two adults and two children. When the food finally did come my husbands food was cold. They did take his meal off the bill, however the manager never spoke to us. I feel that every time we are at this restaurant we are sending something back. It also seems they have "cheapened" the food over the past months. The plates are not the same, portions are smaller, however they are charging the same. I have tried to go to the restaurant directly, so as to not leave a negative review (we want this restaurant to succeed in our town), however I have never had any response. I am willing to pay significant money for good food, but I can no longer spend such money on inconsistent food and poor service. When the food is good, it is often very good, but that just can't make up for everything else.
Too expensive for amount of food given, difficulty accommodating gluten free. I ate when I got home because I was still hungry after a $39 entree. Ridiculous
My wife and I had discussed visiting the Opera House and when it came time to celebrate my birthday, it was on the top of the list. We found the staff to be very friendly but found ourselves several times looking for them. The restaurant was not busy and the staff seemed to spend a lot of time chatting among themselves.
My wife ordered her steak medium+ and I ordered mine medium rare. When delivered to the table, hers was more rare than mine. Instead of putting it back on the grill, a replacement steak was quickly prepared to her liking.
I really enjoyed the flavor of my steak and all of the rest of my meal. Unfortunately my steak (dry aged 45 days) had gristle all along one side that also penetrated at spots into the rest of the steak. I did not mention this at the time because you expect to encounter some of this with any steak. It was not until I reheated the left-over portion at home in good light that I could see the extent of the gristle and trim it off. Not something I would expect in a $48 steak.
The hostess did offer us additional drinks and desert which we declined, being full and nearly done with the meal.
Food was great! Service exceptional. Great martinis. Really nice location and atmosphere.
We really enjoyed the food & service! Will def return!
I think I love/hate this place. Love: I started with the caprese salad. I think it's the best caprese salad I've ever had and that's saying alot. I had the burger special and mac n cheese side, both just ok. My mom had seafood and risotto which I also tried and it was solid. The wine selection was also good. I have the opera house cab and malbec, both delicious.
Hate: After the tip a meal for 2 was close to $200.00. We were there on a Tuesday night, so definitely a place for special occasions only. However, if I did go back casually I'd probably try to hang in bar, which looks pretty cool.
Been here 3 times in April and the food has bee. Great and all the staff have been amazing.
Surprised my husband with the Southern BBQ Buffet and comedy show. Food was great, service was awesome, and the comedy show was hilarious! Nice to have something like that so close to home!
Don't waste your money on the steaks at this place. The filet was tough and not of high quality. The baked potato over cooked. If you like sitting at a table with other guests within an arms length on both sides of you, then you will like this place. There were a lot of tables available an enjoyable evening without listening to the other guest's conversations (without wanting to). It was our anniversary and we noted on the reservation, but server said nothing to us about celebrating. The server was a little chaotic and could not multi-task. She walked by five times my empty glass before finally offering a refill. This was not a great experience and expected so much more for such a high-priced menu. I really did like the decor. No manager on duty to address other guest's issues with what "dinner for two" meant. They were not allowed to use their groupon because they did not "buy two entrees." We got to hear all of this, as they were sitting next to us (less than an arm's length) and really difficult not to hear. More privacy with dining should come with such a high menu price.
Way too expensive for the amount of food. I have been to much better steakhouses. Service is slow. I will not be back.
Food is excellent. Waiter was attentive. But food came out very slow.
My wife and I are there on a Wednesday and it was busy. Our waitress Amanda was very Good! She was very attentetive and friendly. I had the Ribeye wich was cooked perfectly and my wife had the 1/2 chicken wich she loved. For dessert we had the banana chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. It was delicous. This is a high end restaraunt for special occasions. Loved it!!
It's over priced, but a nice quiet place for older customers.
had wonderful service, food was good but pricey, and wine was great. Our server was very friendly and attentive. BUT......we could not SEE our friends as we were facing the window and there were no drapes or blinds to adjust the light! Our friends were simply black faces until the sun set! Dont know if this is a common complaint. It was a lovely room but the high bright windows were really a deterrent
