Beautiful location, subpar food but location is gorgeous. Would expect better food value for money though.
Birthday brunch for my friend Rachel
We were told to wait 20-25 min for a table, and didn't ultimately get seated for another 45 min. Poor communication from the staff and I honestly wouldn't have waited 50 min for lunch.
Food was ok. Beautiful presentation but way overpriced. My friend got a dish that was a glorified salad with some seared tuna on top for $22
Overall, Openaire was pretty tasty. We have issues at the beginning with our hostess never seating us and me having to remind her that we were still waiting (even with a reservation made). Once we were finally seated, the service was extremely slow having to wait on our waitress to address us, then wait over 15 minutes for drinks. Finally we got a new waiter and he was much better. Our experience wasn't terrible, but the negatives definitely stuck out to our table. There are too many great restaurants in LA to not pay attention to the small details. People will go elsewhere if you're not up to par.
Great place, to say the least
The food was delicious, but the portions were too small for my liking.
The food was average. For what was spent here, I wouldn’t recommend.
Innovative but very accessible food from Chef Josiah Citrin that compliments his successes at his restaurants Melisse and Charcoal Venice. Every dish was great- especially the tagliatelle to share for the table. Shout out to our super professional and appealing waiter. The space itself is a fashioned as a romantic hothouse. Highly recommend.
more from the mind to mouth, from Citrin's inventive culinary brain to our bodies, passing through those sensory buds that make us happy and want to return.
Had good experiences with dinner and brunch there, but was very diappointed with the lunch. Had banh mi, but baquette crust was not crispy. Club sandwich was ok, but not special. Cobb salad tasted like club sandwich and did not like the dressing at all. Only good dish was the burrata and asian pairs. What a pity because the space is perfect for lunch.
It's a beautiful restaurant, the buffet cart has very small portion and doesn't come around often enough and a few times some of the food was missing.
The service was excellent and very courteous, it was very noisy inside, as we left we regretted not eating outside, it was also a bit cold inside.
Overall, nice experience and will come back
The service was so nice from beginning to end and the food equally as good. Almost perfect amount ordered, attentive staff.I love this place and its ambience just the right vibe, not pretentious.
Went there for brunch. The atmosphere was great but for $200 split between 3 people both the food and the drinks could have been better. The service was excellent.
I came for dinner during Winter 2019 Dine LA and was blown away by the tasting menu. Served family style, some of the restaurant's best dishes were served with your choice of salad and sides. I had never been to Commissary, so I can't say whether they made changes to the restaurant's setup and decor. That said, the poolside venue is stylish and chic and would probably be ideal for Sunday brunch.
Very cute restaurant with delicious food and drinks! Perfect for a special occasion or everyday dining!
I had been wanting to go to Commissary - didn't realize it was the same restaurant design, but a new name and chef! Oh! Suprise!
Probably would have been lovely - but we were there on a Sunday morning and didn't know there is only a $40 prix fixe Brunch menu, no option of small bites. Had we known, we probably wouldn't have come with the in-laws. Dishes sounded and looked tasty, drinks were interesting and not too pricey.
We came right during the brunch rush (1:30pm) and service was a little slow, albeit nice, so we excused ourselves and will try to come back again.
...just probably not during brunch...
Friendly staff. Food was not the best but still very tasty.
I think for value, it's a little overpriced.
But overall a good experience!!
This was a fun outing for us! Before coming here I was told my a friend that the food was pretty good, that they had amazing cocktails, but their service wasn't the best. That was exactly our experience too. The food was really great, but a little pricey. The cocktails were totally amazing. But the service really lagged! Our servers were perfectly nice. But they seemed a little disorganized, we didn't get everything we ordered and often times our food was pretty delayed. They seemed to have plenty of staff, so we didn't understand the lack of attentiveness.
I would definitely come here again, if I had some money to spend and some time on my hands.
Josiah Citrin gave us 20 great years at Melisse. Now he brings us Openaire.
Food was delicious but the options were selective and a bit pricey. But the space is so so so beautiful
Service was excellent. Dani was our server and she was an absolute pleasure. The entire staff was great. The Snake River Sirloin was amazing.
Excellent service, beautiful ambiance and great good.
The service could be defined as more of a sophisticated taste. The food pairings were quite genius and very well balanced. For instance, the Hamachi appetizer showcases the delicate sashimi with dashes of citrus. The portion was just enough for three people, but definitely could have been more on the plate for that price ($21)
Went there for my bf’s birthday. Mentioned that in the reservation, they said Happy birthday when we arrived, even had a birthday card on the table, how sweet!
Honestly, with such a beautiful environment, I don’t have much expectation about their food, but it’s amazingly delicious! My bf had a chicken wrap, he said the chicken mixed with grape and apple are so fresh and tasty. My chicken noodle soup was good too! They have grilled chicken, spinach, diced carrot, mushroom, squash and potatoes in the soup, made it so colorful and rich of taste. And with the super friendly staff, we had a great birthday lunch! Thanks to the openaire team.
Food for everything from date to special. The service was
Lovely. The hamachi was delicious. We liked everything.
The place was amazing, I really loved the green house plants astitic, the food was tasty, different, and very fresh. the staff were very friendly and attentive. My wife and I came here for our anniversary and all the staff came by individually to congratulate us. They also wrote us a really cute card and brought over two glasses of Champagne On the house. It was a really great vibe and experience.
Great vibes and great food!!! Highly recommend.
This place this awesome! The waiters are some of the nicest people ever, low key regret not getting the food cart option but I’ll be back so no worries.
Brunch menu ends at 11:30 am during the week. Lunch options were somewhat limited to typical hotel faire. Cobb salad was good, but overpriced for the portion. Restaurant ran out of straws, so had to chug my mocktail straight out of the glass. Not sure if I’ll come back for the brunch.
Service was terrible. 10min for a waiter to come. Entrees thrown on the table only 2min after we got our starters. Then it took 25min for them to serve desserts with but one wrong and the other one missing. The GM spontaneously took out the charges for the starters and the desserts. Nice gesture but he needs to get his staff and kitchen in order.
I really enjoyed dining here with my friend over the New Year's weekend. The ambiance is very inviting and I enjoyed the customer service we received. The food is small plate so just know that your bill may reflect that if you are hungry for more than a quick bite.
Nice place, good ambiance, good food can be better, great customer service, valet parking is expensive ($13) since the restaurant is in a hotel and because it’s tough to find street parking. Overall good.
Although the Ambiance and the food was excellent the food took forever to come out and we paid over $100 for a five-course meal and we left hungry. The restaurant was also very loud and there were a lot of people that came in just for the bar. If you're paying $135 for a five-course meal you expect to have a quieter more romantic ambiance even on NYE. It took close to an hour just for us to get our first course and then our second and third quarters were served out of order. The plates were so small they were literally just three to four bites. Surprisingly alcohol was not included in the price and I paid $16 for a glass of wine which I was able to get for $10 in the downstairs bar. As stated on multiple reviews on Yelp the food is good but it is way too expensive. I wish I had read those reviews before I made my reservation. The manager and servers were very friendly and courteous and extremely apologetic but overall the experience was very disappointing.
NYE dinner was great!
Food wasn't that great for the price, but place looks gorgeous.
Chef Josiah Citrin did it AGAIN. The level of excellence in the food preparation, delivery and execution is delightful. The whole fish was flavorful and beautifully executed.. we would only suggest the head be removed. The ambiance is cool and the lighting could be better, we could barely see some food items and needed our IPhone flashlight to peruse the menu. Still.. Chef is the culinary artist to follow. I'll choose any restaurant of his over other options every time. Congrats Chef. Between Melisse, Charcoal and now Openaire.. we have our 3 top picks again this year. Thank you for raising the bar with exquisite and precise choices and preparations. J'adore this Chef. Oh.. and Matt the somm has made unique, interesting and as usual.. perfect selections for wine pairing and enjoyment. This is a newer Koreatown option and over time I know there will be an increase in demand and popularity for this fabulous new spot!
We just tried Openaire for the first time since they revamped the restaurant and we had a fantastic experience. They have such a unique idea for brunch-- served in a bar cart as a flat rate add-on to your entree! Come hungry-- there is tons to eat and everything was amazing. The service was a little less than stellar but the new decor is awesome and the food is totally worth it.
