Outstanding food and highly proactive waitstaff that will exceed your expectations. Highly recommended!
I had been before but never for breakfast/brunch . Breakfast was truly a disappointment. Limued options and food was not good. Viennoisseries were old and overheated, dry and way too oily and no bread offered with eggs. Coffee was lukewarm but what really topped it all was the lack of service and to boot the automated 18% tip for a table of only 2. Won't go back at least not ever for breakfast.
We found this little gem and we are happy we did. The patio is really cute and the inside looks really nice as well. The food was really tasty, we both had the duck and loved the creativity of the dish. Our only complaint is that there is not a super accessible wine list, only 4 red options and all were $50 or over. Would have liked a more affordable option but in the end, the Pinot Noir we had was very tasty. Will definitely be back for a date night, it was nice and the service was wonderful.
Our server seemed to be in a hurry at all times. Hurry to clean the table when we were still working on our dishes. Hurry to take everything away. Hurry to give us the check when we, apparently, haven't finished our food yet. Worst experience ever.
We sat outside. Food was good
The server was very attentive and courteous. The food was great but his service was even better.
Friday August 6
Absolutely marvelous service, cuisine and wine were superb. Very accommodating of our request for a quiet table outdoors away from others because my sister is immune compromised. They could not have been more accommodating and gracious- what a truly lovely experience.
Excellent Costumer Service! We were delighted by the attention and service of the hotel stuff. Thank you to Marlos to make our dinner experience AMAZING. We will definitely come back!
Amazing service, great food, and a beautiful ambiance out on the patio! Will definitely be back.
Every thing was great
loved having dinner at Opaline. Beautiful restaurant, very, very polite and respectful staff. Food and drinks loved it.
Thank you Ronn for your feedback. We are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your dining experience. We would definitely pass your note to our team. Thank you. Sunny Makhni
We frequently travel to DC to spend get-away time. We had walked past Opaline several times and decide to try it this past Saturday. What a disappointment. Service was absolutely awful....not just for us, but the several tables around us were treated as poorly (we didn't complain, but many around us were vocal.) Food delivery was just terrible...I guess the kitchen was understaffed or just didn't know what they were doing. The servers appeared totally confused. The food itself turned out to be ho-hum. I had the chicken, mine was tolerable, but the lady next to me got hers delivered burned..... My guest ordered his hamburger well done...came out nearly rare. With so many good restaurants in DC, I recommend avoiding the Opaline.

Terribly disappointed with service and food. We waited 10 minutes to get seated and 30+ minutes before being served. Food is very mediocre. Stay away.

My Wife and I had a great time. We elected to have our dinner served in-suite and it was a great expereince.
Dear Marshan, Thank you for your feedback. We are very glad that you and your wife had a great time trying our in suite experience. We look forward to welcoming you back. Sunny Makhni
We were on the terrace on a pleasant evening. Considering the year we've been locked down it was a welcome experience. The menu, however, is very limited which I can understand since few people are eating out. When the menu changes we would certainly consider going back.
Dear Jbac, Your feedback has been shared with our culinary team and we will continue to work on our menu items. We hope you come and see us again soon and get to enjoy our patio. Thank you. Sunny Makhni
Great service and food! We went on Valentine’s Day, so it was a preset menu. We were not disappointed!
Marlos was the best waiter! Great experience
Our experience of our dinner was very poor both the wine and food served was tasteless and over priced. Would not recommend restaurant nor hotel
A fun place for spooky drinks on halloween! The Steak Frites was delicious!
Food was delicious! We used a TravelZoo coupon which was good bang for buck!
One of the best service and food experiences I've had in DC in a long time. Service was impeccable and the food was surprisingly amazing.Would give a sixth star if I could! Will definitiely be back to visit again soon.
Wonderful place, I cant wait to go again. The ambience was perfect!
Classy, clean, good food but expensive. Beautiful place.
I enjoyed the good food and crowd.
The Sofitel Hotel is very pretty and chic as is the Opaline Brasserie. The hostess was very friendly - she was the best! Our waiter was unobtrusive. We were given a nice table in the middle of the room with two wing back chairs. The chairs were nice and wide, but they were a little too low and "cushy"( so that we sunk down in them) for the table. it would have been better if we could have sat a little higher. The food was beautiful but the portions were petite. The mini croque monsieur sandwiches were the best! We could have eaten a whole plate of them! The cheese twists were good too, very fresh. We liked that there were more savory items rather than sweet. The deviled eggs had a little bit of caviar on them. There were tiny little triangles of cucumber sandwiches and of a pesto sandwich. There were also mini tarts of mushroom and a salmon quiche and an egg salad sandwich. For sweets, we liked the tiny éclair that was stuffed to the brim with caramel cream - very good! And the macarons were very fresh! The crust was a bit thick for the mini fruit tarts. The mini blueberry scone didn't come with jam or clotted cream but it didn't need any additional sweet topping as it was stuffed with dried blueberries and sprinkled with sugar. It was very petite. The only complaint would be that the tea selection was rather sparse - maybe 6-8. There were more teas listed on their online menu. There was only 1-2 black teas that you would use cream and sugar, and as we didn't ask for it, it wasn't on the table. But they did have mini jars of honey. There were decaf, green, and a herbal option (chamomile) too. This was a more French inspired tea, very petite things, beautifully presented, than an English high tea. But it was good. We'd go back. More mini croque monsieur sandwiches please!
We had a double date and the food and drink were both Delicious. Both couples enjoyed everything.
It was exactly what I was looking for to give my love a special night out for Valentines. Exceptional service and fare.
Amazing! Service was slow due to Valentine’s Day crowd but I will visit again soon!!!
My wife and I had a fantastic time dining at Opaline in Washington, DC. Service was outstanding. Super clean and the food was scrumptious. Upscale and great value. The staff went out of their way to make our experience fabulous.
I am in love with Opaline. The food, the services, the atomasphere, etc. open all my senses: my heart, mouth, eyes, nose, etc.
Food was delicious and naturally and beautifully, and not pretentious. my beets salad was presented like a beautiful flower with fresh, yet intense flavor. foei gras was nicely done. cheese plate excellently paired with honey, figs and toast..
The service felt intimate, but not intruding.
table setup, forks, knives, glasses, etc. were all placed perfectly
Will come back again and again whenever I am in DC.
The staff here is amazing. They personally get to know your name. The service was exceptional. I would definitely recommend this place for afternoon tea with your girls!
Sebastian at the host stand is wonderful
Great place, great people
Best creme brûlée I have ever had. Great restaurant week meal.
Very nice place, good for an informal get together with business associates.
A lovely breakfast spot. The prices were a bit high for what we got. I got the bagels and lox ($18) and my boyfriend’s was more reasonable at $15 for the chorizo scrabble. I didn’t like that the salmon was already on the bagels and was not patted dry, when I picked up the salmon from the bagel the cream cheese had a pink juice on it that seemed odd. The onions were diced perfectly however and the capers were roasted so they had a crisp to them that I enjoyed and had not seen.
We both got a coffee and he got an orange which somehow brought out bill closer to $70 which felt a bit crazy for coffee and an orange juice.
Service was great, extremely attentive and only needed a simple glance their way to get an servers attention.
We dined here on Christmas day and ordered their Christmas dinner. All of our selections were perfect. And the service was as inviting and enjoyable as I've experienced in Washington. We will look for an opportunity to return.
Very good, damn near exceptional. Go now!
The best thing our waiter did was relay to the manager that the music was too loud and she was nice to lower it. Very slow service. Tuna tartare was a very odd preparation, and my steak frites was mediocre. My husband did enjoy his bronzino.
