Service was amazing, food was delicious. Definitely recommend.
Fun night at Opal! Food and service were excellent. Can’t wait to go again
I probably go to Opal twice a month these days. It's always great. Love the servers and the food. They've really got it down.
Food was good but not raving. Server was not particularly great. Since we were a group of 6 gratuity was added. I alwAys think this translates to poorer service as the server has a tip in the bag. Took a long time to get our bill and then we were charged tax in the automatic 20% tip!!!
Opal was our choice for a pre-concert meal. The food selections were perfect, service was outstanding. No concerns for time. I would definitely recommend!
Always memorable- food and service are spectacular!!
Very good people over there, great service!
My steak was sooooo tender!
But a bit too expensive
Service was excellent and the restaurant was nice. Their steaks were 8/10 good needed better seasoning but the seafood is really good here. Would recommend for sure
The service was awful. I had to ask for everything - Not once, not twice but three times! Asked for no almonds on a dish...and there they were. Calamari was soooo spicy we could not eat it. I will not be going back.
This was our first time at this restaurant. My shrimp appetizer was incredibly good and also my crab cake was excellent. My friend had French fried mushrooms that he said were terrific and bouillabaisse which he also enjoyed very much. We are looking forward to trying the mushroom risotto next time we come to this restaurant. And we will be returning soon because we really enjoyed it. The shrimp appetizer was so good that we are sure we will both be ordering that as a starter before the risotto. The ambience I would say is average but good enough so we will be back.
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. I was celebrating my wedding and the staff was warm, attentive and accommodating.
The food was outstanding as well. The appetizer was light and refreshing, the filet mignon was perfect. We even had a pizza and cheesecake to go which was also quite good. I recommend this place highly and will be back again.
From the minute we walked in and were greeted by Lisa, to the wonderful bartender, drinks and appetizers (calamari, yum!), we were so happy. Then, we were seated at a table, loved our server and had the best food! The ambiance, service, and overall environment is outstanding and memorable. Highly recommend it!
Great experience, great food and great server. We went to celebrate my birthday. Marcus was our server he was amazing.
Very beautiful restaurant. Wonderful environment. Possibly there was a staff member or two sick the night we were there, because the service was about as inconsistent as I have experienced. The servers, manager, all people working there were super nice and helpful, but they would just disappear for very long periods of time.
I was disappointed in the food. I ordered the crab cake starter—not sure what the very minute amount of crab was cut with (bell peppers, various cubes of something crunchy???) Hard to identify and not great to eat when you are expecting crab. The so-called crab cake was floating in a soupy strange sauce. Lots and lots of sauce. Caesar salad with hard strands of parmesan and straight from the bag stale croutons. My husband had an inordinately tough flat iron steak. No, the food was not what we had hoped (and paid) for.
Disappointed! Our food was mediocre. My paella was lukewarm and ingredients were not good. The restaurant was very busy and had a large group which I think hurt our experience. This is probably a good restaurant but they had a off night. They did not charge me for my paella and gave us a free dessert for our anniversary. I think they care and try to please.
Sat outside and it was a beautiful evening. Opal never disappoints! Food was great. Service was impeccable, as always. Blackberry margaritas were amazing.
Cool place, good food.
Always a Santa Barbara staple! You can’t go wrong, especially with Shannon as your server!
The food was good. My mashed potatoes were cold. Server was nice and attentive. Cute place.
Maitre’d could act a little less like they are doing us a favor by allowing to eat there—even though we had made a reservation for our anniversary.
Great restaurant! Great food, excellent service, nice ambiance, and fair prices! One of my favorites
Food, atmosphere and service were outstanding. The lemon grass salmon was the BEST salmon I have ever eaten. The vanilla crepe brule was also amazing
Fabulouss food and service We sat on the patio on a beautiful summer evening. Every time we visit Santa Barbara, we go to Opal which is in walking distance from our charming B & B!
Everything on the menu is delicious and never disappoints. Service is friendly and discreet, just right. Flavor combinations and presentation are a delight.
Our server, Ryan was outstanding! Great food, service, and ambiance!
Food delicious and service very good. Ambiance is fine but not spectacular. Price appropriate for quality of the food.
We enjoyed the lovely ambiance and courteous service. We had a relaxing meal prior to an event at the Santa Barbara Bowl. We intend to return. Thank you
Great service quick ordering and service late in the evening and still high energy and welcoming. Food fresh cooked and really delicious.
I had the shrimp linguine which was good. My wife had the Risotto which was tasteless and we were told that the chef sometimes forgets to add salt! So we landed up switching and I battled to finish her risotto after killing it with salt and pepper. Didn’t feel like finishing my original linguine after that. Happy to just get out of there. Our waitress and the manager were very sweet and tried to make things right but unfortunately when the food fails the whole evening fails. Pity
Opal has a charming ambiance but food was not as good as it should have been. A soup du jour was lovely but both vegetarian and chicken main dishes were bland and uninteresting and one dish was too cool to be edible. I'd go back for a class of wine, but not a meal.
Great restaurant and great service.
Great food, friendly staff, great atmosphere, easy location for parking
Have been going to Opal’s for a number of years when in town. Usually no special occasion. But...because we are annual or semi annual visitors, a Birthday celebration was in order. Hands down the best.
Opal is one of our favorite restaurants in Santa Barbara. The food is consistently good and the service is great. Whether for lunch or dinner, you can't really go wrong here. Prices are reasonable too.
Good selection of wines but quite expensive, food was excellent and service nice and friendly..
The food was good, but our meals came out at separate times, so my husband's steak was ice cold by the time my fish was ready. Then, we asked for our check when dessert came, and waited over 40 minutes for the check to come. My husband wanted to leave without paying, but I just couldn't do it. The food was pretty good (the shrimp appetizer and the "suprise" dessert were fabulous), but I seriously doubt that we will be back anytime soon, if at all.
Great place for dinner or a cocktail. Great ambiance
Have been a customer for a long ti,e. Appetizers were outstanding, entrees so so but we will be back
Our reserved table waiting for us near window, perfect for watching people outside while dining. Basket of bread arrived and waitstaff very attentive bringing us drinks and meals. Food was mostly excellent. Caesar salads were great. Paella was delicious, lots of chorizo, chicken and shrimp, but clams and mussels were not best I've ever tasted and it could have used more rice. Wife's salmon was spot on perfect!
Have been coming here for over 10 years. It's a wonderful restaurant. I highly recommend it to anyone new to Santa Barbara.
