We celebrated two anniversaries at Opa Taverna and overall enjoyed our time. The best parts about our meal were the kind service and the classy ambiance. There are also many gluten and dairy free options!
The complimentary hummus was a great starter. Try the opa chips (thin and crispy, lightly flavored). Our friends liked their spanakopita and mousaka. My mother and I shared the tsipoura, a whole deboned white Mediterranean fish that was very fresh. The capers really made the dish! The side of sauteed spinach was well seasoned if a bit oily, and the additional side of brown rice was highly flavored if a bit salty. Overall we enjoyed our entree, although the price seemed a bit high for two fillets of fish (we were glad to be sharing). We probably would not order the calamari again, as it lacked seasoning.
Our server was very patient with answering our table's many questions, and she was quick to bring a replacement side when it wasn't to one of our party's liking. The entrees took a bit long, since we had 2 fish dishes (we were forewarned that they would take about 30 minutes), but we had plenty to snack on in the meantime.
I would like to return to Opa to try the gyros or the other entrees, and to bring our own wine (we forgot!). It wasn't to the taste of our other party members, though, even though we all agreed it was nice to try this place out.
**Note: The menus on OpenTable and other social media sites reflect the restaurant's previous location, which was much more casual and diner-like. So look at the restaurant's actual website to see their current menu, or see social media photos from within the last few months.
Excellent food and service. We will be back.
Great Greek restaurant! Great food and the servers were very friendly. One of our favorites restaurants in downtown West Chester.
First time at this lovely greek restaurant. Ambiance and food were delicious. The added bonus was chatting with the owners. They really do want to please! we recently relocated from NY and thrilled we found this GEM!
Service was slow
Great, GREAT food!!!
Authentic food. (Greek father) good atmosphere in downtown West Chester. Highly recommended.
Good food. The noise level was not too bad because the windows were open. I wonder how it will be when they are closed.
Great service and great food!
Great new Byob in WC.
I have been to Opa twice. I like their appetizers and we ordered three, but they all came out at different times. I like it when they out come out together. Two of my dinners were out and we were waiting on the third.
I had the snapper and it was delicious. It came with the sautéed spinach.
The service was slow for a Thursday, but the service was so nice that you didn’t mind!
Yum!, after we secured a waitress. We'd recommend a better system for checking in since two parties arrived at once and we think that added to the confusion of no wait staff assigned to us. Once the mistake was realized, everyone was lovely.
The restaurant is TOO LOUD, could noise "eaters" be added?
Several in our party thought that, as a new restaurant the staff is working out the kinks.
At the end of the evening, the staff recommended a change in one preferred dish for our next visit.
We love that it is a BYOB.
This BYOB (for now) was a pleasant new surprise for the West Chester borough. Not your typical Greek food, but more with a modern twist. Greek lasagna, greek platters (even to feed 2+), and 6 different types of fresh fish - this place is a most-go. Service wasn't the greatest, but chalking it up to an off night. My friend and I split the whole fish (comes with steamed spinach) and the side of grilled vegetables (huge portion!) and it was more than enough. Will DEFINITELY be going back!
Opa is my new favorite place to eat in West Chester. The food is absolutely excellent - had the meatballs as an appetizer and spanakopita as my meal and I can't begin to describe how delicious both were. The staff is extremely friendly and the prices are very reasonable. I HIGHLY recommend!!
The food was delicious.
I am gluten free and they were very accommodating and brought a substitute for the pita bread
The server was very knowledgeable and gluten free herself
my husband and I drove into West Chester to try Opa on a Saturday night. I did our reservation on Open Table and requested outdoor seating. When we arrived in the boro, we discovered there was a huge bike race in progress which went right outside the restaurant. We requested indoor seating and the friendly hostess, Robin, said it would be fine. Our waiter, Bill, was super - friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We loved our first course (fried Greek cheese for my husband and beets and skordalia for me) and also opted for traditional Greek entrees - pastitio and spanikopita. Both were absolutely delicious. We finished with coffee and baklava. Other than the restaurant being a little noisy, we loved it and will return.
Everything was amazing! Can’t wait to go back!
Great service, and
Great food, great service, trendy! So glad there is finally a good Greek restaurant in West Chester!
Still working out some kinks on the service side, but the food is first class and unbelievable value. Atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed. A new West Chester staple.
Nice addition to West Chester culinary choice. Food quality is very good, nice presentation. My wife had their branzino which according to her expertise was excellent. Service can be improved . Definitely will be back.
Great Mediterranean food. The octopus appetizer was perfect. The gyro platter was tasty and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
The food was delicious and the service was great.
However they rushed the food out way too fast, and we felt very rushed.
Once that is addressed then the restaurant is a 5star.
We will go back.
The foood was delicious and well prepared. The only drawback was that the restaurant was very noisy. We had to use raised voices to have a conversation and, even then, it was difficult to hear. The restaurant should consider having noise abatement installed. Lots of hard surfaces reflecting noise. We will be back, but will try to eat earlier in the evening, and not on busy weekends.
Food was not as good as I expected. Spicy feta dip was super salty feta mixed with Franks hot sauce. Greek salad was delicious. Dorata fish was excellent but drowning in olive oil. Awesome location. Great value. Needs to work on the food.
Really nice find. Fresh food with many traditional greek dishes. We kept it simple with Vegetable and lamb Gyros and the sides are very good - greek slaw, side salad, etc BYOB for now worked great. We found the prices reasonable and the portions good. We did not try the entrees which were pricier. Service and management were very attentive. We recommend and will go back
Food was very good and superb service. My boyfriend and I will be returning.
Nice Greek restaurant in the heart of West Chester.
Such a great place with delicious food! Spoke with the owners and they’re lovely. Love that I’m supporting a family business in the borough!
We’ve been here a few times and the food and service are always excellent! Best Greek food around!
This place is new and it is well worth a visit ... The food was flavoursome and plentyful and everything was hot our group of 6 really enjoyed it... The only down side was the BYOB and our server was to keen to clear the table when we where still picking at our food
The food quality and taste was not worth the price. Wouldn’t have been so frustrated with the food if the prices weren’t so high. They are a new restaurant still trying to get everything under control.
We had dinner at this establishment couple days ago, casual greek dining. Food was excellent with nice presentation. Not sure if they have liquor license but BYOB is always good. Definitely will return.
Food was incredible, one of the best dinners in West Chester.
1st time there. We forgot to bring wine but the nice ladies next to us shared their wine with us. Very friendly place. We bought our new friends a dessert to share. We will return soon, with our own wine
Fabulous and authentic Greek food! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and it was lovely to meet the owner!
Food was straightforward but excellent (I say this as someone who has eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world, let alone the greater philly area), and a wonderful quaint location in historic West Chester. What’s more, the value outrageously good. My wife and I each ate the whole bronzino and it was better than many other places in the area but half the price. Others seated next to ate the platters which were enormous portions for only 15 bucks.
Great food and friendly staff . Decor is very nice
Lovely. Food was amazing. Wait staff and manager were so attentive. Loved it so much. Will be back many times.
