Opa Restaurant Providence
Our waitress was more interested in chit chatting with people at another table than actually providing us service.
Our sister loves Opa, we had never been, so we decided to celebrate her birthday there. Everything was excellent, especially the birthday music and song!
The meat was a little dry.
💗love this place
Our server was wonderful and the food was very good but about 2/3 through our meal this worker who I had not seen at all before yells from 3 tables away that I need to remove my hat and that they do not allow hats. There were about 100 ways this could have been handled better. I was right against the large open window and basically outside. Literally on the other side of the sill, less than 3 feet ways was a man with a hat on that was left completely alone. I was wearing my hat because my hair is falling out in large patches from medical treatment. This was ridiculous and is the reason I will never return to this restaurant. I am in my 50s sitting quietly with my family. There were 3 indoor tables sat and 1 person at the bar. The lady at the table next to us told me that she was offend too and sad that I had this jerk with the nose ring speak to me like this. She said she comes here all the time and had never witnessed anything like this. Well needless to say, good job enforcing the hat rule. Lost a customer forever. Go hat police!
Very disappointed. Our waiter barely came up to us the entire night and when he did he forgot about our entrees, a second round of drinks and ice (twice). We ordered our meals and they were never heard of or seen again. We had to ask someone else for our check so we could leave after waiting over an hour for the dinners we never received. It was blatantly obvious our waiter wanted nothing to do with us and went up to the tables around us multiple times throughout the night. It was our first time going to Opa. We frequent MANY restaurants and we have NEVER had an experience like this in our entire life.
Love this place!
Visited for Mother’s Day! Everyone’s meals were great, we did send back one of the drinks from the table since it didn’t taste right. Other than that, it was perfect. Great food. Our waitress was Joyce (?) She was so sweet and always on top of anything we needed.
Excellent meals and apps. Will go again.
Menu was broad enough- heavily influenced by Italian, but being on Federal Hill I didn't expect it to be only Lebanese dishes. Food was good, well prepared, with full portions. However, nothing was exceptional, just good. Servers were friendly and reasonably attentive. Our cappucinos came to the table lukewarm, but were promptly re-served hot. As the restaurant filled up, the noise level became untenable- there's no sound-dampening: wood floor, tile ceiling, brick walls. We had an OK experience. Price for the experience was fair. If we lived nearby, likely we'd return for another try, but we'll not be driving a half-hour for another try.
Excellent driendly and delicious
W travel an hour each way to eat in Federal Hill and other restaurants in providence. Our appetizer was incredible, but the rest of the meal was poor. The food was overcooked, and the meat on the mixed kabobs was the size of a pea.
Our waiter would disappear for long periods at a time making it impossible to speak to him about the meal. I do not mind the noise level being loud, an energetic crowd makes the atmosphere lively. However, you had two large parties sitting behind us and the only words that they knew started with an F and ended with a K. The other diners around us were appalled as we. Your staff had to have heard what was going on.
I have never given a poor rating to a restaurant, but as a small business owner, I feel that it is important for you to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly. It was not a pleasant dining experiance.
Best Lebanese food
Loved OPA ! Food was amazing wait staff was outstanding.
Amazing people, love this place.
Everything was great, First time going there for an early dinner (5:30) for my birthday, but there was a very loud, obnoxious group in the corner, definitely made things less enjoyable.
The staff and our food were fantastic as usual
Too crowded - violated COVID guidelines
barely had any waitstaff check on us and it was more of a night club with blasting techno music... The food was great but the atmosphere was a bunch of loud obnoxious drunks with the owner/manager catering to them and I couldn't get a water. The manager actually took my husbands chair while he was in the restroom and told me i would have to wait while he found another bc the large drunk party next to me needed it!!
Service was really slow. We waited 1 hour 45 minutes for our order. We had plans afterwards which we had to cancel because of slow service. Also this restaurant is not following any social distancing guidelines. It’s a small restaurant with tight seating. The other diners were only 1 feet away from us. The food was average after all that wait. We won’t be going there again.
Love the food, amazing service, great place to have a nice dinner and drinks with friends.
This was the first time I’ve gone to this restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing. I’ve never said “wow” so many times when eating a dish. The servers and host were lovely. The drinks were strong - just how I like them. They’ve definitely made a repeat diner out of me. I would recommend for casual dining, date night, special occasion, or even just a friend get-together. It was a little too loud for a business meal, in my opinion. But if you go early enough - I could see this place working for a business dinner too.
Family of 5 out for a nice dinner on a Saturday night. We tried the Lebanon Dinner since we had never been to a Lebanese restaurant. We got several plates of food to try and it was a great experience. If you you are adventurous, it is great! My husband ordered the Ribeye which was HUGE and delicious. The only issue we had was that we were seated near the entrance where a heater was so it was uncomfortably warm at our table. We enjoyed the strawberry mojitos. It was a 2 hour experience which was nice and laidback. Music came on at 9pm but we were disappointed there were no belly dancers as advertised. They were very on top of picking up the used plates and checking on us. The prices are consistent with Federal Hill. Would go back again!
Overall the food was decent and the experience was nice, however it got VERY loud by like 730 or so which made it very hard to have a conversation with my friend without yelling. There was also clearly no adherence to the 6ft rules and it was very packed.
I rated everything else 5 star because we didn’t even have the chance to sample the food because we didn’t even stay. Opa advertises hookah on their menu and they’re one of the only lounges in the area that take reservations. However, when my wife and I arrived late last night for our reservation, we showed up to the restaurant and noticed that they had TWO small two person tables outside the front door on the busy sidewalk with hookahs. No big deal I thought, maybe they wanted outdoor seating. Well, NOPE. Turns out, they literally only had two tables available for hookah and weren’t allowing any inside the establishment. Wasted 45 minute trip to Providence. If you just want food, place is probably good because the inside was packed. But if you’re going there with the intention on having hookah, look elsewhere unless you want to spend over an hour outside sitting and staring at the people already seated at the two hookah tables to leave. Good luck with that.
Amazing amazing amazing
The wife and I went to Opa to enjoy some hookah. We had no idea that it would have to be smoked outside due to COVID (which makes sense in hindsight). However, it was like 15 degrees F and was frigid. The hostess mentioned that there would be a 30 minute wait if we wanted to sit inside and eat , even with a reservation. All in all, the owner is a really nice guy but I fee they were overwhelmed that evening. We ordered no food and just smoked hookah outside, had 1 drink each (because getting the attention of the waiter get more like a burden than anything). Also, the outside “heater” was put on probably about 30 minutes into waiting for our order to be taken. 2/10.
Loved opa! Food is great
Server seemed preoccupied. There were items that were missing in my salad and the server never came to let me know, when questioned, he brought over bar olives. The appetizers were very good.
The server was a pleasant young man. Just wasn’t the experience I thought it would be.
Food and service were good, but we waited 15 minutes after reservation time for the valet. It was also quite loud.
This is by far my favorite local family owned restaurant! Great food, some hookah and drinks AMAZING
We have eaten dinner at Opa Restaurant two times and enjoyed it on both occasions. The food was delicious, especially the Opa Sampler, which included hummus, baba ganoush , grape leaves, etc. The hummus was our favorite.
Nice restaurant, great food and service. It was odd that the only time slot available for a reservation here on Open Table was 6PM. We arrived at 6pm and were the first table seated. Two other tables were seated within 15 minutes and every other table in the restaurant remained empty until 7:30pm. Would have been nice to arrive at 7 and not have to rush there after work. The upside to eating in an empty restaurant? It was quiet.
Great date night. The drinks and customer service were great!
Cannot say enough about how awesome the food was in quality, preparation and came out hot!!! We are definitely going back,
Everything was excellent!
Food was average/ok. I got a mixed grill plate where the chicken had a very odd texture and was not edible. None of the meats were tender. Flavors were ok. I’ve had much better Greek/Lebanese food for 1/2 the price elsewhere.
Food was very well prepared. Great mix of Italian, Greek and Lebanese dishes.
Always a great friendly time
Service was friendly. Our large party got seated right away (reservations ahead). Several items we wanted on the menu were out. The appetizer cheese fondue turned cold so quickly it just turned into a big blodge of cheese. Meat entrees were all cold, also not cooked to medium rare as requested but rather well-done, which turned the meat rather chevy. Rice was also cold. Overall just an average experience, would not go again for dinner.
