Good food and ambiance made a birthday celebration even more special. When our waiter Frankko overheard us mention “birthday”, he wasted no time letting us know there’d be a dessert on the house. He was also diligent about checking with the kitchen regarding our many food allergies. Delicious homemade pastas and lamb shank as well.
I forgot 1/2 of my Caymus red wine bottle and went up to my room at the same hotel where the restaurant is, I went early in the morning to ask for my bottle and they never gave me back that bottle...unbelievable...I will never come back
Very good wine list!! Short food menu, but very well balanced
Great. OpenTable makes me lengthen the review.
Everything was great except one of the entrees. The spicy shrimp spaghetti tasted just like garlic butter with no spice.
Tried to accommodate me in the bar. Have to talked to the manager to get a table for dinner despite I made reservations for dinner
I had to leave because they refused to provide a table with chairs that allowed our feet to remain on ground, while there were obviously plenty. Then the open table app wouldn’t let me make another reservation. It wasn’t entirely OP Italian’s fault that my New Years Eve was as upsetting as it was, but when someone tells you the table is inadequate for a specific physical reason, you damn well should listen to them. I won’t be back for this reason alone.
Service was amazing! Our waitress was very accomidating with allergies, birthday requests, sweet and funny! The food was amazing as well!
While I understand it was Christmas the reason why we picked the restaurant is they advertised a Christmas dinner. They were clearly understaffed with only two waiters tending bar and serving the entire patio. We got our appetizers in reasonable time but waited an hour for our mains and it was clear others were served ahead of us. We were also seated on their patio where they kept the doors open and only closed them after several patrons asked them to be closed as the temps dropped to 60. The pizzas and salads were good. The Beef carpaccio was very sparse and no flavor. The linguini with clams had very little sauce and excessive red peppers to cover taste.
We were expecting better service and food (definitely did not serve fresh pasta like advertised) for our Christmas Eve dinner. It was sufficient but we wouldn’t recommend to a friend or even return ourselves. One plus was that we found a new bottle of wine we love!
The management should be ashamed of how they staffed the place Christmas Eve. If you can’t hire and pay enough people to cover an evening then don’t take reservations The extreme slowness of every single ask was frustrating. The food was fine, the clams & spaghetti were not quite hot enough, but other than that acceptable. Can’t say it will break my top 100 places to visit list.
Appetizer portions very small for price. Had to keep looking for the waitress or ask other staff to get her. Food was excellent! As requested, they two bottles of wine decanter before we got there.
They had gotten message we had reduced our party from 8 to 6, yet had table set for 8. Had to ask them to take away two placesettings and a two top table.
We came to OP Italian for Christmas Eve dinner bf Church. There were 5 of us. My husband, myself & our 3 kiddos (14, 8 & 5). Brandon was our Server & he was SO GREAT!!! The food, wine & atmosphere we already knew would be wonderful...but Brandon was so engaging & fun to talk to - he was so sweet w/ our 5 year old figuring out what she wanted to eat...it was a memorable holiday dinner. We’ll B back for sure again next Christmas Eve.
Great ambience but the food was average.
I improved the rating from a 2 to a 3 star as the restaurant manager reached out to me to request additional feedback. I interpret this as a group that cares to improve and I appreciate it.
Disappointing experience last night. Not what I would expect from a restaurant at a JW.
Very disappointed by our experience here for dinner last night. Every establishment can run into a hitch or a hiccup...but how they deal with it is what makes a lasting impression. Unfortunately for us, we were left not wishing to return. Too bad as it really could’ve been good....things started out fine but started to rapidly go downhill when it became clear that our meals were not going to come out any time soon....booked for 7.30pm (even arrived a little early) we had allowed 2 hours for dinner for the 6 of us. We literally got our mains with about 10 minutes left on the clock & had to rush them in order to make it to the 10pm show we had tickets for down the road - which we were subsequently late for.
The service was extremely negligent - we were barely checked upon & at one point my husband had to go find someone to replenish drinks....like I said, every establishment has a glitch - but the very least they could’ve done was acknowledge us & keep our drinks stocked while we waited for over an hour for our main courses...2 private rooms with 18 & 40 patrons respectively caused the kitchen to back up...well first, we had arrived long before both parties, second, you’re a restaurant in the business of catering to numbers of people & knew ahead of time about those groups, third, the main restaurant wasn’t even half full & it was a Saturday night - prime time!!!
There was a divide amongst our opinions about the food - most of the dishes were very good but the chicken was a huge disappointment.
This was supposed to be a fun night out for a group of dear friends & sadly OP did not deliver.
Left a bad taste that makes me not want to return - a huge shame as I’m sure our experience wasn’t typical. Having said that, none of the patrons sitting near us had food on their tables either, so those of us dining in the main restaurant clearly got ‘the shaft’. A totally
mis-managed situation that they could & should have handled very differently to mitigate things.
We were excited to try what looked like an amazing menu. Whoever was cooking the pasta that night did not know how to cook it properly. One of our dishes the noodles were hard and grainy. Additionally, there was a dish on the menu that was just a pool of fat. I can appreciate a hearty dish, but this was disgusting. The short rib was nothing but fat and pairing it with a cream sauce just didn’t work because as you mixed it you could see the fat pooling at the top on top of the cream it was nasty and not edible. Luckily we had a very nice waitress who comped us for the hard pasta and apologized for the other dish.
Took our server about 10 minutes to even greet us, and it was pretty empty in the restaurant. The food was so-so, there are much better Italian places in Austin so I would not recommend this place.
I like the relaxed feel, excellent food and friendly service....I would highly recommend it for a small or large gathering.
The food arrived cold and too quickly to enjoy the courses. The mashed potatoes were a gelatinous blob and the turkey cold and gravy ice cold. The only hot items were the Mac and cheese and spinach. The cranberries were out of a can.
Very disappointing meal. It also cane family style with one set on tongs to serve everything.
I have eaten at OP several times and expected a much more elevated dining experience.
The food was delicious but it was cold. The gravy for the turkey was more like juice than thick gravy. Other than that it was great. - oh also the profiterole was a little too rich.
Outstanding food, knowledgeable and friendly service. We’ll be back again!
Very poor service on the patio, constantly ignored and a sad birthday overall. Only got one drink during a 2 1/2 hour dinner
Food was excellent. I would especially recommend the mushroom appetizer. Service was great with everything being delivered promptly and exactly as ordered. The venue is pleasant and not too noisy. Food was not cheap but represented good value in a restaurant of this caliber.
Hello Operalover, We're so glad that you enjoyed our mushroom salad! If you liked this appetizer, you'd certainly love the mushroom pizza. It has the same three types of mushrooms and is baked on a thin crispy crust, drizzled with truffle oil. Please stop by real soon, we'd love to have you back! Sincerely, the OP Italian Team
Good food, server was very nice...just didn’t check on us enough....
Very busy place inside the JW Marriott....
I would have given it 5 stars if my food hadn’t arrived cold. We were too hungry to complain but that would be the only thing we found wrong. Great place. Would give it another try
Best pizza ever and increadible service. The promo "buy 1 wine and have a pizza" was perfect. Best experience.
Great dining experience
The food was very good. The service was very attentive. The noise level was very good to have a small business dinner.
Hello TheodoreT, We're so glad that you enjoyed not only the food, but the ambience as well! We would love to host your small business dinner next time you're in need of a place to eat! Please stop by again, we'd love to have you. -Sincerely, the OP Italian Team
The food was fabulous especially calamari, vodka pasta with sausage, minestrone soup and tomato and mozzarella salad....also including the coffees. The young girl who waited on us gave us great suggestions!
Brandon was our server and made the evening!! Had great recommendations for the food and wine. Very pleasant and very knowledgeable. Enjoyed so much came back the next night and asked for him again!!! Was NOT disappointed!!!
He is a definite keeper!! Excellent !!! Need to give him more responsibility.
I will definitely come back!!
Hello Anne, Branden is an amazing server and he will always deliver the utmost service possible. He is a true professional! We hope that you come back and visit real soon! Sincerely, the OP Italian Team
This place is amazing! I always visit here when in town. I would highly recommend the mushrooms, the calamari, and salmon for an entree!
Hello! Thank you so much for your kind review! Along with our great entrees, we'd love for you to try our amazing signature cocktails. Please feel free to stop by soon! Sincerely, the OP Italian Team
Our server was outstanding. I forget his name but he was very kind and nice. Tall, curly hair. It was my birthday dinner and he made it exceptional. He recommended many items that we tried. Thank you for the great experience and I will be back to dine again.
Excellent service. Homemade pasta and arugula pizza were phenomenal!
The staff was wonderful and the food was amazing

Servers were very attentive and friendly.
Great meatball appetizer to start followed by two of their signature pizzas. Nice evening, attentive informed wait staff.
Top notch and authentic handmade Italian. Highly recommend.
