As the ratings say—a top notch experience. Don’t miss this stylish little joint on Folsom!
Service was slow and not very attentive. Food arrived cold, which I attribute to the slow service. Also, wait staff had no knowledge of the cocktail menu and showed no sign of wanting to ask others for help. When the service is good, this is a good place to have a quiet meal or a group dinner. Get the ribs.
We were so pleased with the service, from walking in the door to walking out. Will definitely be back and will recommend to anyone that is looking for a brunch place.
Bartender was super nice but the wine was pricey for the taste and the Mac n Cheese was only okay. For the amount of money I would go somewhere else.
Overall everything was just above average. I would have given a higher rating if my girlfriend and I didn't get seated right at the very front next to someone with their kids.
A great place for food and after work get togethers. The services was great as well as the servers fun and engaging.
Tall female with black hair Server was so rude. Food was only ok
the space was beautiful and the service was very accommodating. The flavors were great however the portion sizes were rather small for the price.
Wonderful food. The waiter truly knew what I wanted and was spot on.
The staff were very friendly, efficient and chatty. The food was also very good -particularly the ribs.
Loved the ambiance and the service! We truly enjoyed ourselves and enjoyed our food and they gave my husband a free desert for his birthday!
My sister and I had a late brunch at Oola, a restaurant popular with the SOMA tech and bio-tech locals. The odd, opaque glass front door gives one the sense of entering or leaving a special space. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was traditional USA comfort food reworked into California cuisine portions and presentation. There were film clips projected onto a wall over the bar. Overall it was fine.
The only objections were that neither of us found soap or paper towels/air blower in the restroom and that an item or two on the menu were not actually available (which might be because our brunch was later).
We had a 9pm reservation and we were seated 30 minutes later. After we got our food it was cold and a bit dry. Definitely not worth the price.
Barely consumable, and overpriced, food. We had to send some of the dishes back because the food was literally burnt. Service was also abysmal... one of the drinks arrived in a glass with giant lipstick marks on it, and I got a call from their reservation person about where the hell I was AFTER being seated. (I told him that I was sitting upstairs and then waived at him... :) ) When we ordered a second round of drinks, they never arrived and had to complain. When the waitress finally showed up, she said “this is on us”, but guess what... the drinks showed up on the bill later. These guys should reconsider being in this business... there are simply so many fantastic options for dining out in SF that this place should not even around anymore.
Good food, great service, great value and very pleasant ambiance
The food was good at brunch but the service seemed off. I liked their ribs, chicken mini sandwich, two eggs and potatoes with salad. They didn't really check on us but twice and had to remind them we didn't order yet.
They listed a lunch menu for restaurant week (2018) but we got to our reservation and they said that they don't serve it on weekends. This wasn't noted in the restaurant week menu, the website or on yelp.
Food: The eggs were not made as ordered (sunny side up), the slider was dry and sad (see pics) and the meats in general were definitely just reheated. The fries were the best part but we were charged $7 instead of $5 as stated on the menu.
Service: The host kept us waiting at the front for a decent amount of time while he figured out a receipt. With 6 people waiting, he barely acknowledged my party and didn’t acknowledge the other patrons waiting. The server for our table was extremely gracious though and deserves better.
In summary, there was a lack of professionalism by the host and owner and the food wasn’t quality but was absolutely over priced. I rarely leave one star reviews (check my review stats) I'll leave the one star since this was an unsalvageable experience and I won't be returning.
Was not told the restaurant wasn't participating in restaurant week lunch until the night before (even though they did not state on their online menu that it was M-F only, like other restaurants did). Poached eggs were watery and made several dishes very bad. Ambiance was not appropriate for brunch, more for date night
Great service; the restaurant accommodated our party of 8 quite well. Ambience is casual chill and appetizers (brussels sprouts and truffle fries) were really good. The entrees were okay— seemed like they skimped on the portions for pappardelle though it ended up being too salty for anymore anyway. Overall good for what we needed it for!
This is a very intimate restaurant with several tables with booth seating. Service was excellent and the food was delicious and very creative.
One plus is that they show old movies on a large screen above the bar.
Brought two friends to Oola for lunch during SF Restaurant Week...We all chose the three courses for $15. Started out with the Roasted Beet Salad...comes with two types of beets, golden and red beets, watermelon, watercress, goat cheese, lemon thyme vinaigrette. The watermelon added a very refreshing taste to this salad. Secondly, I had five ginger soy glazed Baby Back Ribs with a spoonful of Cole slaw. The ribs were cooked well, forked off the bone and scrumptious! Thirdly, I had a small chocolate cookie. The meal was good. Waiter was attentive and efficient. We sat in the back which was a little dark. I would request to sit in the front with more light next time.
Restaurant week menu was an excellent value with a good selection of entree choices. The service was terrific and we shared different plates amongst the three of us.
Will definitely come back!
The food was good, and the drinks were alright. A few mistakes in service, drinks being delivered to the wrong party, etc, but all together the service was attentive. It made for a pleasant night and good food!
Oola’s flavors were well developed. We enjoyed a selection of starts all of which were good, but the octopus was everyone’s favorite. Entrees were also well received particularly the ribs, risotto, and Bolognese. The Mac and Cheese is a decadent side that is not to be resisted.
Service was below average and we were frequently neglected.
Over all very good, albeit but not excellent.
Took some important clients for lunch to this place. There were five of us squeezed in a U shaped oddly architected table. Food is ok. Visual appeal is good until you sit down. A bit of arrogance air throughout. Not going back.
The ambience was festive on NYE, the service was very attentive and the food was so on point. The Berry Soufle was so yummy!
More extensive bar list than food list. Would have preferred to see more of a menu selection and more varied options. Delicious food, well plated, terrific dessert. More of a younger vibe.
Food and drinks took incredibly long. Food was cold when it arrived.
It’s been a few years since my last visit. Upon walking in, it was just as cool and hip as I remembered it to be. I took a minute or two to get greeted at the door. We sat at our table and our server greeted us within a minute. He was very nice and polite. We ordered our meals and noticed he wasn’t writing anything down. Now, I work in the food service industry as well but when you have customers ordering two burgers with different toppings, it might be wise to write something down. It only made me even more uneasy when he repeated the items back twice incorrectly. We ordered a starter and noticed it hadn’t arrived after 15-20 mins or so. Then out came our meals, including the starter. The server apologized about the delay stating that the kitchen didn’t read it correctly. We had no choice than to eat our cheese plate with our mains. We passsed on dessert even though it was my son’s birthday but they were kind enough to drop off a free dessert. Upon receiving the check, I was maybe hoping/expecting that the appetizer would be comped off for its long wait but it wasn’t. Overall, our experience was ok. Nothing too special which is unfortunate since we were there for a special occasion.
What a surprise! This is a gem. The menu was creative with so many amazing choices. The pasta was fresh. The wine list was great. The food was fabulous!
It was great! House cocktails weren’t too impressive but still enjoyed them
Freak food options, super enjoyable staff, great drinks, fast service, and cozy. Had a great date here with privacy and no complaints
Oola has a great burger and the best ribs I have ever eaten. We have dined here on more than 10 occasions. I do wish the ribs came with something other than the coleslaw which is not very good. Maybe some type of vegetable such as roasted broccolini, a green salad or even white rice. The menu pricing is very reasonable and we will continue to visit this restaurant.
Even though they were a bit short staffed (Sunday brunch after Santacon) they still rotated their wait staff to make sure we weren’t ever waiting too long for anything.
The food was also delicious, nothing short of what you’d expect, and then some
Go for their drinks!
Nice ambiance for a dinner date. Dimmer lighting, fresh take on foods and ribs are recommended.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this restaurant. Very dimly lit interior - plan to squint at a menu a smidge before your eyes adjust fully.
The bacon Bloody Mary was yummy if only for the deliciously salty, fatty piece of bacon which adorned it.
My tomato Benedict was good. I added smoked salmon to it. I must add that the eggs were PERFECTLY poached. The hollandaise (I got on the side) was more like an aoli, but I’m not complaining - it was scrumptious.
The salad was an A+ fresh addition to the plate.
The potatoes could be crispier on the exterior, I think.
Our server was cheerful and personable - no complaints there. She was attentive and polite. Overall I think this was a great meal and made for a nice Sunday brunch date with my sweetie.
Great date spot. Unbelievable food!
One of the best spots I’ve been too. Highly Recommend checking out Oola. My girlfriend and I will definitely be back.
The staff members are all amazing every time I come here! Recommend 100%
This is a casual dining restaurant close to the Moscone Convention Center. It's small so reservations are a good idea. If you're there for a convention it's a good place to meet with colleagues after a day of meetings. Food is delicious.
