Our dinners were prepared perfectly, my husband ordered the rack of venison and our wonderful server JoJo came to tell it would be a bit longer as the cook didn’t like what they had and had sent to their butcher shop for a fresh one, and he said it was delicious. This was not our first visit and won’t be our last, it’s one of our favorite places to dine.

We have dined at the Onyx on numerous occasions...from birthdays to casual dinners to New Year's eve celebration, and I have to say that our last trip there was disappointing. We drive in from Chilliwack for appointments and whenever possible have dinner at the Onyx. There appeared to be a dinner meeting of some sort upstairs, and probably the servers were busy up there. Our server, although I may have tried (he was actually the bartender) failed miserably. He got our drink and appy order and totally forgot to come back and get our dinner order. I had to find him to do that. He completely forgot to bring the coffee that was ordered, and once again I had to find him and ask for that. My steak was fine, but my partners was overdone......and no we didn't mention it as things had already been fairly delayed and we were hungry. We will return, as we have always enjoyed good food and service in the past.....but I hope our last trip is not a sign of the future.

While the meals were delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed them, the value was not quite there. We were left a little wanting... 'Al La Carte', pricing was quite high both on main and sides compared to other steak houses. One side was missed, so ended up waiting 5+ mins for asparagus..? (was comp'd tho), still, spoiled ambience as sat and waited for them, to avoid eating them by themselves. Would recommend with disclaimer of quite high $$ for what you get.

The best part was the service we got from the waitress VINCE. He was an excellent server waitress. He made us feel beyond welcoming and provided the best service ever i have eaten in any restaurant. So koodos. Few mistakes by chef but no big deal was been taken care by restaurant so I definitely recommend anyone to please try this place and you sure will be happy

Everything I ordered you ran out of, and didn’t even let me know until almost 20 minutes later for the appetizer and another 30 for my steak. My wife’s dinner contained mushrooms, even though it is not specified on the menu, and she is allergic to them. We were then told that they weren’t suppose to be there, and given a very quick “sorry”. All of this and not once did a manager come speak to us, the lack of communication there was honestly felt very upsetting and uncomfortable. I understand that it was Valentine’s Day and it was busy, but of all the problems we had it didn’t seem like anyone cared. My wife’s dinner was taken care of, but that is really the last thing you want when you go out for a special occasion.

Came for Valentine's Day, spent more than 1.5 hrs mostly waiting. Steak was ordered medium, came rare, sent back, came well done and with strong cumin taste. Best part of meal was the salad. I don't have anything good to say.

Meat is fresh and everything is delicious! It's a little pricey and main menu is ala cart. There are also more economical items like burgers but we typically go for the steak! The service was friendly and great, we have been before and will go again when we are in the mood for some good red meat! Happy hour is also good, check it out!

We absolutely enjoyed our date, however the only set back was the House steak rub had a very noticeable black liquorice/ Sambuca flavour that I was not a fan of. I was surprised that was such a dominate flavour as it is not loved by a lot of people. I did ask for mine not to have it however it still had the flavour as I’m sure it is cooked on the same grills. With that being said, the steaks we had were great cuts of meat and cooked perfectly! Also the server and cook were very accommodating to my dissatisfaction in the flavour. If you like black liquorice then you will love it because everything else was excellent.
