   Great anniversary dinner, I don’t know why I don’t come here more often! Very friendly and attentive service. The mussels & bone-in NY strip loin were outstanding. We definitely over ordered as the servings were big. Thanks for a wonderful evening out Onyx!

   I was given a $50 gift card so I felt obliged to use it. The card took care of the wine. I ordered the "slow roasted prime rib" medium rare … 12-oz. … $48. I expected the meat to be cut from a larger roast. It appeared that the cut had been pre-cut then reheated in a pan. My medium rare prime rib came medium well to well done. I should have sent it back (my mistake for not doing so). I will say that the meat was kind of tender and quite tasty. My wife ordered the seafood linguine … it came with pieces of halibut, a few clams and exactly TWO prawns. Definitely not worth the $27. Also, my wine glass was dirty (I did receive a complimentary extra glass). I can't think of a single aspect to the dining experience that came close to satisfactory ... well, O.K., the servers were polite.

   Tried Onyx for happy hour yesterday for the first time (business meeting). I wasn't sure what to expect as I usually think of Onyx as a date night restaurant but was pleasantly surprised. The service was efficient, friendly and accommodating. The happy hour wine was lovely (unlike some places where you are penalized for ordering it and have to choke it down) and the appies were well priced, tasty and not all of the choices are deep fried! In particular the bruschetta (both the burrata and prime rib) were a hit with my guests. Would definitely go again, great option for happy hour in White Rock!

   The ONYX was more casual dining than what I would define as steakhouse. Menu had a limited selection of steaks, and the open setting was more pub like.

   I found it pricey. I don't like to have to pay for the side dishes on top of the main entree. My date's good was good, mine was okay.

    What a difference from Port Moody. This one is Small & quaint. Our server Thomas was fantastic!! The food was wonderfully delicious. Nothing like Port Moody!!! Lobster Mac & Cheese!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What can I say.......hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Tempura BACON, OMG it was so good!!!
