The service for this very nice restaurant was horrible. Our waiter never introduced himself, his first words were "Oh, you got water, okay.", then he scurried off not to be seen for another 25 minutes. Be sure to ask for little or no ice in your cocktail otherwise you spend $16 for a tablespoon of refreshment. We spent $300 on dinner for two (2 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, 1 appetizer, 1 salad, 2 entrees, 1 extra side, 1 dessert, 2 coffees) and probably talked to our waiter 4 times throughout the entire meal. He never asked how our meal was or if we desired anything additionally. It was my husband's birthday, which he was aware, but he never acknowledged. Our coffee came with dessert, but it was never refreshed and when I got up and asked another server to assist, he said okay, then I saw him inform our server, but he never made it back to the table. The icing on the outstanding evening was received validation for parking, then had to pay $29 because the validation was only good for up to 3 hours and we were 8 minutes over the 3 hour mark. The scallops were wonderful and the arctic char was prepared beautifully. Though a little greasy, the asparagus/bacon/onions/pea tendrils tasted wonderful. The location is beautiful and next door Casa del Mar often has live music on the weekend. Just a little disappointed that Shutters doesn't hold a higher standard of service.
Location, location, location. On the beach with massive windows and a fireplace, elegant and romantic room. The food is very good, a bit pricey but the service is gracious and warm. Not the most inventive cuisine in the city but this is a wonderful place when you want what it offers.
Really terrible service. The waiter simply disappeared. Otherwise good, but not particularly innovative, food.
Overall was a good experience. Food was very expensive. Main courses were good, but the side dishes were not (asparagus and beets - warm, yuck). The sundae with popcorn desert was excellent. The restaurant is way way too dark.
We were staying in the hotel across the street (Casa Del Mar) and as it was raining, decided to pop into Shutters hotel and One Pico restaurant. We were seated at a nice window table and enjoyed watching a beautiful sunset over Santa Monica pier. Our salads and fish were delicious and the server was excellent. A nice restaurant with good California cuisine.
Great restaurant. Really enjoyed the brunch menu. Will definitely return!
Too noisy. Food was very good. Wine was way overpriced $20/glass
great service and a very warm welcome. very accommodating and relaxed
Fantastic beach and ocean view, excellent food and service.
One Pico used to be one of our favorite restaurants before we moved out of state. The decor seems more upscale than it used to be. We were in Malibu to celebrate a good friend's 60th birthday. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was attentive. The Cauliflower Soup was amazing and I would order the scallops again when we go back. The view of the beach was a huge plus particularly when a group of colorfully lit bikes went by.
We have been coming here for years and it will always be a favorite of ours. They never disappoint !
Good food and beautiful ambiance. Servers need to be trained. We were trying to sit down, stowe purses and jackets and even before we could get into our seats the server was thrusting menus into our hands. I finally said "let us get settled first"! The waiter was also asking us to order drinks before we were seated! After finishing our entrees no server came near our table for about 30 minutes. We would have liked to order dessert and coffee but didn't have time once they showed up. Apparently, they don't know how to time a meal gracefully.
Good food good wine but very cold inside restaurant
We had an excellent meal with great service. We will certainly return and recommend the restaurant to our friends and business associates.
Host staff honored my Open Table request for window table for birthday celebration, and staff was lovely. They included a low-key birthday touch at end of meal, also lovely. Menu was interesting and excellent, and especially enjoyed Calamari appetizer. Atmosphere was perfection. Gorgeous room/setting and no intrusive music. All conducive to great conversation.
Non-existent service due to understaffing. Food was great though.
The food and the view were good.
Great service. Loved the giew
Not great value for money . Food was average. Service was good although chewing gum on a chair caused a fellow diner a lot of discomfort and no resolution was found by management.
Think little Nicolas Sparks little white House on the beach, with amazing food & great service ! We will definitely be returning !
The food was overpriced and the soup was lukewarm. The ambiance was excellent, along with the view. You pay for the experience more than the food.
One of the few "with it" places in town where you actually dine well and hear. Great.
The restaurant was only
Amazing food with great staff. I was really lucky to find this place! I'll be going back next time I'm in town
We were here for a pre-Valentine's Day date. The food was mediocre (except for the bread which was delicious) and overpriced. My boyfriend had the halibut and I had the mushroom pasta. The tables are somewhat crowded together and it is very dark.
Good cocktails 🍹 for my brunch.
We met here for brunch after a weekend celebrating a birthday. The ambience was exactly what we wanted- sun, beach and relaxed yet sophisticated with great food and service! Everything you want!
I love the One Pico ambience
Food is always good. Service is outstanding
Beautiful view of the sandy beach, bike path and water beyond. The food was very good. Our only complaint was that our window table was in the direct sun which was beating in and despite an open window through which there was a lovely breeze, it was too warm. That said, we enjoyed our meal and the view.
We planned to meet a friend for Sunday brunch in Santa Monica and wanted a 'special' location to thank her for her kindness. The setting at One Pico could not have been better, as it combined the elegance we wanted with a feeling that we were right on the beach. We were escorted to a lovely table, and were particularly pleased with the service. The waiters worked as a team, always refilling coffee and making us feel well attended-to without ever suggesting that (even after two hours) the table was needed for other guests -- who were waiting in large numbers! The food was excellent, and made to our specifications ("make the frittata out of egg whites" or "skimmed milk with coffee"). The quick breads (banana; cranberry pistachio) were delicious, and the only suggestion we'd make is that other breads be offered as part of a 'brunch basket.' We will definitely return - and for Sunday brunch continue to plan to start on the early side, around 11am.
Went to One Pico twice during DineLA. The food was superb. The overall experience was exceptional. Highly recommend.
Loved one pico!
We were lucky enough to get a window seat and it was a beautiful Southern California day. The Sun was shinny and we had a head on view of the beach, ocean and the boardwalk. We came for DineLA week and lunch was fantastic. I stared with seared calamari and then a shrimp salad. both excellent! The decor is upscale nautical. From time to time you will have A+ elebs that are staying at Shutters come in, so look around. I highly recommend it!
Dining at One Pico was an excellent experience. Went for a late dinner with my partner and the ambiance was wonderful; dim lighting and the warm fireplace along with the open space created a cozy and intimate feel. The service was perfect and we received great recommendations. Oh, and the food was delicious.
My husband took me to dinner at One Pico for my birthday and it was wonderful!!
My husband and daughters took me here to celebrate my birthday. It could not have been more special! I was facing the boardwalk with a view of the ocean and the magnificent lit up Ferris wheel. The food was exceptional. There was live music and a roaring fire. It doesn’t get any better than this!
It was such a great time in One Pico. And then food was so good!
Great beach view, sitting near a window really makes the dining experience
Service was top notch, food quality high. View of the beach and pier in the evening was nice.
Second unsatisfactory meal. Ordered off special restaurant week menu. Tuna tartare bland, Alaskan char bland, mousse too rich. Carmel sundae better. Service fair
