One Pico Ratings and Reviews
We came here for an intimate birthday celebratory dinner. The location of the restaurant, interior appointments and amenities were great. Our table was set intimately next to windows overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Santa Monica boardwalk and pier. The food was fabulous. We had the halibut and rack of lamb which were simply superb. I highly recommend One Pico for all the recommended reasons checked as well as this short narrative experience.
We've been to 1 Pico before and had a good experience, but we now realize that must have been during the week. We went to celebrate my mother's birthday; her voice has gotten quieter as she has gotten older, and Dad's hearing has gotten a bit worse. It was incredibly loud for Sunday brunch – we ultimately gave up trying to talk. The food was fine, but not wonderful (except for the bread, which we all LOVED). Our waiter was very nice, but we had to ask for the check three times before we finally got it. They were quite busy, so I get it, but given how long we had been eating in, effectively, silence, we were ready to get out of there and frustrated that we had to wait so long. I would recommend this restaurant during the week, though – it's quieter, very pretty, and I've had some delicious special lunches there.
This restaurant is definitely a new favorite! The food, service, and view were fabulous.
I had requested special arrangements. All my expectations were met. A special thanks for making my "meet my son's in-law" from Japan for the first time...a perfect experience. Your setting was the perfect setting to celebrate new beginnings.
I have been here many times. This time, with guests from Oregon, to whom I had raved about the service and food, it was awful!! Terrible service - my water was never filled and I had to ask at least three times for more water. I had a hot tea and never once was I asked for more hot water. I had a ceasar salad and it was drenched in dressing - ugh!! Worst caesar ever. The soup was not great - no flavor and the service was less than desirable for the prices you pay. Only the location would make me go back.
The fire going and the table location - right on the ocean - is the just the best.
Terrific food with great, attentive service. Our group loved the fluke crudo, cauliflower soup, mushroom tagliatelle, halibut, and lamb chops. It's peaceful enough to have a group conversation without shouting, and there's live music in the lounge next door for an after-dinner cocktail. Almost made me wish I was staying at the hotel that night rather than heading home!
Excellent if somewhat pricey wine choices, too. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Really enjoyable evening.
Lovely place for girls-day out. Great food with lots of menu choices. Best part was we weren’t hustled out after our meal. We stayed there, chatted and enjoyed the view. We even had a wildlife encounter when a small bird hopped in through an open window. Have never had less than a positive experience at One Pico.
My guests and I enjoy One Pico very much. I have some to this restaurant since the hotel opened. My only disappointment yesterday was i ordered the lobster caesar salad and while the taste, as expected, was delicious, the amount of lobster in the salad was borderline pathetic for a $30 item. The romaine lettuce cost less than a dollar leaving $29 of retail priced cost of lobster.. What WAS in the salad was finely shredded and small in volume. Small is being polite. If not for the fact that my guests and I were engaged in some rather important business discussions, I would have sent it back. Again great restaurant historically, next time I'll order a burger, at least that way I'll get something to actually eat...
A lovely setting for a leisurely week-end lunch. Food was nice for light, seafood-focused meals. But our server was excellent: she made the entire experience memorable. Friendly and warm without being intrusive or smarmy. And very kind to the shy young girl who was visiting from out of town.
I have only been to one pico on a few occasions, as it is a bit pricey and a bit of a drive. But whenever we've been there, it's just an absolute joy, totally worth the higher price. Our server recommended a bottle of wine that turned out to be perfect. The food was great, the ambiance was lovely, watching the sunset over the pacific was ever so nice......I look forward to having another special occasion so we have an excuse to go there again.
I had friends visiting from Poland so wanted a table close to the window. The hostess was able to accommodate this request within minutes. Our server, Tim, was uber friendly and provided superior services. Food, as always, was fantastic, with interesting and unique menu option. Shutters is always a favorite!
Pleasant dinner. On the positive side our server was very pleasant and competent.
However, dinner was marred by consistent foul language by one member of a group of four seated immediately behind my wife in spite of the fact there was a female among their group.
My friends really loved the place. It was exactly what they needed after their long international; travels and felt completely brought to life by the experience. The food was great and the environment amazing. I definitely plan to come with my parents during their next visit to Los
My one feedback is around giving people more time to explore the menu. I hadn't seen my friends in forever so we were catching up as we made our way through the food choices, but we felt rushed to make a decision soon. I know our server meant well, but it's worth reading the table and understanding the situation before hovering round incessantly.
We went for Brunch on our wedding anniversary, as is our yearly tradition. As always, One Pico did not disappoint. I had the Lobster Chowder plus the Grilled Calamari/Arugula salad. Both were absolutely perfectly cooked and superb. Thank you One Pico for another wonderful anniversary!
Our family has eaten at One Pico several times for special occasions. We love the dining room, and the view of the beach and the sunset are lovely. The food and service have always been very good. It's expensive, but we enjoy it enough to pay the price. The lobby area is a cozy place to have a drink before dinner, though on weekends it's extremely busy and rather chaotic. Overall, this is a nice special occasion spot.
