Always excellent service
The restaurant is exceptionally pleasant, beautifully situated with a view of the ocean, and upscale. Service was excellent. I was much less satisfied with the menu and even the food. The menu was quite expensive for a luncheon, even a business lunch--unless perhaps one is a free-spending Hollywood type. I ended up getting a salad with Jidori farm chicken ($27) because they were out of the smoked-trout salad and I wanted something light. The salad was undistinguished: big chunks of chicken on a bit of this and that (a bit of romaine, carrot, grapefruit, and olives according to the menu). Despite being in a good mood and having a pleasant meal with a friend, I was disappointed. I reluctantly gave a "recommend" signal above because of the restaurant's positives and the hope that I would have been happier with another choice.
What a treat! Great view and great food. Good attentive service. You won't be disappointed.
It is very “Adult” and there is no “scene”. What is there is good food and wine, quiet conversation, and great service.
Have a drink in the lobby either before or after dinner (or both!).
What a great place!!
Barely cooked chicken, hard peas and liquid whipped mash - pretty poor overall
Reunion with good friends. We live in London and haven’t seen our friends for four years, so wanted somewhere special to take them for dinner.
This was a great restaurant, with spectacular view of the beach, sunset, and the Santa Monica pier. Beautiful Decour, excellent service, and the food was excellent.
I had a reservation for six and called the night before to change it to 7 and was told no problem. Arrived and the hostess had no idea so they had to make some rearrangements. I requested a high chair and didn’t get one. So that was fine I could have asked for one, but the seats seemed okay for my toddler so I let it go. Two of my group arrived at 1105 for our 11 reservation and the hostess told them there was no one there under my name. So they wandered around until they found us on their own. Ordered two coffees and a French press coffee and about 10 mins later one coffee arrived and the busser told us he couldn’t find the French press? Lol. And he forgot the other coffee. Ordered food which took over 30 mins - brunch food. And they gave every single person the wrong dish, and brought the kids food last (as in 5 mins later).
Overall none of these issues were huge and the food was delicious and we had a great time, but I definitely expected way better service.
One of the best dining experiences we've ever had. Beautiful location with ocean view, quiet and comfortable dining area, excellent service, and great food.
Amazing dinner, view, service and ambiance. We were there to celebrate my daughter's birthday and they did not disappoint! My daughter was treated like a queen and they honored my request for a seat with a view. Would highly recommend this restaurant! The food was amazing!
exceptional service and great food in a wonderful hotel
3rd visit to LA and Shutters/Pico. Staff very professional, yet lovely and casual at the same time. Enjoyed the food, view and kindness of the waitstaff. Great experience, be back again next time in LA.
Good food and fantastic service in beautiful setting
The service for this very nice restaurant was horrible. Our waiter never introduced himself, his first words were "Oh, you got water, okay.", then he scurried off not to be seen for another 25 minutes. Be sure to ask for little or no ice in your cocktail otherwise you spend $16 for a tablespoon of refreshment. We spent $300 on dinner for two (2 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, 1 appetizer, 1 salad, 2 entrees, 1 extra side, 1 dessert, 2 coffees) and probably talked to our waiter 4 times throughout the entire meal. He never asked how our meal was or if we desired anything additionally. It was my husband's birthday, which he was aware, but he never acknowledged. Our coffee came with dessert, but it was never refreshed and when I got up and asked another server to assist, he said okay, then I saw him inform our server, but he never made it back to the table. The icing on the outstanding evening was received validation for parking, then had to pay $29 because the validation was only good for up to 3 hours and we were 8 minutes over the 3 hour mark. The scallops were wonderful and the arctic char was prepared beautifully. Though a little greasy, the asparagus/bacon/onions/pea tendrils tasted wonderful. The location is beautiful and next door Casa del Mar often has live music on the weekend. Just a little disappointed that Shutters doesn't hold a higher standard of service.
Location, location, location. On the beach with massive windows and a fireplace, elegant and romantic room. The food is very good, a bit pricey but the service is gracious and warm. Not the most inventive cuisine in the city but this is a wonderful place when you want what it offers.
Really terrible service. The waiter simply disappeared. Otherwise good, but not particularly innovative, food.
Overall was a good experience. Food was very expensive. Main courses were good, but the side dishes were not (asparagus and beets - warm, yuck). The sundae with popcorn desert was excellent. The restaurant is way way too dark.
We were staying in the hotel across the street (Casa Del Mar) and as it was raining, decided to pop into Shutters hotel and One Pico restaurant. We were seated at a nice window table and enjoyed watching a beautiful sunset over Santa Monica pier. Our salads and fish were delicious and the server was excellent. A nice restaurant with good California cuisine.
Great restaurant. Really enjoyed the brunch menu. Will definitely return!
Too noisy. Food was very good. Wine was way overpriced $20/glass
great service and a very warm welcome. very accommodating and relaxed
Fantastic beach and ocean view, excellent food and service.
One Pico used to be one of our favorite restaurants before we moved out of state. The decor seems more upscale than it used to be. We were in Malibu to celebrate a good friend's 60th birthday. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was attentive. The Cauliflower Soup was amazing and I would order the scallops again when we go back. The view of the beach was a huge plus particularly when a group of colorfully lit bikes went by.
We have been coming here for years and it will always be a favorite of ours. They never disappoint !
Good food and beautiful ambiance. Servers need to be trained. We were trying to sit down, stowe purses and jackets and even before we could get into our seats the server was thrusting menus into our hands. I finally said "let us get settled first"! The waiter was also asking us to order drinks before we were seated! After finishing our entrees no server came near our table for about 30 minutes. We would have liked to order dessert and coffee but didn't have time once they showed up. Apparently, they don't know how to time a meal gracefully.
Good food good wine but very cold inside restaurant
We had an excellent meal with great service. We will certainly return and recommend the restaurant to our friends and business associates.
Host staff honored my Open Table request for window table for birthday celebration, and staff was lovely. They included a low-key birthday touch at end of meal, also lovely. Menu was interesting and excellent, and especially enjoyed Calamari appetizer. Atmosphere was perfection. Gorgeous room/setting and no intrusive music. All conducive to great conversation.
Non-existent service due to understaffing. Food was great though.
The food and the view were good.
Great service. Loved the giew
Not great value for money . Food was average. Service was good although chewing gum on a chair caused a fellow diner a lot of discomfort and no resolution was found by management.
Think little Nicolas Sparks little white House on the beach, with amazing food & great service ! We will definitely be returning !
The food was overpriced and the soup was lukewarm. The ambiance was excellent, along with the view. You pay for the experience more than the food.
One of the few "with it" places in town where you actually dine well and hear. Great.
The restaurant was only
Amazing food with great staff. I was really lucky to find this place! I'll be going back next time I'm in town
We were here for a pre-Valentine's Day date. The food was mediocre (except for the bread which was delicious) and overpriced. My boyfriend had the halibut and I had the mushroom pasta. The tables are somewhat crowded together and it is very dark.
Good cocktails 🍹 for my brunch.
We met here for brunch after a weekend celebrating a birthday. The ambience was exactly what we wanted- sun, beach and relaxed yet sophisticated with great food and service! Everything you want!
